I am Mexican myself and I have to say this place has great food but the service is horrible. I dont know, must have been the waitress that attend us but she looked mean, uninterested in her job or she was having a bad day? She was basically letting us know she wasnt having a good day and Ive been their 3 times already, same waitress too. My dads order was taking a little while to cook and I over heard in the kitchen that they had messed up. At that point my dad didnt want anything. They didnt try to fix the situation at all... which really upset me because I got to eat and he didnt but the one thing that really bothered me from this whole experience was and I really dont know if the owner even knows about this but they seem to let homeless people come in the restaurant and let them ask every customer for money. So Im enjoying my meal and this random lady in a wheelchair comes up and asks us for money. I deny her and she gets upset and begins swearing at me and calling me names because I couldnt give her a dollar... for whatever reason they allow those people to come in? Its unprofessional and no other restaurants allow this. It really takes away from the experience and Im probably most likely not to go back. Again the food is great but the service doesnt do it justice. If I do go back, TO GO!

Mmm no tienen el mejor personal, y no estoy generalizando, he comido en ese lugar varías veces y es buena la comida, pero hoy ni siquiera decidí quedarme a comer, la mesera tuvo la peor de las actitudes con nosotros, a si que opte por retirarme del restaurante, espero que los dueños, tengan la mejor disponibilidad de atender las quejas de sus clientes, ya que sería una pena que perdieran clientes, por la actitud de sus empleados, solo me limité a pensar, será que por eso está vacío.

I started working in the Buford Highway area six months ago. Every morning as I drove along Buford highway, the aroma of grilled chicken filled the air and penetrated into my air conditioned car as I crossed the intersection of Buford Highway and Chamblee Tucker rd. I endured the lovely aroma for months, the exterior was not the best so I hesitated to eat at El Norteno. But finally, the long line at one my favourite restaurants drove me to take a chance on this Mexican hole in the wall. To put it simply......the CHICKEN was KICKIN..........as corny as that may sound........this was the best southwestern grilled chicken I have ever tasted........I am going back for more..........

Nothing is beating this place! Nobody is beating this. There is this one place on the East Side of Las Vegas called Rubalcabas, but that is the only other place even close. I dont care what bland buckhead mexican spot YOU know about, its not better than NORTENO! The Northerner! Dont mention Panchos either...not even close The Buford Highway one is AWESOME. Not the cleanest place, but the food more than makes up for it. The Chicken is off the chain! Off the Chain, I tell you. Just keep an eye out for a stray bone....yes a bone...its real chicken theyre cooking with real kingsford charcoal. Im trying to tell you that you need it in your life.

Are you kidding me? These people that posted about not liking the food are crazy! By the way if you didnt notice the tantalizing aroma of grilled chicken wafting from the open grill then youre clueless. This place has the best grilled chicken Ive ever tasted, hands down! Prices are awesome - feed the whole family for at least two meals for under $20 - try that at any other mexican place. Salsa bar, check, Tortilla chips, check, standard mexican rice & refried beans, check. Youre totally missing out if you bypass this place because you "think" its dirty. Look at the health code rating. Then eat the chicken.....youll thank me.

The atmosphere was not that great. Nothing spectacular, nothing that impressive, and it was the kind of place where I was afraid to go see what the bathroom looked like. According to the people in our party, the food varied from not very tasty to pretty good. They brought our salsa out on styrofoam plates(?). The enchiladas with red sauce were very good, but the ones with green sauce were sub-par. My friend enjoyed his chicken quesadilla, but found at least 5 large bone chunks within. Wasnt terrible, but we wouldnt go back.

Ive had this restaurants food a few times before I actually visited myself and it was good each time. However, when I finally did visit for lunch one of the employees was mopping the floor and over customers feet. The customer ordering her food at the register had to step to the side two or three times just to avoid her feet getting wet. Everyone in line was looking at her as if she was crazy, but she just continued to mop. Disappointing!

Not all that clean and very loud TV playing over the speakers. Got the grilled chicken which came with some Mexican rice, refried beans, lettuce and tomato, and a few corn tortillas. The chicken was almost inedibly dry. Way overcooked. Orange colored salsa from the salsa bar was flavorless. Chips and salsa served for free was decent, although the chips were all broken up. Would not return.

Was there a few years ago. Walked out forgot my debit card at the table when leaving. Retrieved the next morning. A few days later the dings started. Over $700 later got card cancelled. Owner would own what his employess did. Heard from many other latino. CASH only at their locations. Food is excellent. Rating here because a post on their page was deleted by them. CASH only youll be fine.

I was in the area for a job and somebody recommended it. It was super cheap and amazing tasting. Yeah it is not a clean place but the food is real and authentic. If the fact that it is a little dirty makes you leave then you dont even deserve the food and you can go back to your bland Taco Bell. P.S. styrofoam has never killed anyone stop freaking out and enjoy!

You can tell the chicken is going to be good by the smoke billowing across the intersection from their smokers. Lunch specials are cheap and hearty and plenty of familaies are eating family style with whole checkens and platters of rice and beans. Great salsa bar to accompany your meal.

This place is a true gem. Ive been going there for the past 10 years and it never disappoints. Their new location half a block up chamblee-Tucker rd. makes the experience that more delightful. Drop by and give them a chance, youll be happy you food this little nook.

Went there about 2 years ago and never return again. There was a roach inside my drink, after a few down sips the roach was trying to make its self up the cup!! When I told the waitress she said she could change my cup and drink. No!!! I need my free meal.

By far the worst place Ive ever eaten, I couldnt eat the food, meat was going bad. Service was horrible, I looked around seeing people that came in after me eating chips and salsa, I asked the waitress she asked me to be patient.
