Its one of those golden "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants that all the locals are happy to have discovered near their neighborhood. Ive gone there many times myself as a visitor and never been disappointed. You definitely get bang for your buck. They do all their food just right: tortas, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, asadas, all the usual suspects, but today lets talk about their burrito. Its big... Like BIG. This is easily a "all-hands-on-deck" kind of burrito. And --unless you can unhinge your jaw-- you cant bite through the whole burrito... You gotta do this "left-side, right side" sorta eating motion to work down through this burrito. The restaurant just leaves a stack of To-Go boxes on the counter because they simply got tired of being asked for them by each and every customer. So, go ahead and pick one o them up on your way to the table because that second half of the burrito (yes, they already cut your burrito into halves to help you pace yourself) is gonna make up your next meal too. At first glance of the menu I was like, "A nine-dollar burrito?!" But then I was like, "Whoa! This is more like two SIX-dollar burritos slammed together to make one monster burrito... a monsterrito?" Anyway, you get the picture. Look at a thermos in your home... that is almost the size of the burrito you will get.

So good. Some background - Was in GA for a week, got a hankering for tacos and decided to trust the reviews for this place. I was a bit skeptical since I had done the same for an BBQ place earlier in the week. The BBQ place (which will remain nameless) was sad. In Austin, it would be a comedy club...one where no one laughed. No smoke to be seen, smelled, or tasted. Smokeless brisket? My first reaction was "f* it. Al qaeda won.". Because Im a trooper, I decided to carry on and went here when tacos called my name. Great choice. The food was excellent. The prices were very reasonable. The service was the coup de grace. The cashier (I thought she owned the joint based on her passion for her job and for the restaurant) was friendly, funny, and attentive. Give her a raise. As for the food, I had some tacos. Al Pastor, Asada, and Campechana. All were excellent. The three choices in (homemade) salsa were all pretty great - though the scotch bonnet sauce was too hot for me - I tapped out after a small helping of it. My buddy had a carne asada burrito - it looked pretty great. Eat here. Youll like it. If you dont, the foods not the problem. They have a mirror in the bathroom if you want to know what is.

Chipo-what? This place is the best! I felt like I was with my abuelita again. The food is so deliciously mouth-watering and fresh. Both guys that served us were polite, professional, and friendly. The guy on the register was so hospitable and he knew about everything on the menu, as a server should. The salsas are amazing and come spicy, hot or flavorful burn if youre feeling daring. I like hot so all three were right up my alley. Be cautious though. If youre not used to heat like that, maybe take the green tomatillo one. I ordered the house burrito and it is the biggest burrito Ive ever had. I actually ate the whole thing. Rice, steak, trompo, avocado, lettuce, beans, and cheese. Its so good! I want to go back and get another but I plan to try everything on the menu. Go eat there before you miss out. They also have a small bar, with a beer special sign I think I saw, and Mexican sodas. When you go, make sure you dont have to rush anywhere.

El Trompo is one of those hole in the wall places that you might think twice about trying if you dont know better, but take my word for it, you need to give this place a shot. I cant be sure, but I think its a family run place, and serves up the most authentic and delicious Mexican food Ive ever had in Georgia. The food here is amazing. Seriously, this is the best burrito Ive ever had. The steak is tender and delicious. They talked me into trying a meat that was steak and Mexican sausage, and I sure am glad I listened. These burritos are simply gargantuan. I can eat a chipotle burrito and bag of chips no problem, but I couldnt even think about eating more than half of this thing. You can definitely get two full meals out of it (and its delicious right out of the fridge the next day). Theyve also got a great selection of Mexican sodas and other treats ( I hear the guac is amazing, but havent tried it yet).

There is a reason every single one of the reviews for El Trompo is 5 stars. Pros: Amazing food, best Mexican ive ever had. Ive eaten Mexican food all over the country, and this trumps them all. Amazing service. The staff here are outstanding and really are a model of what customer service is. Its the equivalent of visiting your Latino friends house on Thanksgiving. Excellent atmosphere. They had football(soccer) playing on TV completely in Spanish, which is how I prefer to watch it. (No one can announce sports like a Hispanic man can.) Mexican beers, Mexican sodas, you name it. Everything about this place says to you "Stay a while, and get fat!" The men are polite and very welcoming. The women are beautiful and sweet. But the thing that stands out above everything, is the food. If you dont like the food here, its because you suck as a human being.

Ive been a long time customer. But this visit was not good. There where so many flys inside that it was gross. I always bring 5 or guys with me and i pay the tab. Its never under 70.00 dollars. I got a medium drink and when I ask for a refill they said I had to pay for it. I couldnt believe it. Then One of the guys got the cheese fries and you couldnt even tell there was any on it . They told him he would have to buy more cheese. How crazy. Its been a good place but I think the quality is going down. It will be a while till I go back and spend that kind of money for that kind of service .

My wife and I came to El Trompo looking for authentic Mexican street tacos, I can proudly say they have the best Mexican Taqueria in Georgia that we have had so far! The food is cooked to perfection, we got the Asada (steak) and the Al pastor de Cerdo (spiced pork) tacos with large rice and beans, and a Mandarin Jarritos to wash it down. The host was welcoming, energetic and made us feel right at home . He treated us like family! If your looking for a great Mexican Taqueria, clean with great service then El Trompo is the place! P.s. Dont forget the Salsa Verde y límon! And add cheese!

Omgoodness!! The best Mexican food I have had in the ATL area since I moved here three years ago. It is the most authentic that I have had since I moved from Myrtle Beach 10 years ago where I had numerous authentic places to choose from. My daughter ate all of her food and she eats like a bird so that tells me she loved it too. I had 4 tacos al pastor, my daughter had 1 taco al pastor with chicken and we shared a side of rice and beans. My husband had the el trompo burrito. It was huge! It was very affordable, the staff was awesome, so happy we found this place!
