The food was good, the service was like a circus. We had a group of 8, but two were twin 14 month old girls, so they really didnt require much from them. I ordered some ingredients on the side as my husband and I were sharing a burito (which was HUGE and delish) he doesnt like sour cream and I dont like black beans. They did put the beans on the side but I didnt get the sour cream at all. I also ordered some cheese sause, not sure if I was charged for it or not, I sure hope not because it was very small, maybe 1.5 or 2 ounces at best, served in a small disposable dressing cup. Back to the service.... First it took at least 30-40 minutes after we ordered to receive our food and as I mentioned we had the twins with us plus they also have two big brothers who are 3 and 6 years old. The four kids were getting so impatient by the time it finally arrived. In fact one of the twins had gotten so fussy she was done and refused to eat at all, just wanted to sit on her mamas lap so mama couldnt eat either. Three of us ordered unsweetened iced tea, two at one end of the table, and I was at the other end of the table. Three different people came around to refill the other two peoples tea, never once did anyone even ask if I wanted a freshen up. No, mine wasnt empty but it had gotten very watered down and refilling it wouldve made it less so. Considering there were several people assisting our actual server, it was an unorganized chaos of people tripping all over each other as no one really seemed to know what they were doing. Maybe they were all new, but if that was the case, they shouldnt have had them all working on the same night. But again, the food was very good! However--the salsa that was served with the chips was VERY hot and the server didnt warn us with the kids there. I took one bite and my mouth was on fire and it took him a good 10 minutes to bring our drinks. My 3 and 6 year old grandsons also did the same thing and we had nothing to drink. We asked them if they had any mild salsa and we were told no, but they could make us some if we really needed it. I told him that we were white people from Minnesota and that ketchup was a wee bit too spicy for us!! (No, were not really that whimpy, it is a Minnesota joke, okay?!) They did bring us out something resembling salsa but it was really just chunky tomato sauce, very tomato-ie and bland. But we mixed about 1.5 teaspoons of the hot stuff into it and it was perfect. So now you know, if youre like us and dont like your food to hurt you, be careful, the salsa they bring out is HOT!

I feel that this place has progressively gotten worse over the last several years. My family used to come here once a week as almost a family ritual, but after a series of disappointing visits, we stopped coming as frequently. Today my dad and I had lunch here for the first time in a while and the food was mediocre overall. Our chips were a little soggy (maybe they were undercooked?), and my dads empanadas were so cripsy that they were nearly burnt. I got the Fajita Salad (I think it was called) that tasted fine, but I was shocked when I saw the $11.99 price tag on the check. It was definitely not a salad worthy of such a premium price. But what really made this experience awful was the level of service that we received. Our waitress (didnt have a nametag) was very unattentive to our table and did not seem very engaged when stopping by our table. Often, she would go 15 or more minutes between check-ins and seemed to forget about us often. Usually, we had to flag her down or ask another employee to get a chip refill, a to-go box, and even the check. Im not sure if it was just a bad day for her or if she was brand new to waitressing, but I definitely did not get the impression that she was qualified for a job like waitressing that requires a strong personality and ability to multitask. Im sure that we will come back again some day, but this visit was definitely disappointing and not uncommon from our previous visits.

Seated right away and given chips and salsa, however, waited 10 minutes and server (nor anyone else) never came to our table. Alerted host, he found a server to take our drink order, but he let us know he wasnt out server and that she would be by for food order. Waited at least another 5 min for our actual server to come by. She was full of excuses. Restaurant was not busy at all and all areas seemed to be struggling--host running around to find servers for tables, guests waiting to be seated bc no host at front. Drinks were not refilled during our wait. Order was taken and waited another 30 min for our food to be delivered by yet another server. Food appeared as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. Food was lukewarm. Got the wrong type of beans for one our entrees. Check was given by our actual waiter before I was even halfway done with my meal.

(let me preface this to say that the manager DID comp a fair portion of the meal after I talked with him, but...) From the start: Didnt seem very busy, but a long wait to be seated, soaking wet table from a wipe down, forcing us to have to ask for napkins to dry it ourselves. Burrito came out topped with cheese after very specific dietary instructions for there to be none at all, fajita came out with no tortillas, so we waited for them to be made... horrible draft beer offerings, Dos Equis served with no lime, after specificly aaking for it. No hot sauces on the table. Many other tables sat dirty and un-bussed for the entirety of our meal. Waitress did the best that she could, but there is no real reason for us to go back. if you want Mexican drive a little ways to ANY of the 3 Taqueria La Parilla

Athens, GA... Worst Service ever.... Staff walked past me standing at the togo counter to get my order... Finally after 30 mins someone helped me, then i got about a mile away and looked at my order and it was made incorrectly (as they do every time I order from them)... then when I brought it back to get it corrected, the girl that helped me earlier went about her business and didnt help me after I told her it was made incorrectly then rolled her eyes at me as she passed by several minutes later... So I asked to see the manager, he finally came out and was down right mean but did get my order fixed and gave me a $10 certificate to come back again (Which is highly unlikely.)

Review posted ^June 3rd 2016^ *I have give this rating 2 stars because My mother and I had to wait for our food for 20 whole minutes.Some lady walked in and got her food less then 10mins and we have been waiting and waiting for our food to come.The waitress came to our table and didnt even realize we still didnt have our food and she didnt know what was taking so long.It wasnt even that busy when we came for dinner. She also took long time bring napkins and straws. This was our first time visiting,we even told waitress lady that. So we wont be returning. Im glad I had gift card someone gave me cause I would of been mad if I had to spend my own money.
