Subsequent review (see below for the first review): Incredible food. Highly recommend. Still vexed about the "maybe we will" takeout policy, but I got lucky and they served me. Excellent tacos. Conditional review: I didnt actually eat there, so this is entirely a comment on the service, not the food. Attempted to order carry-out. Person on the phone explained that they dont take carryout orders over the phone. I said I could come in and order in person. She said that if the chef gets too busy, he wont take carryout orders, even in person. I said, just to make sure that I understood correctly, that even if I drove to their restaurant, I couldnt be guaranteed that I could order food to go, depending on how busy they were when I got there. She confirmed that this was the case, and didnt seem to view this as a problem. Im vexed.

Sometimes the food is good, but the item you order is never the same the next time you order it. The wait staff are always over whelmed. I have been here multiple times, and it is kind of a hot mess in a new and different way each time. This visit, they had appropriate furniture, but 3 entree items to choose from and plastic forks and knives to eat your food with out of an old pie tin. Thats fine except Im paying $16 for an enchilada. Last time, they gave us the menu, but it only had appetizers on it. They told us later that there was supposed to be a back to it, but it never printed. It also takes forever even when the place is basically empty. Bottom line: sometimes its good, sometimes its bad. I never know what to expect.

Cant say enough about this place! Amazing, inspired food. Fun, inviting atmoshere. And did I mention the food?! We visited Fresh Taqueria for dinner with a large group of co-workers during a Chicos event and co-owner MG took great care of us. The mixed group had all sorts of tastes, from timid to adventurous and meat eaters to vegans and every single person was terrifically happy with their meals and the entire experience. Great beer and drink selections (try the Hala Kahiki beer!), fantastic service and.. did I mention the food?! We cant wait to visit again and I think Fresh Taqueria has gained 12 new loyal customers!

Pros: food was amazing. The flavors work well together and the margaritas were delicious. This alone makes the restaurant worth it. Cons: -Beer prices make no sense. They cost more than the cocktails. Only 4 taps. -service was sub-par. Was only two people working (one in the kitchen and one server/bartender) so its a bit understandable, but they just seemed like they had no desire to do their job. Drinks sat empty for 15 minutes. They were rescued by the quality of the food. -decor of the restaurant seems to be "pile up a bunch of junk." It looks more like someones crappy side home than a restaurant when you walk in.

Great draft beer selection. The owner knows craft beer inside and out, has 9 taps. Now a lot of places will claim "30 taps! Weve got it all!" But when you get there, its "Weve got both kinds, Bud, and Miller, ohhh and all the Sams!" At Fresh Taqueria the 9 taps are all picked carefully, a wonderful range. 1 IPA, 2 DIPAs, double bock, Belgium brown, imp stout, etc. Some very rare finds. And yet a few approachable taps as well. The owner and I chatted for along time at the bar, she knows what she is doing. And the bottle selection was extremely impressive. Didnt get to try the food.

Looking for craft beers on Sanibel Island? Find a great selection at Fresh Taqueria. Orange Ave Wit, Laughing Skull, Grateful White are three of my favorites. My favorite app is the Queso Fundido. Its delicious! The wifes favorite was the Poblano and Pecan Guacamole. Both were very fresh and incredible. You have to try the House Stuffed Dates. Theyre very addictive. We even order another round. The kids loved the Mexican Street Corn. Chorizo and Mama Tacos were perfect. Cinnamon Tortilla Crisps were a nice finish to a great experience.

Cant tell you how the food is because they never seem to be open. Weve been in Sanibel for a week now and have driven by when their business hours claim to be open and the place is closed. Have called numerous times and nobody ever answers the phone. So right now with all things considered 2 stars is pretty fair. Update your Web page and Google with your correct hours of operation. Or maybe theyve closed up shop for some reason.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Fresh Tacqueria. Very casual and low-key, but comfortable, with friendly staff, and delicious appetizers and entrees. We had the shrimp tacos, southern pork tacos, and quesadilla, with guacamole and salsa and chips for an appetizer, and all were delicious. Plus they have a huge beer list and great wine list with one of our favorite garnachas. Nice laid back atmosphere in the outdoor seating area.

The food here was delicious and we were so happy to finally find a place with vegan options on the menu! The restaurant and property itself looked disheveled.. like it belongs to that crazy aunt who has "eclectic" taste and isnt very organized. Almost turned around before we made it to the front door but ended up being very happy we gave it a try. It would be great if they had a kids meal!

Went on a Tuesday night with my wife. I ordered 2 tacos, queso and a beer. My wife got the vegan enchiladas and 2 glasses of wine. The bill was $66(!) without tip. The queso was bland and the service was slow for there only being one other couple in the place. I felt it was very overpriced even by Sanibel standards. May give another try but I am on the fence.

Depressing. Its my thinking that all restaurants on sanibel suffer from grade inflation. So a 3 is generous. Wall decor aside, there was no atmosphere. Candles not lit, no discernible music. I kinda felt like i was intruding when i arrived. Nothing special to say about the food except that the shredded cheese was fresh from the generic bag.

Manager was an absolute ass. Refused to talk directly to us. Walked past yelling "no way we can seat you for an hour! We have a lot of reservations." Then told host while standing right next to us "dont seat anyone and dont push the kitchen" Hello! We are over here! Thanks for your empathy! Avoid unless you like places like the Soup Nazi.

Sanibel is a pretty expensive place all around. If youre looking for an affordable place to eat that offers really good food, I would highly recommend this place. Not only is the food fresh and well made, the staff is also wonderful. My family and I definitely will be coming back to eat here very soon!

Fresh, delicious food that is a breath of fresh air from the typical island cuisine. Tacos, arepas, and fried bananas were all good. This place warrants a visit every time that I am on Sanibel, and maybe even every time that I am hungry!

Food was good, and staff was nice, but lunch was amazingly slow. The restaurant interior and restroom were disorganized / haphazard, which indicated poor management that also affected getting service and food in a timely manner.

The manager or owner of this "restaurant" is one of the rudest, most abrasive assholes ive ever met. As for the food, i cant say. We actually left before it arrived since we were coming up on well over an hour of waiting.
