My wife and I honeymooned on Sanibel Island and wanted to experience a few things: great seafood, fine dining and delicious food. Il Cielo sure has all of that and more. To describe the food would be selling it short but Ill try. For starters, the bread and olive oil (so simple, right) was devoured in seconds. The appetizer of shrimp and pasta was more than delicious, we could have easily ordered two more servings. The soup of the day (the chef makes his own stocks, so we heard) was amazing: flavorful broth, spicy sausage, so many flavors and spices, wish I had the recipe. The main dish was salmon, and again, just fantastic. If it was acceptable to lick the plate, we would have. What really sold us was we realized we hadnt said hardly a word to each other after starting to eat, all we could do was admire the food. The wait staff was excellent as well and I saw the chef serve some dishes himself and even chat with customers. If I lived on the island, I would 100% eat dinner there a few times a month.

A wonderful restaurant on sanibel island. Chuck the maitre d is a tremendous host and chris is a very knowledgeable and professional waiter. The chef is a Picasso of preparation, presentation and flavors. This trip to sanibel (one of over 90) was for our 37th wedding anniversary. The only star missing is due to not being on the gulf. The experience was so wonderful we didnt even notice the lack of water until I was writing this review. Our favorite must do restaurants are il Cielo and mad hatter. Both best of the best. IL Cielo more romantic and upscale than mad hatter.

It was really hard to decide where to eat because everyone restaurant in Sanibel had amazing reviews. I could not have been happier with this selection. The food, service and atmosphere was incredible. They had a piano player who took a break and talked to several tables. He asked names and if they had a request. We must have stayed another 5-6 song following the break and he not only remembered the song the guests requested but their names and a little bit of info about them. It was really incredible.

We had a wonderful time here for a birthday dinner. Our waitress, Uma, was one of the best servers Ive ever experienced. Thanks Uma for taking such great care of us! She recommended the salted caramel chocolate cake for dessert, everyone loved it. Everyone loved their dinners as well- if they have hog fish as the special I would recommend trying it. The atmosphere is more upscale than a few of the places close-by, I probably wouldnt take my kids there. Its a little too quiet for them.

My wife and I went here during our honeymoon stay at Sanibel Island. They had an amazing atmosphere with live piano and a wonderful wine selection. The calamari fritti appetizer was amazing! It had a chili and mango sauce which was really different from plain old calamari that Im used to. The staff also made special accommodations since we were on our honeymoon. The staff seemed really happy with their lives and reflected it onto the customer in turn.

Our first-time eating here. It was our 29th wedding anniversary. Very interesting menu. Had the crab cake app. And the strawberry arugala salad. Both were very good. Then had the catch of the day (black grouper) and lump crab. Also had the Veal Osso Buccp. Both were good. Veal could have been seasoned better. And the grouper was a bit over cooked. The service was spot on Andres he was very good.

Just okay. Last year I had a fabulous filet and meal. Was looking forward to another amazing meal. Couldnt find a big red wine by the glass - by third try I gave up. Bummed. Ordered filet bone in special asked for medium and confirmed color with server. It was raw and I barely ate the exterior. Just over all disappointed. Wont be back.

The servers and staff were very kind and accommodating to my husband, our one year old and me. We ate quickly with the baby in tow, but had a nice meal. The food was nicely prepared and worth the money to eat good. Hubs had the lamb and wished he could have eaten two more plates of it. I had the snapper. We loved both.

Our best meal on the island. The food was innovative and delicious. The service was impeccable and we also really enjoyed the live music. Truly a 5 star experience. We had a group of 8 people and every single person LOVED their meal (and we are a hard to please crowd)!

Excellent service. The food was absolutely delicious. Live piano music Wednesday through Saturday, pretty good. The piano player played all of our requests and many other beautiful songs. Our server Uma was the best. Definitely coming back every time we are in Sanibel.

This is a real gem on Sanibel island, recommended for special occasions or just a really nice dinner. The ambiance is romantic and quiet, while the service was outstanding. The food is incredibly good. Cant say enough good things about this place -- highly recommended.

Absolutely perfect. Best meal we had on the island and the only one I felt was worth its price. The server was great (Jeff, I think, was his name), the food was on point and the desert was perfect too. PS the Day Scallops were the best scallops Ive ever eaten.

Had corn and crab soup, conch fritters, scallops for dinner all was fantastic! Husband had the steak and cheesecake he wanted more - Christine was a fabulous waitress very attentive and was always around - We definitely will be back.

Fabulous! Best dinner we have had in Sanibel. Service was attentive and on point. Food was prepared exactly as requested. We were a party 14 and the food, staff and atmosphere were exceptional. We will definitely return!!
