My room mate and I have been trying to go to more mom-and-pop style restaurants on paydays, and two weekends back I convinced him to try Taqueria Mixteca. Hes a suburbanite who gets nervous on East Third St but I work down there and know the area is full of good, honest people. And it turns out some of them opened up this incredible little restaurant. Were going today as a matter of fact when I leave work. He had the chimichanga last night and has raved about it ever since; I had the enchiladas with red sauce, which were great but for the sauce not being to my tastes. Im trying the chimichanga this time. The staff were fast and friendly, the art on the walls quaint and a bit enchanting to stare into, and guess what, one of those paintings is a Pokestop. Just so you know. Highest recommendation for those who like divey, mom-and-poppy places with great food.

Never knew this place existed but Im glad I came. Cozy booths and friendly staff make you feel at home. Food portions are great and food is prepped really fast. I got the monster burrito expecting a burrito the size of Chipotles burritos but boy was I wrong. This truly is a MONSTER burrito and for the price ($15) I couldnt believe it! My friends who are big muscular guys got the fajitas and were pretty satisfied. Oh almost forgot to mention this BYOB! We didnt bring anything but the gas station next door has some beers so we walked over and got a six pack for the meal! Overall best Mexican restaurant in Dayton and great food!

Best Hispanic restaurant I have ever eaten at. Sadly though I wish they had a bigger restaurant, which is the reasoning behind my 4 star and not a 5. We choose not to go because of lack of seating and space. We have two little children and its too much to handle with them due to lack of space and seating in the restaurant. We also always recommend this restaurant to friends and family and would go with friends and family, but again skip over it due to the stress of lack of seating and space. But the food is absolutely delicious! Once and if they expand we will be going a lot more.

This isnt TexMex - this is authentic Mexican and its delicious. If you want tacos with sour cream, cheese, and such go a chain restaurant. They make their tacos with your choice of mea, cilantro, onion, etc. The service was very slow once upon a time but its been really good the last few times Ive been there. The dont have a liquor license at the 3rd street location however they do have one at the Trotwood location which is located in the old Best Buy parking lot near the intersection of Salem and Shiloh Springs.

Terrible terrible food. This place puts Mexican food to shame! I dont understand how this place is even getting good reviews. My boyfriend (whos from Mexico) both agree this place is a hole in the wall dump. Ill never eat here again. You want the most authentic Mexican food, come to Columbus and go to Casa Hacienda Grill. FRESH tortillas and Carne asada is out of this world! The salsa is so good I can eat it with a spoon. Do yourself a favor and dont waste your money here at taqueria de mierda! Lol

The tacos here are amazing. I got beef stew, fish and goat tacos. All were very good. I was pleasantly surprised that the fish was grilled, not fried. The server was on point. He was constantly there when we needed water refilled. He brought us a new basket of chips just about when we had a few chips left. The only down side is the rest room is outside of the restaurant and youll have to ask for a key to unlock. Parking is a little bit cramped, especially as you back out

This is Daytons best place for authentic Mexican food (as opposed to Tex Mex at many other places). The lunchtime staff is friendly, service is fast, and the food tastes great. Dinnertime service is generally not as attentive, which is disappointing (and the reason for four stars). The food tends to be spicier than other local restaurants, but it is just the right amount. Be aware that the location and surroundings may appear sketchy, but the food is well worth it!

The best authentic mexican food! This place is often crowded, and does not have much seating. If you are sensitive to the outside temperature, do not sit near the doors, as they will be opened and closed a lot! The bathrooms are located outside the main premises, which adds to the coming and going of customers. The menu is extensive, and everything I have tried there has been excellent. They are not always the fastest, however, so dont if you are in a hurry.!

Im originally from the southwest and I can tell real mexican cuisine compared to places that say they are "mexican". I can say that this place rocked! Its not in your more glamorous neighborhoods, but the food is worth it. They start off by giving you a bowl of tostadas and a variety of salsas. Tacos are great, but their quesadillas are even better. You can sit back, eat, watch a game of mexican soccer and enjoy a different culture.

Im hooked so good I always get a Chimichanga the price of food is very reasonable for your portions are more larger then most.. I read some reviews of people saying meat is bland umm most authentic mexican places they dont season meat like we do.. I thought it was awesome has little pieces of potatoe and carrots in it.. just gotta give it a try!! The place is like a whole in the wall but its always packed.. thats tells you enough

This place is about as authentic as it gets! Ive had numerous dishes, each one more delicious as the last. My absolute favorite is the chicken mole enchiladas. They have great quality chicken and the mole sauce is legit! I tried the pork tamales for the first tome and hands down their the best Ive ever had. Prices are reasonable and service is fast and friendly. If you enjoy real Mexican cusine you have to check this place out!

I went to this resturaunt with my kids and their father. We got the quesadilla kids meal and 2 fajitas with chicken shrimp and steak. Our appetizers were the shrimp tosdada and fresh guac. The appetizers were amazing and the guac is perfect with a little salt. My son really loved his quesadillas and the fajitas were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is friendly and satisfying.

My experience here was mixed. The food was really good but the customer service was beyond terrible. Our waitress maybe spoke to us once and never checked on us. The eating area is very small so she had no excuse for ignoring us. We felt deliberately ignored so we decided to leave. I assumed she suspected us of attempting to dine and dash so she finally tried to help us. From now on Ill order my good to go.

My wife and I have been hunting for one good authentic Mexican food we could find without hunting down a food truck or paying an arm and a leg. Given, we were kinda off put by the neighborhood at first, but as soon as we ate the food all trepidation disappeared. Hot tortillas, freshly prepared veggies, and well seasoned meat in the tacos. Fantastic. Definitely going in our lunch date playbook.
