2010 - Happy Cinco de Mayo! Upon entering Toro Loco, our senses were immediately stimulated from the robust scent of the sizzling Fajitas passing by to the fun atmosphere. People all around were parting hardy, while some promo girls were handing out free T-shirts, little mariachi’s and other cool giveaways. I’m new to the area and just met Oscar, the bar tender, who was so friendly and very helpful in choosing just the right Mexican beer, XX/Lager, which I had never had before. It was so good that I might now be addicted. While at the bar we started with some appetizers, such as Guacamole dip and freshly made Salsa with home made chips. We also ordered some enchiladas and shrimp in garlic sauce (if I was home I would have licked this plate). So far it sounds great doesn’t it? Well, let me tell you, it gets better. After being seated for our main course, I initially thought I wouldn’t be able to eat another thing, but with a little break in between, all of us were ready again to experience a feast. We started out by celebrating with some frozen Margarita’s, probably the best around, we couldn’t resist so we ordered a pitcher. While at the bar, we took the advice from another patron to try the Clam soup and the Whole Red Snapper with Mexican spices. Being a group of four we also ordered the Fajitas Toro Loco to share and OMG we just wanted to devour it all. Here we were sharing all our meals, and me thinking, that I wished my friends would have continued being a little more social with the guys from Seton Hall, just to allow me to selfishly eat it all. We really indulged with the fried ice cream and – Oh My – you have to experience this, it couldn’t be better. I have to thank our server too (I think his name was Eric) for immediately getting me some club soda for a spot on my shirt.

TLDR: Service was fast and great. Food was trash, alcoholic drinks were virgin. Overpriced. Will not be coming back Longer review: Came here after finding out the local gym was closed. Decided to come here as the reviews were decent. Looking over the photos, it seemed like this place had good food. Didnt look quite authentic but this is south orange. Seated quick and given our drinks quick as well. Was kind of surprised as the drinks tasted as if hey had no alcohol. I guess I should have figured it out here. What Mexican restaurant makes such weak drinks? Chips and salsa served first. Chips were good, crisp. The salsa was tomato water and onions. No flavor, no spice. Entrees came quick which was great, however food was bland and had no spice. Their spiciest sauce was some sort of sweet "chipotle" sauce. It was more like mole. After asking multiple times the waiter informed me that they in fact have no other spicy sauces. For those that will inquire, Tapatio is great but not to bring the heat. I ended up not using any of it as this "chipotle" sauce was too sweet and quite disgusting. This place is overpriced. 2 entrees and 2 drinks for $50. Most expensive Mexican restaurant Ive ever been to. Paid quick and left. Will not be coming back.

After not having visited for years and hearing raved reviews (from my friends) about the pork, I went back. The margaritas and appetizers have always been good, but not enough to make it a regular stop. The nachos we had as an appetizer were really good, but dont really resemble regular nachos and are more like an open faced quesadilla with refried beans. The margaritas were just as good as I remember, but the pork was not good. The flavor was ok, but it was so dry it was nearly inedible. The servers were pleasant enough. The decor is extremely dark and doesnt look like it has been changed in years, except for the addition of some tacky promotional items given by the usual Mexican beer and tequila brands. I will go back to try something else, but will not revisit the pork.

Toro Loco is a wonderful with a great atmosphere. The drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders I encountered are always friendly and attentive. The place gets pretty crowded sometimes but for the most part the food is prepared as it should be, is very tasty and I have always been severed in a timely manner. They have a nice small outdoor seating area which is a wonderful place to be during the spring, summer and early fall.

Im given to understand this place is love it or hate it. The more reviews I read and the more people I talk to, the more Im convinced that if you hate it, youre wrong. Great portions and value, and despite being a larger place and a bar, the Mexican food comes out tasting Mexican and not Tex-mex/American. Theyre accommodating of larger groups and friendly for all ages. Come on down!

Been here twice love the chips and salsa just the best ....the service is really really fast ...i mean its nice to get your food quickly but i mean sometimes your like half way done and just chatting with your company and they come ask you if your done...that was kinda annoying... otherwise it was nice ...like the outdoor option and the indoor option...would go again

My girlfriend and I come here from time to time and our most recent experience reminds me why we do. The shrimp cocktail here is delicious - huge shrimp perfectly poached. We also got the Caldillo ala Mariscos and the broth was fabulous. All of the seafood came out well, except for the Lobster. Also, you get a good sized margarita for 8 bucks. Definitely recommend

My first time - seemed a bit disorganized with they way they handled taking your name, however, was seated right away. Took me flagging a waiter to get a waiter to give us menus. The food was very good and came super fast. From that point on, the service was better. They are very generous with their chips and salsa. Drink was ok. Overall, good experience!

Walked passed Toro loco several times n always wanted to try their food. Today I am fulfilled. Even though texmex, a good taste beyond many Ive even tried in Spanish neighborhoods. Stuffed by the time I hit dessert its a wonderful place to go to n enjoy a fajita. Hit the terrace for a peaceful awesome meal

My waiter kept disappearing while everyone elses waiter was extremely attentive. The food was gross. And pricey. I couldnt even get pass a bite and I eat Mexican food regularly. The "freshly made" guacamole that took 15 mins to come out in a half empty restaurant was the highlight of my meal. Never again.

Definitely NOT worth checking out! Food was goopy and sloppy without much taste. I had gut Rot and my stomach is not even that sensitive. The service was slow. If youre looking for good Mexican food then try someplace else. If youre looking to chow down some bleh food, then eat here.

Worse food ever!!!! my husband, and I were very disappointed. We ordered the flautas and Quesadilla, and both tasted horrible. It is like it came right out of a box not made there. Also ordered side of Guacamole and even tasted horrible, no taste to it. Never going there again.

I love Toro! I have been going since I was young and now as Im older, I still go with my sisters and friends. Everytime I bring a friend they love it and are anxious to return. I love their chicken nachos and fried ice cream. Fajitas and frozen drinks are also great.
