I had a very UNPLEASANT experience today at this restaurant. Let me start off by saying I luv luv luv Sanibel Island and will not allow this experience, from what has to be the most IGNORANT restaurant owner ever, to deter me and my family and friends from this hidden gem!!!!!! Sooooo as I am driving back from a beautiful experience in Captiva the words FRIED CHICKEN caught my eye. Well, you know I had to stop...LOL!! The young ladies who greeted us were very friendly, helpful and engaging. We received our order and began to dig in. Between the three of us, we ordered chicken, black beans and rice, mac n chez, collard greens, okra, biscuits. The collard greens TASTED TERRIBLE, so I asked the OWNER, if I could please exchange it for a black beans and rice. She looked at me as if I stole something!!! I proceeded to hand her the collard greens and she says, "You might as well keep them, I cant do anything with them"!! I couldnt believe my ears. I told her, "What you can do is throw it away". She replaced it, but I soon found out the replacement was NO BETTER!!!! The black beans and rice, which had plenty of other beans, and BLACKeye PEAS too, was NOT DONE!!!! Maybe try soaking them first( duh) The collard greens were MUSHY, which means they are DAYS OLD!!!! You might be able to fool some people, but not many. Collard greens can be as little as $1.00 per pound, as well as the meat and stock needed for FLAVOR, which you OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. The mac and chez taste like KRAFT, and that is a stretch!!! Mac n cheez needs more than mac n cheez!!!! You need to put as much effort in your side dishes as you do your chicken. Your whole attitude STANK, and just like I told the people coming into your establishment, as well as standing in line, YOUR ATTITUDE AND YOUR FOOD SUCK!!! I WILL TELL EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY!!! WE WONT BE BACK!! The worst $40 spent on the island!!!

Bridgit was amazing to us! Were from the heartland and visited Sanibel in June. We forgot all the restaurants were on island time and they mostly closed around 9:00. At 9:30, we found The Pecking Order still open. When we walked in Bridgit welcomed us so warmly, like we were lifelong friends! And she fed us like my grandma would have. We left with so much food that we had enough for midnight snacks AND lunch the next day. And the food might have been better than my grandma made (sorry Grandma!). Their fried chicken was perfect and deliciously seasoned! The mashed potatoes were my favorite. My kids loved the corn on the cob. My husband pretty much ate all the cornbread. This will be a definite stop when we visit Sanibel again! And hopefully well get to chat with and thank Bridgit for taking such good care of us!

The fried chicken was really good, but it tasted almost exactly like KFC original, which Im quite fond-off, just not what I was expecting. Their mashed potatoes & gravy was absolutely delicious! Their biscuits were good and I found the baked beans & coleslaw to be a little too sweet for my tastes. Im used to a little more tang in my coleslaw. The place was small, just ordering counter inside where you can pickup takeout and get drinks, but they have some bar seating outside. The staff was very friendly. Overall good eating on the island, and definitely less pricey than some of the other options. My daughter had the fried chicken & waffles and really enjoyed them. Look forward to trying more of their menu next time I visit the island.

This is difficult for me to admit because my mom owns a fried chicken restaurant, but this was the BEST Ive ever had. I still dont quite understand the whole "broasting" process, but it translates into moist meat and flavorful skin thats not so dripping with grease that you feel the need to blot it with a paper towel just to avoid a heart attack. Perfect made-from-scratch biscuits. Im a sucker for chocolate and sea salt, but the Black Betty has evolved my affinity into an addiction. Also, if you dont order the Harlem Special for your side, youre wrong. Just wrong. Feed Adrian the dog your chicken, and youll pick up a new best friend as a bonus.

Ive lived on Sanibel for two years and this is one of the (very few) places I bring family on the island when they visit. Most Sanibel restaurants are overrated and driven by a transient tourist customer base, but this is actual good, homemade food you would find in cities and small towns that have much more culture, and food culture, than Sanibel. The chicken is always the perfect combination of crispy and juicy, the biscuits melt in your mouth, the fried pickles are my favorite guilty pleasure, the tea is freshly brewed, and I put the house hot sauces on everything. This can easily go on a Top 5 list of food on Sanibel and Captiva.

In a word - AWESOME. Easily the best fried chicken Ive had in years. The crispy skin is A-mazing! The "8-combo" was more than enough for my family of 4. The chicken was great, the biscuits fluffy and tasty, and the collard greens were also quite good. A couple tips: 1) its great for takeout 2) you can go in/out in beach attire 3) dont forget to try some of their assorted sauces, oils, and vinegars - both the wing sauce and the house sauce were tasty 4) Skip the fries and go for some of their more adventurous sides. You wont be disappointed. When we return to Sanibel, Pecking Order will surely be on our to-do list! Yummy!!

OMG Wow! I miss my "broasted" style chicken from my home state of Ohio. What a great find here on the island. The chicken was every bit as good as I remembered!! We also ordered fries and okra. Everything was hot, delicious, and on time. Will order again before we leave! Great food, great price, and a great owner. Having a great time here and this is like the icing on the cake! Already gave our menu to other guests at the hotel who smelled the food upon our return! If you dont try this place, you are missing out!!

This place is just perfect for the island. I called in a large order to pick up. They were quick but took time to make sure we had everything we ordered. They even helped me to the car with all of it. Friendly, efficient, reasonably priced------that was before I even touched the food! All 10 of us loved it. Kids bucket is perfect for beach picnic. I got a breast and Harlem special. Chicken and Waffles was great.So delicious! Will be back!

Chicken was delicious. I generally judge chicken by flavor, cripsy texture, and how juicy the white meat is as it tends to be more dry than other pieces of chicken and this place has some of the best fried chicken from a restaurant. Service was quick and staff was very friendly with the owner chatting with us. If you like collard greens I definitely recommend them! We tried the Harlem special and enjoyed every bit of it.

A-Mazing CHICKEN!! YOU MUST GO!!!!!!!! Its right next door to Subway. I had the chicken n waffles - put Texas Pete hot sauce on top - EXCELLENT!! Wife had a fried chicken breast and sausage gravy & biscuits. LOVED IT!!! Ate all over Sanibel & Captiva & this was our favorite!! Bridgit was the best! Thank you for the Lava Cake to celebrate our 30th Anni. YUM!!
