Walked in at 4:30 because online it stated open at 4pm. Told it doesnt open til 5. Obviously this happens a lot because they said they have been telling them to change this. When we did get to our table I noticed how dirty the floor was. Looked like it wasnt swept for a long time and the table was dirty. How does this happen when we got there when the place opened? Asked if I could have the prime rib sandwich rare and waiter said yes you can have it any way you like. It arrives and it is far from rare, not pink at all. Waiter goes back to kitchen with it and comes back out telling me it now cant be rare. Now I order something different. Takes quite some time and person I am with is basically done. Ask to see manager and told no manager there. Will be in shortly. Still waiting and tell them to put what I ordered in togo box and that I really want to talk to a manager because there should be some compensation for this. They go and believe called the manager. Came back and said yes it will be comped. Bill comes and the entree is still on there. Again another phone call to manager. They (a different person this time) come back and tell me now that if your taking it with you you need to pay for it. Huh???? Long story short, manager does finally show up and spoke with him. He apologized and said that the problem wasnt told to him correctly and that something got lost in translation. Still.....it is overpriced to begin with except for maybe the pizza. I will not go back.

I loved Gios in Ellenton and wanted to give this a try. Overall really disappointed. No kids menu, ok fine. So I order them an adult plate of ravioli to share and they share me a split fee.... umm... ok. Then $4 per small cup of milk for each of them... ok. So, maybe we werent supposed to bring 2 well behaved kids, I get it now. Im a dirty martini lover and this was the first time Ive ever experienced this... I order one while Im waiting for my table and opt for Titos. It tastes like straight vermouth and I cant choke it down. When we get our table I order another one and ask that it please be light on the vermouth (a traditional martini barely has a splash) (he sees Ive barely touched the first one I ordered and already cashed out on at the bar), and I get the exact same thing again. I leave the entire drink sitting there untouched. We order our meals and I order a salad to start and our entrées come and I never get my salad. The waiter, who is obviously new, apologizes and brings the salad after my meal. I order a cappuccino with dessert and its a very tiny cup of overly scalded milk for $6: The milk literally had a skin on top of it. The two mini cannoli were good, although I know many will say it was way overly sweet for traditional cannoli, but for me it was the best part.... maybe because there was no more disappointment around the corner. Super pricey meal for what we got.

This use to be my favorite place to eat. My boyfriend ordered the lobster ravioli & it was cold, ice cold. They took it back & just microwaved it. You could tell by the taste. After getting it like that he lost his appetite & didnt want anything else. The manager/owner came over & apologized & gave us a $25 gift card. We went back for my birthday, against my suggestion my boyfriend decided to order the lobster ravioli again to give them a chance at getting it right. It was ice cold again. He ordered something else. When we went to pay we were told that the gift card wasnt good. Seriously?!? My boyfriend said he would never go back there. I decided to go with my friend who has never been there because the good is normally very good. When we went it was busy, we found a table top in the bar area and sat there. It took awhile to get our drinks & our food & we were ok with that. We werent in a hurry. Not one person checked on us during our meal. As soon as our plates were picked up someone came over & asked if we needed anything, we said we were fine, then a second persona asked right after. When the third Persian asked I said "do you need us to leave because you need this table or something? Not one person asked during our meal but as soon as our plates are gone everyones on us." It was very unwelcoming & now I will never return there.

Decided to try this place after we just moved to the area from California. Needless to say we wont be back! The food was tasteless and with $20.00 a plate you would think the plates would atleast be clean! Our plates had caked on grime around the edges. The martinis dont have prices so 2 for 1 you are thinking a great deal until you see how much they actually cost. The appetizer had the smallest scallops i have ever seen! About the size of a nickel. Above all that I think the waiter forgot about us! We sat with empty glasses and waited over 20 min for our check. We couldnt get out fast enough. Your better off getting a frozen meal out of the freezer section. The pasta was sad and the chicken was slimy with no flavor at all. I will say the bread that they give is was good. Not sure how this place stays open as we went on a Saturday evining and should have known by all the empty tables that we were in for a treat. This place is anything but fabulous.

Horrible! I gave it 1 star for the decor. It is a pretty place but that is it. We came to this location 2 times when they first opened and were not impressed. Decided to try it again after several years and were horrified. They claim to have a 2 for 1 martini special at Happy Hour. What special? $12.95 for two martinis that barely had a enough liquor for 1 drink. The pizza was bad also. The crust was tasty, and the sauce was not horrible, but the toppings! Non-existent. We ordered a small pepperoni and mushroom for an appetizer. We counted two pepperoni (the skinniest I have ever had) and maybe 6 pieces of chopped up mushroom. Save yourself the trip. Needless to say we did not stick around for anymore drinks or food. Surprised this place is even still open.

Joia is a gem of a place in the Lowes shopping center in Riverview. The food is great, we love the Rustica with added peppers. They serve warm fresh bread for the table with an oil based dipping sauce thats tasty as well! They have a great outdoor seating area with torches and often have live music which is always entertaining while not overpowering so that you cant have a conversation with friends. Theres also a very good sized bar thats far enough away from the dining area as to not be distracting while youre eating. We really love having a local, non-chain restaurant in our area and the only thing I wish they could do would be expand the draft beer selection beyond Bud Lite and Stella, otherwise, its top notch.
