To be fair, we went for breakfast at 8am on the Saturday of pirates weekend. We expected to wait some time with our large group, and be fed the average greasy-spoon fare. What is unfortunate is that with the foresight of pirates weekend, which happens every year, and brings in droves of patrons, is that the restaurant had two servers. After 2 hours of waiting for eggs, bacon, and toast, the food was exceedingly unexceptional. They could have walked down to the nearest McDonalds and gotten the big breakfast, and put it onto a ceramic plate in the same amount of time, and we wouldnt know the difference in speed or flavor. The North Star is a local place, and several tables of locals were fed and expedited from the restaurant while we watched. This is to be expected in a vacation getaway, so no surprises there. I feel bad for the staff, who was overworked and under-supported by their management during such a busy time. Dont go to the North Star if youve ever been there before. If you continue to go there, enjoy it for the whimsy of it being next to the old North Star sign, and have your sub-par favorite dish, and enjoy being with your friends, family, and townsfolk. 1 star for the old sign and 1 star for the staff.

They dont know how to handle busy apparently. We (a family of 5) arrived to just over 3/4 full house. We were greeted immediately but when I said we were 5 I got a face of, "Im not sure where Im going to put you." When I said we could put my little one in a high chair we were then seated at a booth. The booths are really tight by the way, not the best choice of seating for those who are bigger. Service was friendly enough when they were there, but getting attention to GET that service was something else altogether. Food took about 45 minutes or more (eggs/toast/pancakes) to come out, and NO ONE so much as stopped at our table to check on drinks or apologize for the wait. 2 larger parties were in there and all attention was devoted to them at the cost of the other tables. No wait staff covered each other to keep a fluidly running ship either, each one focused only on their tables, walking right by others without even acknowledging others. The food was good, reasonably priced, ok portions. Kids under 10 can eat free from a limited menu. But the shotty service completely overshadowed my visit.

My family and I tried coming here on a Saturday morning for breakfast and they were very busy we decided to come back for dinner instead figuring they were a decent place. We were sadly mistaken. We should have read the reviews prior. Not only did we have to wait an hour with only 4 other tables. When we finally got our food my husbands plate had a pile of grease on his plate and my fried shrimp was still raw. The waitress did right and had told them to make another order but I declined. By this time it was around 8:30pm both waitresses were on and off their phones and there was music blasting from the kitchen. Very unprofessional.

I am a regular at this establishment and have always had great service and food. It is great for breakfast and lunch and the dinners are good to. The prices are good and cheap for the area. Always have felt welcomed and have had Daemon as a waiter for many times. He provides great, quick, friendly, and attentive service! The owners are nice and all staff friendly! The place is clean and I hope this place has many more years of good business. Would def recommend that you go here and this is as local as it gets!

Dont expect to get your breakfast timely! Waited 50 minutes for our orders of eggs, toast and home fries. Have never waited more than 15 minutes in 100s of restaurants in WNY. We left, without getting our food, never to return and luckily there was a Tim Hortons in Watertown to grab something quick.

I wish I had read the reviews before going here. First, we had to practically seat ourselves since no hostess could be found around 9AM. We waited over an hour for our food, and it was mediocre. I would NOT recommend this place as there are other great restaurants in the area.

Went for breakfast on Fathers Day. Waited for 40 minutes after placing our order when my husband finally had to ask where our food was. Waitress said she turned it into kitchen but kitchen said they didnt have it. We left. BTW, chocolate milk was lousy.

They say they open at 6am every day butwhen my family arrived at 6 30am they were closed.What diner dosent open up for breakfeast (especially one that advertises that it does)? Had to drive to the next closest place which was an hour away... a McDonalds.

Most of the bad reviews are from "wait time". If you want fast food go get pancakes from McDonalds, if you dont mind waiting and want a great fresh breakfast go here. Good food takes time, eventually America will learn that.

It took over 20 minutes to get our food. That was not the biggest issue however. We battled flies while waiting for food that was just horrible. Even though we were driving through we just can not recommend this place.
