Although I usually don’t write adorations about restaurants until I’ve eaten there a few times, I must make an exception for the wonderful Al Salam Restaurant in Plantation. Lovely aromas emanate from the pot of tea you simply must order. Service is courteous and prompt: baskets of warm and excellent pita bread and plates of olives and festive bright pink turnips adorn your table from start to finish. Appetizers at Al-Salam are complete meals in themselves (and are served in generous enough portions for carry-out): hummus, baba ghannouge, and falafel, to name a few. Let me state for the erecord the falafel had such fine taste and texture (crisp on the outside, absolutely creamy inside) I would definitely order this again; the baba ghannouge was delicious and held up well in my refrigerator, perhaps even become more delightful after having more time to marinate and blend the smokiness and tang together; and the hummus was the best hummus I have ever had the pleasure to consume. A chickpea and sesame feast, you could say! My main meal included a side of spicy rice, which combined the best rice in the world (IMHO), Basmati, with Al Salam’s “special spices,” which truth be told, are likely used to prepare everything this fantastic little restaurant serves up. Really really good food at very reasonable prices is hard to find anywhere, but you may, in fact, just find yourself replacing that weekly pizza delivery with a weekly trip to Al Salam. Oh, and did I mention the atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for pleasant conversation (as is, I imagine, the coffee shop and hookah bar just next door)? Can there be a better casual dining experience in Plantation, Florida? Kind of makes you wish you there, right now, doesn’t it. Spot the poetic device structuring this little writing and our next meal at Al Salam is on me, for I will return there to savor the musakkah, stuffed grape leaves, spanakopita, and much much more. . .

I called Alsalam restaurant on Friday at 3:00 pm to make a reservation for iftar (dinner)at 8:15 pm the lady ask me for how many people and I told her 2 adults and 3 kids, she then asked me about the kids age, and I provided her with there ages , she told me they will charge for the kids older than five, we show up at the restaurant few minutes before 8 pm, and the waiter ask me if I have reservation, and I told him my name, at that moment the owner came in and whispered some thing to the waiter looking at my kids then the waiter immediately mention that they going to charge the full price for all the kids( they never asked about how much they charge before) I told him that we called and what the lady told me, he said simply that the lady do not know anything!! I asked to speak to the manager(hoping for an apology and frankly I was willing to pay and move on) he came and said he can do anything because it is the weekend and he has a long waiting List, and he have to charge the full price, at this point I was concerned about an apology for the wrong information that was given to me over the phone, put the manager was so rude and refuse to provide an apology and take responsibility of the wrong information that given by his staff, he choose to lose a customer when he saw a waiting list and people willing to pay a full price over people with kids that he will charge lower price, We are a regular customers to Alsalam restaurant for over six years but this new manager or owner desperately need a customer service class to learn how to apology and talk to customers when they do mistakes. Very cheep and poor management , by the way one of the reviews here is written by the owner him self!!! That is awful

When I went there for the first time I gave a 5 star and wrote "Best Middle Eastern Food I have ever had :D" .... now I am editing my review....last night I was on my way with my friends at 9:10PM, so my friend called them to let them know we are coming(because sometimes these type of restaurants close early by their wish). the guy hung up the call two times, my friend called them third time and the guy said they will start cleaning kitchen at 9:30PM, my friend transfer the call to me, I told him we will be there before 9:30, so if he wants I can order by phone and we will eat the food over there, the guy was asking me do I want take out or not? I again told him he can do it as a take out so the food will be ready as soon as we reached and we will eat quickly. He replied me "please hold I need to ask my manager" and after few second he hung up the call intentionally for the third time. So we just turn our car and we went to Al-Natour. We were at Al-Natour until 10:30PM, and the food was also cheaper and taste was way better than Al-Salam.

The Tabolie, Falafels, and desserts are amazing however the Spanikopitas are very disappointing. I ordered it twice from this location and both times it was a disappointment. It is full of cheese and had only very tiny specs of spinach inside of it even though their website shows them with more spinach than cheese. Upon the second time of my ordering it I asked the host if they could make sure that spinach was actually inside of the spanikopita. When I picked up the food and broke one open to check it there were only specs that looked like sprinkles of parsley inside aside from all cheese. I then said to him that there was no spinach again. He pointed at the little indistinguishable green specs. I couldnt roll my eyes hard enough. I told him that Id never order that dish again.

Went for lunch with a friend. Food was very good but the waitress and waiter on staff that day were the most unpleasant restaurant employees we have ever encountered. Have never heard no so many times in any dining experience. Gave a hard time about appetizer coupon as advertised on their own website. Poor table service we had to ask for everything and remind them repeatedly. Waitress had very bad attitude and made our lunch experience very unpleasant, we were in a hurry to finish our food and leave. I suggested to my friend within a mile of this restaurant there are other mediteranean restaurants that serve food as good as this location minus the bad attitude. Probably wont go back or refer friends I will stick with Pita Plus.

Stale and not fresh Baklava/dessert. I drove 32 miles one way to pick up some desserts that I wanted to take with me to another state. After picking them up ($45 for few pieces) and when I opened the box at home and had one before I packed them I was extremely disappointed. The pieces were dry, the syrup was non existing, and they tasted very flat ... Since they make a lot at the time they have to get rid of the old pieces and the guy knew exactly which ones as HE picked the pieces and boxed them ... very, very, very disappointing, the trust is dead.

Was in the mood for middle eastern food and came across their website. I knew I had to try it! I took my parents when they came to visit and the food was great! We each had the lentil soup and shared the appetizer type platter. Yummm. The chicken was great too. Wonderful seasoning and LOTS of food at excellent prices. We couldnt resist dessert, which was fabulous as well. Cant wait to go back next time the rents are in town!
