While the food is okay, the service is not. We have eaten here two times. The first time, we were with several other couples, and it was kind of chaotic when our bill came at the end of the meal. There was something "funky" about it, but I couldnt figure out what the issue was and called it to the attention of the server. He immediately said, "Oh, I fix. I fix." And he took our bill and came back with a new one. We paid and left. Some time later, we went to dinner by ourselves. When the bill came, it seemed to be a bit on the high side. I added it up, and it was EXACTLY $10.00 over what it should have been. I flagged down a server (ours had vacated), and he said, "Oh, I check. I will fix." He returned with our new bill. I asked what the issue was, and he said, "Oh, they didnt clear out the adding machine and so it added it on to your bill." There are absolutely no items on the menu for exactly $10.00. Everything ends in $.99. I am convinced that they pull this scam on many people. Be alert and check your bill carefully when dining here.

Ive been frequenting La Nopalera for about 10 years now and have always loved the food. Unfortunately, I made an attempt to have my birthday dinner at the Riverside location on St. Johns avenue, however, the EXTREMELY RUDE host would not seat us because our entire party wasnt present yet. I explained to him that two guests would be arriving late but we wanted to be seated and begin appetizers and drinks prior to their arrival but he refused. I nicely told him that we would have to take our business elsewhere and in an air of arrogance looked at me rudely and retorted "Ok, thats fine." I have been eating at this particular La Nop multiple times a month for almost 2 years now and because of this experience will NEVER return. In addition, the service at this particular La Nop is atrocious. I wont be spending a dime there again.

Horrible! Service was terrible and food was worse! We asked for a manager and we were told he left to go get food, what does that tell you? Example: we ordered queso, my friend ordered a side of sour cream with her dinner, it came with the queso. The carne asada was dry, no flavor and looked as if it had been sitting around. The beans were inedible and tasted rancid. I had the shrimp tacos, which I didnt eat. The server was rude and spent a total of 6 minutes at our table, including when he took our order. Will NEVER go there again. The only reason theres one star is so I could write this review. I would give it a -5 over 10.

Great place for lots of Mexican food. The portions are large and the prices are inexpensive. You sit down and given a basket of chips and salsa. Their queso cheese is some of the best. I like getting their lunch Fajitas M-Sat. Not too much food. They accommodate my gluten free eating by providing corn tortillas for their fajitas. Parking is never a problem. They used to have a problem with waiting for a table but since their expansion a few years ago that is no longer a problem. Restaurant is group friendly.

We had not been to La Nopalera in some time, but late last week, we decided to go with our niece and nephews. It was crowded on a Thursday night, but we were able to find a booth large enough for 7 and it was worth it. The chips, the salsa and the service were amazing. Its hard to get everything in for all 7 people in the bustling crowd, but we managed and survived. Food was great, services was amazing and we only spent $53 for 7 of us there. It was well done and worth it. I highly recommend La Nopalera.

They have officially lost my business! I waited 45 minutes for my waiter to bring me my check and to-go boxes after I asked 4 times because he was too busy getting loaded and standing at a table taking shots with customers. The cashier understood my frustration and apologized however the manager acted like he could care less. Ill be damned if Im going to spend my hard-earned money at a place that allows their employees to get wasted while on the clock that are supposed to be serving the customers.

First and last time to this location, the other locations are way better. Im not sure what they put in the margarita, but it wasnt right. I ordered the Steak Tampiqueno, which must translate to overcooked rubbery steak with 6 pieces of overcooked shrimp on a plate of rice with virtually no guac. Disappointed as we took some guests from out of town with us and it did not impress. Ill stick to the ones in Flemming or Argyle.

The food was amazing but the service was pretty terrible. We waited to be seated for at least 5 minutes with no acknowledgement that we were there. The guy that kept walking by without greeting us ended up being our server and he was very impatient and he had an attitude. He may have been having a bad day but you dont bring your bad day to work with you when your occupation is in customer service .

Food is always great - fresh and HOT! (they even have to warn you about the plate being hot!) Service - ALWAYS excellent - they take time to learn their customers. Every time I go in, they always ask about my mother and my sister (if they arent with me). Theyre always quick but they dont rush you at all. The price is great and the portions are huge!!! Love this La Nop!

Good food............But customer service MATTERS. The girl who answers the phone to take orders, -SARAH-, is by far the rudest person Ive ever encountered at any La Nopolera in Jacksonville. And the bar staff is just as bad if youre there for a pickup order. They have made this same impression on two separate occasions & we will never go back to this location.

This place is what you call La NOPEalera. This isnt Mexican food. Who wants guacamole thats avocados blended with mayonnaise? Thats about what it looks and tastes like. My burrito with chicken was burned terribly. Beans and rice were OK, but those are pretty hard to mess up. Kids food was good. This place just doesnt cut it for me, Im sorry.

Been here before, loved the food, the last 2 times have been horrible!!! Crappy service, food got dropped off and we were never checked on....On top of that, the food was cooked incorrectly so we wasted half of our food just to be able to eat it because the server didnt come back by to see how we were doing. Not so sure well be back here!!!

My wife and I go to La Nopalera on St. Johns Ave at least once a month. It is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. I dont know that I have ever had a bad meal or service that was less than excellent there. The California Burrito is amazing and more food than even I can eat in a single meal (and that is saying something)

COME HUNGRY. Unless you just naturally can eat insane amounts of food, I suggest not eating for the day previous to your trip here. Chips are free and the portions are generous to say the least. Prices are very fair compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Drinks are also fair priced and taste great.
