Last Friday when my husband asked me where I wanted to go for dinner- I told him to take me to Boatyard because we hadnt been to it since they reopened it and that I wanted to feel the "wow effect". My husband made reservations with a young lady by the name of Whitney and when we got there she took us to our table. She was very nice and very pleasant. The young men at the valet parking were very nice when we got there as well as when we left. When our server DONALD came to our table #12, he introduced himself and he explained the menu, made suggestions and was very friendly and accommodating. We had the Bimini Bread (honey butter) and it was so good we bought one to take home. The drinks were awesome. For appetizers we ordered the lightly breaded Calamari and jumbo lump crab cake, they were delicious. For dinner I ordered the Florida seafood paella (suggested by Donald) and it was the best I have tasted so far. My husband ordered the Bone in Ribeye with marble potatoes (the meat was so tender and juicy and the potatoes were so flavorful) and for dessert we had the decadent chocolate with raspberry (a must have if you love desserts) and we finished our evening with an Amaretto Disaronno and an espresso. Donald was always on top of everything. He never waited for our glasses to be empty, picked our plates as soon as we took our last bites and made sure our table stayed clean all the time. He was very attentive at all times and did everything with a smile. He made our evening a very memorable one. The open kitchen lets you see how your meal is being prepared and how everyone works together to get it to your table as soon as it comes out. Whether you dine inside or the inside bar (its beautiful) or if you prefer to dine outside, the outside bar or just relax on the couches by the dock...marina yacht-watching (the water views are breathtaking). Before we left we asked Donald if we could speak to the manager...and to our surprise he came over right away and introduced himself as Rick, he was very friendly and courteous. We congratulated him for how everything looked, how professional and attentive his employees were (especially our server DONALD), how organized and clean the kitchen looked and how we had observed him walking all over the restaurant, smiling at the customers and checking everything. He gave us his business card and asked us to come back and visit soon. Which we will...TONIGHT!! And hopefully many more Friday nights to come and we will ask for our AMAZING server DONALD again!!! We cant wait for our "WOW" experience with Donald again tonight!

We came by boat on June 27th after I had highly recommended it to our group of 16. I was totally dissapointed with the food. Here is the following breakdown: Bimini Bread = Usually this is fantastic but there was no salt added and un-salterd butter when making it. the bread was tasteless. The honeybutter that they supplied with the bread was also tasteless as again they had used "Un-Salted" butter. Everyone at the table did not like it and most of the loaf was left on the table. What a shame that they have taken it on their own to change a great Bahamian recipe that had always been a winner in the past. ( I notified the waiter and he only laughed and said that he would tell the chef) Ordered the Calamari = Not as good as it usually is. They left lots of the main body parts attached, which they usually remove. Sauce was not as good as it normally is. Salad = Got the Signature Diane salad. This is usually very good but this time they left out the orange segments and less chichen. On the dry side Main course = Ordered the Martinique Black Grouper. Over cooked and very dry also the maccaroni and cheese was over cooked and hard as a rock. The only thing that was good was the asperagus. I did not report the food problems to the waiter or chef as I was totally embarrased that I had raved about this place to our 16 guests that were with us. Either they have changed the chefs at the restaurant or the chef has taken it on his own to eliminate salt completely on the food. This chef needs to watch "Restaurant Impossible" where Chef Robert Levine stresses that a little salt will make the food taste better. I am taking this restaurant off of my prefered list for the guests at our vacation home until I am satisfied that the Chef will start cooking like it use to be. It has been a few months since I was there and am very dissapointed with the food. Too BAD!

Took my mother out for her birthday last night after hearing rave reviews about the place, but we were in for quite a disappointment and I wish we took photos. DECOR: Needs updating. The tables/booths are old. Feels like being in a Red Lobster. For the prices they charge, they should at least have tablecloths on the table. Bathrooms are disgusting and sinks are corroding. MENU & PRICES: $90 w/tip for two entrees and their 42oz famous drink for two ($25 and you get to keep the glass). They have a burger for $13 minimum, their fish entrees start at $24, and they charge you $4 for their bread. $4 for bread?? Most places give you that for free!!! FOOD: I had the crab cakes entree. Yes they were jumbo, but they were filled with breading. It came with a side of asparagus, which were clearly over cooked and cold. The tablespoon serving of corn relish left much to be desired. My mom had the Tilapia (Jerk glazed), steamed veggies, and garlic mashed potatoes. Garlic was nonexistent, and I think they forgot the jerk on the fish, which was definitely not fresh. Only the veggies was decent, but $24 for veggies is ridiculous. The portions were small. Definitely not enough for doggie bags and we left their hungry. We didnt even bother asking for the dessert/coffee menu. Didnt want take the chance with overpriced tiny portions. We decided to have dessert elsewhere. Overall: Great service Fast kitchen The 42oz drink was delicious, but was filled with ice and juice. Didnt taste any alcohol Easy parking Terrible food Small portion sizes Overpriced This places needs revamping and prices evaluated. Youre much better off going to red lobster for seafood and still have leftovers.

Went to the Boatyard for my friends birthday celebration on Thurs. which was Ladies nite. Great crowdand energy. When we arrived we went ahead and reserved a table for 10:45 cuz we knew we would want to eat after drinking and we were told the last reservation was at 10:45. When we sat down for dinner and ARMED Policeman informed us that they were closing in 15 minutes and or waitress told us it was our last chance to order our entire meal because they were closing in 15 minutes. We ordered our food and ate in about 30 minutes, and paid our bill. Before we knew it, the Policeman came back and very aggressively told us that we needed to leave because the restaurant was closing and we were the last ones. We were kind of stunned - I decided to say something to management; as my friend and I were walking to the bathroom, we say the manager in his office and expressed our unhappiness at having been confronted by a police officer. The manager was super hostile and belligerent even tho I kept saying Im your customer, you should be on my side and worrying about my satisfaction and experience. He actuality berated me for confronting him while he was sitting in his office. I regret even giving this restaurant 1 star - I only did because the food was not hideous. Needless to say, I will never go back there again. The experience there ruined our whole nite! I will never go back.
