My partner and I were there on Valentines night as we do so often, but dockside. Given the occasion we decided to reserve to eat upstairs instead expecting the experience to be so much better than it always is. Which is great...!! Much to our disappointment it was not. We arrived for our 8:00PM reservation and were seated just before, so far so good. We ordered and it was after 8:50PM before we were served our first course, Lobster Bisque which I might add was already cold. Amazingly the tables behind and next to us who arrived later were already halfway through theirs. Ironically all apparently hetero couples. We seemed to be the only male couple there at the time and so hope that was not the reason why the service toward us seemed so second rate and indifferent. We made no fuss about it and waited patiently as hungry and frustrated as we were. We finished our bisque which I might add was delicious had it been warm enough. All the while watching as the table behind us continued to be attended to constantly and efficiently. Ourselves, still waiting as staff walked past us at 9:45PM not even acknowledging us. At this point noticing others already enjoying their main course and we still sitting there with not as much as a hint as to whether our meal was even in the preparation stage. We had the Fried Spiny Lobster Tail Buttermilk Breaded Lobster Tail with Purple Potato Hash, Cilantro, Chorizo, Tomatoes and a Sweet Corn & Chipotle Cream Sauce and the Grilled NY Steak Grilled Steak with Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Sautéed Broccoli and Wild Mushroom Demi-Glace. Both very good but much was lost given our less than pleasant mood at this point. This is not to say that we will not visit again but definitely the dock where the service is so much more competant. Not to mention more moderately priced. Unfortunate experience had it not been for the occasion and each others company. I did take the time to express our experience on their opinion card but as expected have yet to hear anything in response.

The food is phenominal. We started with a rock shrimp appetizer and pei muscles. The rock shrimp was hands down the best Ive ever had. It was one of the best seafood dishes Ive ever had. Muscles were as expected. I had the grouper with quinoa and the divers scallops. The scallops were huge. They were the diameter of an orange. We took too long with our appetizers so I think they sat for a little and the crust on the scallops broke down and wasnt as crisp as they looked. Still they were great. The grouper was terrific. There were so many flavors that came together to make an amazing entree. The atmosphere was lacking in my oppninion (but still good overall). It was advertised as amazing views. Over the years the marina has been built up, ruining the views. Instead of looking at a beatiful coastline in the intercoastal, you look at a bridge, condos, houses, or huge boats. They have large windows which could be open on cooler days. It was very hot when I went so thankfully they were closed so we could soak up some much needed AC.

We went by water taxi, which was a great start. When we arrived we decided to take first available, for seating since we hadnt made a reservation. We were told that there was a separate menu for the upper and the lower level. They had a table available on the lower level so thats where we went. When we were seated, we were handed a menu for both floors. We ordered from both menus. We started with the alligator bites. We were glad we tried them, but probably wouldnt buy them again. They were more of a novelty item for us. I had the king crab with mashed potatoes and asparagus. These were the biggest, most succulent crab legs I have ever eaten. The asparagus, perfectly grilled and the mashed potatoes yummy. Back to the crab legs. There is no way for me to do them justice. You just have to try them. . For dessert we shared the brownie with ice cream with the peanut brittle on the side. It was delicious. Even the coffee was good and the sugar cubes were a nice touch. Our waitress was very nice, attentive and knowledgeable.

I really dont understand how this restaurant can be rated 6 stars on the ads we see in several magazines !! We were there last night with people from out of town. Looking for a nice elegant restaurant. The nice picture on the ad brought out attention ( by the water, nice view, boats) . Yes all that is true, but the seating .........from the minute you get there you feel in a cheap cafeteria with sticky chairs and tables. We definitively needed something nicer. I still dont know why we didnt leave right there !! The first thing we saw was the green plastic basket ( ordinary presentation for an "elegant" night out !!!) . We were in our nice attire and everyone around us was in shorts and flip flops. We then decided to order a "cup" of clam chowder and all four were served in a mug, not a soup bowl . Not only that but all four were dripping soup all around. The presentation was HORRIBLE !! I simply didnt want to eat it. Mugs looked dirty and not nice. All other food was just OK ! Nothing great. We will NEVER go back .

Ok well the twin maine lobster deal is gone.. AND the owner for some retarded reason took the Oysters off the menu. Hmmmm I guess the new lights at night are cool so you can see the fish but I mean I was coming for the food. I cant say enough about the location and the fish feedings and stuff, but I just went tonight 12-01-2008 and have been going since august a couple times a month and now im sorry to say i dont think ill be coming back until they fix the menu. I mean come on its a "fisheries"????? without oysters? Anyway if you are the owner and are reading this Ill be calling every month to see if all is fixed and youll have my business but until then its unfortunately South Port, Blue moon.. or some of the other fine seafood places down here. You were my favorite! August Review: DOWNSTAIRS: Twin maine lobsters 29.95!! awesome.. tasty as hell. Oysters were perfect and big. First time there at 6pm and they were feeding tarpon at the dock.. good show.

Locals recommended the restaurant to us. The ambiance was great, but that was the only component that met our expectations. We were a group of six for lunch. The food was okay, but pricey for the quality. Everyone in our party ordered something different, but the group felt similarly about the overall experience. Everything tasted bland. As a side note, a foreign hard object made its way into the smoked fish dip, which I bit into. I know these things can happen, even at the best restaurants, but we were surprised by the response of the wait staff showed little reaction when brought to her attention. We sat inside at a table and the service was adequate. The bar area was a bit empty, but the space was very nice. I suspect it would be a nice happy hour spot with a great view. Not sure I would go back to eat, but as long as you temper expectations to something more along the lines of bar food, it may be worth visiting for the ambiance.
