We paid an extra $5 to get the catch of the day, swordfish, added to the Captain Bobs Seafood platter (reg. $28). We chose an outdoor seating. It was right out in front of the piers where boats were coming in with their fresh catches, and you can take the steps out the back patio to get to the little beach area. The seafood platter was delicious. The swordfish was like if a good steak and a fish had a baby. I believe Boshamps is known for their oysters. They have several ways of preparing them; ours were grilled and mouthwatering. The sides were fries, coleslaw, and hushpuppies and they complemented the food well. I got a fruit salad that was also fresh and well medlied. We ordered blue crab legs as an appetizer. They were delicious so far as fish fry goes although I hadnt expected them to be fried. The habanero sauce that comes with them is just barely spicy--a good amount. We also got a mint juliep and a miami vice which is a pina colada mixed with strawberry daiquiri. The juliep tasted of strong rum with undertones of mint. The Miami Vice was so sweet and fruity that I forgot it was alcoholic and drank too much, so the helpful waiter brought me some complimentary hushpuppies. The background music was in good taste. My one constructive feedback is that someone besides the waiter brings your food, so if you need additional service or have questions you have to wait for your waiter to return. In our case we were not brought silverware till halfway through our meals.

Based on fellow Yelper reviews, we tried Boshamps and we were not disappointed. We wanted some fresh local catch, and today the local catch was Snapper or Grouper. We both opted for the "LOCAL CATCH OF THE DAY grilled, fried or blackened, creamy cheese grits, local okra-tomato maque choux 24.95". I ordered it grilled and my wife ordered it blackened, and both preparations were DELICIOUS and FRESH! The fish was so juicy and tender and on the bed of creamy cheese grits it was just perfect. I had never had creamy cheese grits before and it was a great compliment to the fish. The restaurant is super spacious, but its quicker to get seating inside vs outside, especially if the weather is perfect. Our server was Skip and he had such great customer service. He gave us excellent menu suggestions and checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. I also asked him how the local catch fish made its way from boat to table, and he was explained how a majority of the fish are sold to the market which are then sold to the restaurants. Also, that some restaurants also had their own boats and sometimes sold what they caught. He was full of wonderful information. Ill definitely be coming back to Boshamps the next time Im in Destin!

I talked with a server outside on the deck. The question I asked was. The baseball game is coming on. Could see if you could play the baseball game on TV please. No was his reply no one around here is a baseball fan. I didnt like his response. It seemed as if he took offense to me asking him bout the game. Because I am a baseball fan. I asked the superior at Boshamps and was reluctant to make any changes. He was asked a second time before he did the channel change. Other questions to the server and superior were asked. Instead of making my visit with yess. He was giving me nos. He was not making my visit friendly and comfortable. And didnt offer any suggestions go the extra mile. He was fake and not down to earth. The location was nice but lacks the customer wants and requests. Tips tell your guests how you serve sides. Certains guest cant consume salt or pepper fresh cut fries is just that plain. Advise your guests. Boshamps sells steak and burgers. Boshamps doesnt serve you streak sauce. If Boshamps has an alternatives say Ill be back with some sauce. Not do i want any question. Cause your not wanting to go the extra mile if your asking. Dissatisfied........ RB2

This was our second visit to Boshamps. The first visit was last fall for lunch, and was a pleasant experience so we decided to try it again for dinner. This time we were not so impressed. The pros- the atmosphere is nice, right on the water where you get a view of the boat traffic in the harbor, and corn hole to play while waiting for the table. The wait for the table was about 20 minutes at 7:30 pm on Saturday night, so not too bad in Destin. The cons- after placing our order, it took an hour to get our food. We did get an order of fried crab claws as an appetizer fairly quick. The main meal- catch of the day- grilled swordfish and lobster mac and cheese was not served until almost 9pm. The swordfish was overcooked and the side of cheese grits were stuck together. Taste was OK, and portion size was adequate, but seemed like the plate may have been under a warming light for a while. The lobster mac and cheese wasnt worth the $25. There were nice chunks of lobster and a whole claw on top, but was lacking much flavor and needed to add salt to give it a little more taste. The place has potential, but I will not be back anytime soon.

We made the drive in from Navarre to dine here and are glad we made the trek. We sat inside viewing out to the harbor. The atmosphere was wonderful and we were blessed with a beautiful sunset. We were seated immediately and Ashley was all over getting our drinks and giving us the in and outs of Boshamps. Its obvious she is a fan of the cook, which excited us. Both Lil D and I got the Fresh Fish of the day.....one was Grouper and the other was Snapper. Both were server over grits with an okra chutney or something. The Grouper and Snapper were out of this world, I think I like the Grouper a little better. The grits and okra stuff surprised us with wonderful sweet flavors. Oh ya, we had the fried oysters with homemade mayo dipping sauce for an appetizer. Another great menu item. Ashley served us and was a cutie that we immediately bonded with....which added to the excellent experience. The only reason its 4 stars instead of 5 is because of me. I think every restaurant has room to get better. I would recommend Boshamps to anybody.

I was not impressed. They sat a party of 6 adults and two toddlers at the high tables in the bar. The toddler in a high chair could barely see her food. Secondly, there was NOTHING on the menu that was not beef, fish or fried. No nice grilled chicken dish. Seriously? So there was a salad ($12) with grilled chicken added ($6). The salad comes in a mason jar, but seemed like that was just a gimic to hide how small it was and how few toppings there were compared to the iceberg lettuce. And the added chicken - a tiny portion. So $18 to go home hungry, literally. I ate dinner again when we arrived home. There was also a noisy, likely drunk, football fan whom no one asked to be quiet. TV screens everywhere as well. Does no one talk to their dining companions anymore? I could talk to the two people I sat next to and couldnt even YELL to the others in our party. No point in even meeting them for dinner at Boshamps. We wont be back.
