Food is excellent, service is hit or miss. I waited a few days to think about what to say because I detest writing bad reviews. But this recent visit was just terrible, service wise. The food is always fresh, flavorful and pristinely presented. But it seems as if the nights we go there dressed up we get great service and a good table. We recently went for the second time in just our running around town clothes because we didnt feel like getting dressed up, but we wanted a good meal. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and then had to wait over 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by wait staff. After we ordered, they didnt bring us hot towels. I thought it was something they no longer did, until I realized every table but ours got them. After our meal, our server brought out the check and told us we could pay on our way out. Too bad for him because we had been discussing dessert. I was so upset by that point, I just wanted to leave. We got up to pay on our way out (like the server told us to) and the lady at the front said, "Have a good night!" We could have really walked out without paying because our server was too lazy (or whatever) to collect the money from us as the rest of the servers do. Then when our server came back out, I asked him if he was new, hoping he would get the hint, but he was clueless, so I walked out while my companion paid the bill. It isnt that hard to be a good server when the food is so good, but people like us would like to see a server try. Very disappointed.

To begin with, we ordered from eat24. Shortly after placing our order we received a call stating they were out of one of the items we ordered. Thats not so bad, we can replace it with something or contact eat24 and get refunded for the difference according not to the gentleman. After waiting well over our quoted time (while other walk in orders flew out the door from start to finish before ours), we finally brought the food home. Every special item we asked for was not included, one order received no rice or noodles, nobody received any sauce, the veggies were well undercooked, the scallops were way over cooked, and the portion size was laughable. I can reluctantly take small blame on SOME of the errors for not double checking the order, but very reluctantly considering it is within their job duties. We have been taking hibachi out, from two separate locations, for a year now and have never had these problems. So, here I sit at 8:41pm with dry seafood, raw veggies, and no sauce or rice to eat it with. We will not be going back to Ootoya. We will be sticking with Kobe while in Altamonte Springs.

Charged $30 for extra meat in a hibachi bowl that is usually $15.99. The chef said "the meat is too expensive for them" so he charged me double the price. This was a to go order so I explained that if he would have clarified this over the phone I would have cleared it up then and not make that request. I would have just bought 2 regular bowls if I was going to get charged as if it was 2 bowls! I didnt want to insult them by giving the food back so I said since you are charging me as if I asked for 2 hibachi bowls thenot just give me that! The ended up give me the wrong items to go with the bowl and messed up my original order (I should have checked their but I didnt!). When I called to say hey I already felt ripped off by buying more at least you can do is get my order right. He said he had a full house (not true I was just their) and that I have to wait 40min and he wanted the original order back because they reuse it! I will NEVER go back. They werent diplomatic about the situation and they grossed me out when they said they reuse the food. The manager there clearly isnt a good one.

I had never tried this place but it is very close to my house so we thought to give it a shot. My wife only drinks a certain type of wine and nobody carries it. So I always bring my own bottle. Whether it be Ruths Chris or Capitol Grill or Carrabbas, wine corking fee is a VERY common practice. I was told by the server that I could not bring my own wine in. I asked to speak with the owner or manager. But the server came back and told me that I would not be able to do that and I was NOT permitted to bring my own wine. When you are the new guy on the block trying to make it in a very competitive market maybe just maybe they should try and cater to their NEW customers needs. But they refused to. So I went down to Hatsuhana Sushi about 1.5 miles down 436 and their manager happily corked my wine bottle for a $10.00 fee. And I spent my $150.00 dinner night with an established place that knows how to cater to customers. Good luck Ootoya Sushi, my family wont be back.

Food was alright. In my opinion, I ordered five rolls and they all tasted the same. Prices seemed a little bit high for the portion of sushi given to you. I ordered the oototya roll, the house roll, which is presented with a small piece of gold flake atop the sushi. It looked nice but the roll is pressed rice and when I tried to pick it up it broke into many pieces rendering it extremely difficult to eat. This was true for some of the other rolls as well. I only wish they had spent more time on the quality of the rolls as well as the taste instead of focusing so heavily on presentation. I would recommend Arigato sushi in Maitland. The sushi is much more flavorful, the portions are phenomenal, and the prices are unbeatable, in addition to the exceptional wait staff.

Atmosphere was great with chill electronic music. Sushi was good. We had the grilled octopus, some saki, sea world roll, ladybug roll and sashimi (escolar, tuna, salmon, yellowtail). Not the best sushi Ive had in Orlando but the sashimi was excellent. Wait staff was attentive. My only gripe was that the table felt sticky (with a leftover wasabi smear) and the window sills were dirty. I asked for more wasabi and ginger and the waiter returned with wasabi that was a different texture than the one that came with our sushi, which was weird. All in all okay experience but kind of underwhelming considering the tab was 75$.

First time here tonight! It was fantastic!! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the Sushi is outstanding! Everything is very fresh and well made. Shawn, one of the owners, gave us a sample of the Ika salad to try which was very nice. We ordered the sweet potato fries as an appetizer, they were thick slices of real sweet potatoes, then fried...not the usual processed sweet potato fries...very yummy. Then we ordered, yellow tail and spicy tuna sushi, which was extremely good. Im so glad there is a quality sushi place close to home. If you like sushi, youll love this restaurant!!! We will absolutely go back!

Im originally from Boston, and people are crazy about good quality sushi up there. Since moving to Florida a year ago, I havent found a good sushi restaurant... until now! Ootoya is a gem; the chefs are very clean in their presentation, and everything was incredibly fresh. Id recommend the Pacman, Crazy, and Dragon rolls. The gyoza were perfect: not smushy or greasy, and the red bean tempura ice cream was incredible. Our server, Emma, was fantastic with her suggestions and service. Overall, great atmosphere! I will definitely be a regular :)
