Who would have though that a lunch spot would have been my favorite spot during my trip to DC. Seriously, this place is really good, and that is coming from someone who has become very bored with Mexican food over the years. It always feels the same. But, this place feels like Chipotle on steroids. Obviously, the place has more than just tacos, but it is called District TACO, so I got three of them. As expected, I got to choose a protein, type of tortilla, rice, and various topping to put on my taco(s). I could have gotten something different on each one, but I was pretty grumpy at the time, and thus incapable of making executive decisions. I nominated for a blanket strategy. Frankly, ordering the tacos in this manner feels redundant, as there is a bar where you can pick and chose which and how much of a topping you want. They should just hand you the tortillas and let you have at a bar that is fully stocked with everything, proteins and all. Let you make it the way you want. As a side note, the salsa selection is pretty awesome, and range from mild all the way up to hot. Come to think of it, I really dont have any glaring complaints about District Taco. The food is good, and the atmosphere is casual with plenty of seating available. Its a great place to take a break and grab a bite while exploring DC.

Before District Taco had permanent locations throughout the DC Metro area, I remember hordes of colleagues venturing to their food truck every Thursday in Crystal City. Their breakfast tacos were great, but I always though their lunch tacos tasted like a dead carcass (You know when cooked meat just tastes like a dead carcass with flies swarming over it- gross). I just didnt understand all the hype... ...until they opened a location in Eastern Market. Thats when I was won over. The taco meat no longer tastes like a carcass, but it is perfectly cooked. I always get the burrito mojado (more than enough food and the sauce on the burrito makes it!). There is ton of seating here, but perhaps avoid lunch time on a Sunday. Youll have to wait for a table and no one likes people hovering near their table as you try to enjoy a peaceful lunch. The key to District Taco is the unlimited condiment bar in the back. It has several salsas to choose from and onions and peppers and more. Yum! For what it is, this is a good place. I still give this 3 stars because there are other places where you can get better Mexican food in DC like El Chucho in Columbia Heights NW.

Best "fast food" Mexican food in the area - blows away its direct competition. The salsa bar is amazing! EDIT: Its a shame to have to edit my original review because the quality of their food is definitely superior to its "fast food" competition. However, the quality control has really been shoddy the last few times that Ive visited this location. Three out of four times they have messed up my order to the point where I have to open and inspect the food in the store, prior to leaving with my takeout. Unfortunately, I probably will not be going back again after this last time where they messed up the order, and then provided me with a messed up replacement that I did not realize until arriving home. And finally, how are your chips stale???

Quick and easy meal. The best part is they use Birch for their soda, though it is rather on the high side. You can get everything for about $10. I discovered the way to not make your bowl look so lacking was to get it topped with everything. They have plugs by the wall for your electronics. Also, you have a choice of real silverware or plastic. Depending on how busy they are, they may deliver your purchase to your table. There is one entry door and an exit on the other side of the tables, so you wont be bumping into people. Its actually really organized.

One of my favorite places to eat - I typically eat here weekly. I go for three tacos - Al Pastor with Pineapple - on corn tortillas, and a small chips and guac. It fills me up, and Im usually quite hungry when I eat here! Also, the salsa bar is to die for. Unlimited free salsa to use with your chips or to drizzle on your tacos! Definitely give District Taco a try. This location also has plenty of seating and delicious coffee, and the line moves quickly!

I think the food is great, fresh and good flavor. The seem the assisting manager not really doing her job. The tables were dirty and long line. Oh because she was in the line watching her employees and dont helping to her employees to move the line and keeping the store clean. Many of the customer we stop by here in our break. No complaint about the food is great.

Great fast casual option on Capitol Hill in Pennsylvania. I actually prefer DT over Chipotle, as they dont nickel and dime you based on which meats youre getting with your order and you can get multiple kinds of salsa for no extra charge. The employees here have always been very friendly and helpful, which adds to the positive experience.

This may not seem like a great place upon first glance, but the food is outstanding, cheap and fast. They have wonderful vegetarian, including huevos rancheros that fills even a hearty appetite. The employees are all nice, and the salsa bar is fantastic. I go there more often than I should, and I take guests there too!

3.5/5 I really liked to vibe of this place. Good local fountain drinks, yummy salsa bar, the queso dip was delicious. Well priced for the district. My fish tacos were good, but get them without the pic de Gallo because it made them too wet. Also the fish was a little fishy, but definitely will give them another try.

Barbacoa was very very good, chicken and carne asade not as much. All the ingredients were incredibly fresh, they offer corn tortillas, and have a great salsa bar. While I wouldnt say that the tacos were quite 5/5, the value definitely made them a 5/5. $8 for 3 huge tacos (much bigger than something like Chipotle).

First off, Im from Arizona and I lived in southern California for a while before I moved to DC. I love mexican food. If I could, I would eat it every single day. That said, District Taco isnt bad. Its probably the second best taco/burrito in DC proper. They have an excellent salsa bar as well.

I agree with what another review said, I dont know why this place got so many stars. I was highly disappointed! I have been to many taco places - whether its authentic or Americanized for example Chipotle. This is unfortunately probably the worst Ive had!

Great food and a friendly and efficient staff. The shrimp tacos are fantastic, as is the served-all-day breakfast burrito. The only downside is the horde of idiots who cant make decisions and hold up the line in what is usually a pretty busy place.

I do like District Taco in general. The service at this location is friendly and quick. However, tacos here are merely good, as opposed to the excellent ones Ive had at the Merrifield location. Still, a worthy lunch at a good price. :)

I love this place and go there at least twice a week. A large variety of options, including all day breakfast. I normally get the naked burrito bowl with chips and queso. Be careful during weekday lunch, the line can get quite long.
