Last night, I had what was possibly the worst dining experience of my life and it was at La Lomita. We sat for 45 minutes before having to ask someone to take our order and then had to ask for our food, which arrived another 45 minutes after we ordered. It was my first visit to La Lomita and will be my last! The food was hot. That is about the best I can say for it. The salsa was like seasoned tomato juice with a few chopped tomatoes and onions added. And forget trying to get any more than one basket of chips. The guacamole was green without much flavor and the pico de gallo had virtually no flavor at all. I ordered the chiles rellenos and I didnt know that poblano chiles came in such a small size! The frijoles refritos had a touch of spice, but otherwise were unremarkable. Nothing we experienced last night was worth the 90 minute wait that we had from the time we were seated until our food arrived. There were other tables around us that were seated, served and left in the time we were waiting! When the host asked us how things were, we told him in no uncertain terms about our experience and our displeasure. He backed away and was never seen again by us. We had a sense of being ignored, especially after they realized how long we had been sitting and waiting. The response by the management and waitstaff to our not unfounded complaints was little more than a shrug, a bill for $160 for six diners and six tequila shots "on the house". I have sampled many restaurants in the DC area that feature Mexican/Southwestern cuisine and this is definitely not a place to recommend.

Went in for a quick lunch while eating saw a roach crawling up the wall I then reported it to one of the owners he in turn said sorry but sent the other owner to speak with me apologizing! At this point Im still there waiting on a container then I see 2 more roaches now crawling on the table I got up very quickly shaking my clothes and stormed out! At no point did either owner say hey this meal is on us! I had paid for my food before I saw the roaches after thinking about this event it really got to me because me and my friends go there a lot. I called today to speak with the owner he stated I can get a free meal I said no I want my money sent a friend to pick it up he then ask for the receipt its in the trash really all this for 31 dollars unbelievable I will never go again and the Heath department will be there next week

My boyfriend and I went to La Lomita on Mothers day for dinner. The service was excellent. We never had to wait for a refill on our drinks and our dinner was served in a timely manner. The food was typical local mexican food...nothing to rave about, but was good and satisfying. The guacamole was tasty and the pico was pico (it had flavor...it is hard to go wrong with pico). Even though I am not a mother, the host gave me a long stemmed rose to celebrate Mothers day. We enjoyed our time at La Lomita!

In DC, things come and go so swiftly that you are often left disappointed when you begin to cherish something and it disappears practically overnight. But there is something extraordinary about consistently savoring the delicious flavoring at La Lomita. A casual establishment full of robust, authentic Mexican food. Carne asada is marinated and grilled to perfection that you can easily cut with a fork! YUM!

Delicious Mexican food with a Salvadorean twist. The chicken and beef burritos are incredible with tomato, yellow squash, zucchini and potato fillings. Margaritas by the pitcher. Definitely the go-to place for tasty, home-cooked, inexpensive eats on the south side of town. Always love this place. Never a bad experience in 20 years. Outdoor patio, a block away from the Potomac Ave Metro Station.

Great food, fast service and friendly staff. The prices are reasonable. Ive been there twice and the first time, we sat outside and had a great time. The second time, we decided to sit inside and before our drinks arrived we left. Place is crawling with roaches inside. I told a manager and our waitress and they didnt seem too surprised. the patio was full but inside was empty.i see why!

Service was horrible... although the food came out fairly quick, it took longer to get the check than it did for us to eat. Just an overall awkward atmosphere. Ordered the chicken quesadilla, which was pretty basic, cheeses wasnt even completely melted. My lady order the chicken chimichanga & the salad looked old. The house salsa is wayyyyyy to watery.

This is our neighborhood mexican place and we went there right after moving in to the area. It has everything you want in a place. Very good, but not outstanding. The best part is the service! Also not very expensive at all! Will come back many times!

For a Mexican restaurant over rated food over price and poor service, menu dirty all sticky with dried rice and salsa that has not been wiped in weeks, old and dark dinning room. A little soap and water and paint will make a big difference.

My wife and I love this restaurant. Its our favorite place to go after a stressful week. They have a lot of servers that are really attentive. The carne asada is marinated overnight, highly recommend it. Make sure to tip generously!

The fajitas are great; the steak nachos could feed a family of four; not "cheap Mexican food," but a comfortable place you wont feel out of place wearing a t-shirt and shorts if thats your thing; service is very good.

Their service was bad. The waiter actually told us that they were closing at 10 and it was only 9 oclock. He took my friends menu cause he wasnt sure what he wants. Not professional at all. Will never come back.
