I really wanted to like this place. We visited on a Saturday morning, which may explain part of what follows. The restaurant is quite small, with a cramped, lively dining area. There is an obvious emphasis on speed of turnover at this restaurant, and unfortunately, I feel that it is impacting the quality of food they produce. I ordered the lumberjack breakfast in order to get a broad overview of their gluten-free offerings (no wheat for me!) I felt that the eggs were the worst offense on the plate. A breakfast place simply has to make a decent egg. Toast did not on this morning. My scrambled eggs were overcooked to the point where I had to cut through them with my fork. It appeared that they were precooked in a large batch and then "portioned" when an order came through. The bacon was acceptable, but the sausage and ham were sub-par. The sausage was also pre-prepared and was very firm and dry when it reached my plate. The ham looked like the "water added" variety and had a spongy texture that was very displeasing. The herbed potatoes were obviously cooked in large batches, and the level of doneness varied widely. Some potatoes were over crisp, while others were underdone. There wasnt much to like on the plate. I chalk some of this up to hastiness on the part of the kitchen. They have to bring food out very quickly in order to facilitate turn over and open tables up for waiting patrons. Other failures seem to be due to poor quality ingredients (ham.) Given the prices they are charging, I expected more. On the plus side, the service was quite good. We were greeted warmly and our waitress was very professional. Perhaps the dining experience would be different on a morning when they arent as busy, but IMO, the dining experience should be consistent regardless of the day of week, or time of day.

I really wanted to like Toast for breakfast but I have tried it 3 times and each time there was something missing. The first time the chicken was not seasoned with any salt and the biscuits were dry and seemed to be those canned type biscuits and the gravy was sparse. The potatoes tasted like dirt. The second time I had steak benedict and the same issue with seasoning on the meat was really lacking and the potatoes tasted like dirt again. I think its some type of rosemary blend they are using on them. The third and final visit was the crab cake benedict the crab cake wasnt crispy enough and I forgot to substitute the potatoes so I got the same dirt tasting potatoes they always have. The eggs have always been perfect so if you want to go have eggs and toast those items are cooked perfectly. Overall its not terrible but its not that great either. I would suggest not using that herb mixture on the potatoes trying to fancy them up and just cook good old fashioned potatoes with salt and pepper those are the basics everyone will appreciate and season the meat. Also the cook on the potatoes some were so hard I couldnt get a knife to cut them and some were barely cooked. Needs a more even cooking on the potatoes. I havent tried them for lunch so I may do that just to see how it is. This restaurant is close to me so I will give it another try just not for breakfast. The waitress the first 2 times was nice and professional the 3rd time she was just meh. The decor didnt bother me it was kitschy but it could use some sprucing up. I hope at least they read this and take the advice about the potatoes.

Toast was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to go when a location opened in Cherry Creek. This experience was not good at all from the service to the coffee to the atmosphere. First of all, I was seated while I waited for my brunch date. One of the glasses of water had a floater in it. This would not have been so bad if someone came by to check on me. It took 15 min to get served and that is just because I went to the hostesss stand to ask for a waitress. The table next to me also had problems getting their check. When the waitress finally came by, her tone was as if we were a total inconvenience for her. We got our coffee and it tasted weird... I cannot explain it. My food came out and the bacon was super greasy and my yolk was broken. Bad presentation. The amosphere also was not as expected, especially for Cherry Creek. It was nicer when the location was Village Inn before the remodel if that gives you an idea. The rest of our visit was spent listening to the busboys gab right next to our table and the annoyance of our waitress towards us. I will not visit again.... but the pancakes were good.

Breakfast here was amazing. Ive heard there can be quite a wait if youre not here early enough, but luckily enough the day we came it was snowing and there was less than a 5 minute wait. The menu was almost overwhelming, and since I love breakfast foods it was really hard to choose. They do flights (!) of pancakes and french toast, which is something Ive never seen before. Ended up going with the eggs benedict, which had prosciutto instead of Canadian bacon, which was a really nice twist. These were delicious, and the side of potatoes were also delicious. And because Im a glutton for punishment, I also got a side of french toast. The slice of french toast was huge, and was amazing. Its a slice of rustico bread, which is a nice change from the challah Im used to. Probably some of the best french toast Ive had. This place was highly recommended to me, and its easy to see why.

The food at Toast is stupid good, dont get me wrong. However, I feel like they dont quite understand how to market this place, which is bizarre, because its in a killer location. But ever since I saw this gourmet breakfast giving away free hotdogs outside as a promotion, I have questioned this restaurants understanding of itself. I think the prices could be lowered a little bit, but its not too bad. The menu items are pretty unique and not your standard breakfast fare, so its a good place to go to try something youve never had before. Overall, I like Toast, but I dont get a sense of strong identity with this restaurant...it seems to still be searching for what it is and what it does well. If it does that, I think it could become a Food Network featured attraction for southern Denver. The food, in my opinion, is that good.

I heard so much about Toast, so my wife and I tried it. We will not be back. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash. It was barley room temperature, and the portion was so small, 4 forks worth !!!!!!! the other 7/8 of the plate was cold, overcooked, and even raw potatoes. Dont ask what the eggs were like ! My wifes plate was embarrassing. She ordered Pancakes and eggs over easy, w/bacon. 1 pancake was runny inside, (it was on the bottom) the one on top was way over cooked, cold bacon, eggs overcooked. Since I moved to Denver 15 years ago, I discovered that GOOD food is hard to find, and when and if you find it, it is SO overpriced, it makes the experience too painful. I have not had 1 meal anywhere in Denver, I couldnt cook as well myself at a fraction of the price.
