I do a lot of traveling with work. Whenever Im in town I find all the vegan places via the Happy Cow app. It is a small homey place and the staff is very friendly. Upon walking in I was greeted and felt super welcomed. I decided I was going to try one thing and leave. My choice was the Serious Nachos. It was mind blowing! It was so good I forced myself to order something else. The second thing I ordered was the Cheesy burrito. Its made with a cashew cheese. Some how it was even better than the nachos. The portion sizes were really well and everything on the menu is about $6-$9. As uncomfortably full as I was I had to order a 3rd item. It was Sloppy Joes. It was just as good as the other two. There are only 16 items on this menu but this place is only a couple of weeks old so they will be adding things soon they said. This is by far one of my favorite vegan places Ive been to and Ive been all around the world. By far the best one in Colorado Springs. There arent a lot of vegan options in the Springs but you dont need any other besides this one. This place serves mixed drinks, beer, Pales and wine. The mix drinks are pretty good and have garnishes and are pretty fancy and reasonably priced at about $4. Im not sure if they have happy hour. I will be leaving this town in a week but I plan on coming back 3 or 4 more times. I will be posting pictures here off their plates. (I like seeing pictures before I order).

It is kind of ridiculous how good this place is. While I am not a full-time Vegan, I try to be much of the year, and my vegan roommate has made me appreciate vegan food, oh-so-much. I lamented for a long time that if I wanted to go out to a vegan eatery, I needed to make my way Denver. The atmosphere is superb! It is run by An-Caps, which in my book is a huge bonus. Tonight was Mac & Cheese night. First I had Chili mac, then I had the spicy chili mac. Their "chili," is also their house "sloppy joe" mix, and it is GOOD, which makes it awesome that it is used in several dishes. I have seen some complaints about variety, it definitely seems to work really well with the whole vibe of the restaurant, and those people probably didnt bother to come back on the various days like Mondays Mac and Cheese night, Sunday Spaghetti, or Wednesdays Philly Cheese Steak (cant wait to try that one!) nights. I LOVE the hours. Open until 2 every night! This place definitely corners a market that has needed to be catered to for quite some time, and I gather more and more people are getting wind of it. Bottom line, whether you are vegan or not, this is an awesome eatery/bar that I think stands at the top of all the new Hipster-gen places popping up around town. DO NOT miss out! PRO TIP, secret menu item: Andrews Shepards Pie

Weekly, Im at the Cheyenne Plaza strip mall for my older sons class at FlipShack so I thought Id take my younger son for a quick meal at The Burrowing Owl. I went in with my toddler in my arms because hes special needs and cant walk very far on his own. The place was full and very dark; so dark that I had to find proper lighting just to read the 1/3 sheet paper menu. All tables were taken, no one greeted me or offered to help me in any way so I ended up seating myself and my son on a bar stool to look the menu over. I have never seen so many varieties of sloppy joes on such a short menu. Here I thought this place was supposed to be upper crust, being vegan and all, but that menu was just plain weird. Theyve got kale walnut dip, a variety of nacho dishes, and a whole bunch of sloppy joes that I couldnt determine what they were made of. I had intended to ask the next server I saw for additional info, but as soon as she came through the kitchen door a most horrible smell met me before she did. Honestly, it smelled like a nasty ole dishwasher that needed bleached out. Guh-ross! Needless to say, we left without ordering. Side note: I looked up The Burrowing Owl on TripAdvisor and decided to share the image I found there. Probably not very family-friendly.

Excellent, unique food! Very friendly staff. Im not a hardcore vegan, so to find a place that not only has all vegan options, but that actually TASTE good (and like what theyre supposed to taste like with dairy/meat) was great. I had the bean and "cheese" dip and it was delicious! Also had the (very large) "sushi" plate. Beautifully presented, spicy, a mouthful of tastes Id never experienced, but not so weird I wondered what the heck I was eating. Will be back! Excited to find a place in the neighborhood! My ONLY COMPLAINT (in case the owners read this) was that their sound system was AWFUL. I can stand listening to A Tribe Called Quest and similar hip hop while eating dinner, but the music was pumping out of bassed-out speakers and I could only FEEL my chest vibrating...and the silverware, and my teeth...Subtle hip hop, ok. For this, Id rather not pay and just suffer through it while at a stop light.

What a wonderful restaurant! A few of my non-vegan friends took me here to celebrate a special occasion...our waiter let my friends sample different menu items before they placed their order so that theyd be more comfortable trying something new. We were all pleasantly impressed with the great food selection and drink menu. To top it off, I was blown away by the fantastic customer service! Our waiter offered us all a dessert item on the house to help us celebrate our special occasion. I cannot wait to bring more friends to the Burrowing Owl Lounge so that they can experience the prompt, kind, and high-quality service that we did! Thank you to the Burrowing Owl and the great staff for creating such an ethically conscious, environmentally sustainable, unique and comfortable restaurant for people like myself and my friends to enjoy!

Favorite place in the Springs. Very real. No bull here (literally and figuratively). Vegan bar food is solid, but a step behind Denver competition in terms of number of food items /ingredients. On the bright side, this business model allows for reduced prices. Update: Ambiance here is always good. Its usually busy, but service is pretty solid, especially at the bar. The newest team member, Susan, might be the single most pleasant person Ive ever encountered. The owners are definitely activists in many areas, though the staff is probably a bit more neutral on average. Its a good place to adopt a dog, for one thing. Speaking of which, the bar is pretty dog-friendly, which is just awesome. Drinks here consist of a huge selection of canned beers and alcoholic shrub cocktails. Its very affordable while keeping a bit of craft.

This place had great service! The best vegan restaurant Ive been to in CO Springs since moving here a month ago... I ordered the spicy mac and it is so good! Not too spicy, but has just the right amount of heat to satisfy your spicy cravings. Their seasonal kombucha was mango on tap and it was out of this world. Definitely one of the best Ive had to date. The atmosphere and decor were spot on, very eclectic. Id describe this place as sort of an upscale dive bar. The service here so far has been amazing, friendly, and attentive. Id definitely suggest giving the Burrowing Owl a really good chance. You wont be disappointed. And best of all, you dont have to journey all the way to Denver for food thats way more pricey and the same quality. Great GREAT find. Dont miss out!
