I really like this place. Its been one of the only decent sushi places Ive found near the city. Going in for the 3rd time for some dinner tonight with friends. I recommend the chef special where you get fresh sashimi, the fish is pretty decent. Having them decide what youll get makes it easy. I usually do not like specialty rolls because they are packed with mayo and other weird combinations. Not Yanako specifically but its just how america makes sushi in general. Though Im pretty picky about specialty rolls, we like the seven seas roll so far the best. The manayunk roll is also very good too. Oyster shooters are soo good if they have them. Tuesdays and Thursdays are when the fresh fish shipments come in so if you want the freshest pick, those dates are usually the best. Id give this place a 5 star but I didnt because I feel the prices are a bit high for the portions. For example.... I spent around $16 for an albacore appetizer which included 3 small pieces of albacore. 1 specialty roll is 15-18$ which is kind of unreasonable as well considering the fish quality is not too different from other sushi places Ive been to. However, I do realize they are the only sushi join in town, so I get why they pretty much have free reign on pricing. BYOB as well. They will bottle service for you which is nice. A beautiful ambiance and cute decor. Parking may be a pain since its right on the main strip of manayunk. We always train in and walk to the restaurant to avoid this.

My fiance and I went here for dinner on a Tuesday night as were new to the manayunk area and it was pretty highly rated. Our experience was horrible! First, we were the only people in the restaurant on a Tuesday night. And somehow, it took our waitress ten to fifteen minutes to come back and take our order, even though the chefs and other waiters saw that we were ready to order. Once we finally ordered our food, we saw a mouse run across the floor! We were horrified. We told our waitress and asked if we could just move outside. Not a single person apologized about the mouse and it almost seemed as though the waitstaff gave us attitude afterwards! When the sushi finally came out, it was very small portion for the price. 18 dollars for a "special" roll is ridiculous when there isnt much thats special about it. This place is trying too hard to be fancy. Just stick to sushi at reasonable prices and learn how to treat your guests! If a single person would have apologized or even acknowledged for our experience, I wouldnt be phased. But the response was horrible and we will NEVER return.

This is a great addition to Main Street Manayunk. Having already made a successful Thai restaurant on the same street, Yanakos owner seems to know what shes doing! My only small complaint is the pricing, as it seems a little steep. For example, 5 pork gyoza are $7. If you eat one in one bite, thats more than $1 a bite! Lunch, though, has a great selection of sushi and bento boxes for reasonable prices. The food is all very high quality and the sushi seems fresh. During the summer, I liked the outdoor seating, and the inside is decorated very nicely. It feels like a Japanese garden or courtyard. Very nice!

Went here for a Saturday night out with friends. We took an uber and were dropped off right outside the place and then were immediately seated. The restaurant is two floor with the top area having seating for maybe 30 to 40 people. Its BYOB and theyre good at making sure that you have proper equipment (e.g. ice for beer, opener for wine). Food was great but took a while to make it to us. My only problem with our experience was that the service was slow, but being fair, the place was packed. Id definitely give it a try again on an average weeknight as Im sure the experience would be better.

Went without a reservation on a weeknight to check it out and they acted like our presence insulted them. Sat at the bar and it was fine- nice ambiance. Ordered a few rolls including a pricey specialty roll that came topped with brown avocado. When we asked for new acocado, server acted confused. Then manager came over and actually argued with us over color of avocado. Told us they "cut fresh daily" but apparently its acceptable to them to cut rotting avocado and call it fresh. We will never return. Can we please get a good sushi place in Manayunk with acceptable service?

Wow. What an amazing new place! My boyfriend and I love going on sushi dates, and this place is definitely our new favorite! The fish is super fresh, and the sushi chef is a real artist! We had a great view of him working from the second floor, and he made sure every roll and piece of fish was perfectly made, and precisely placed on the plates. They also have an extensive ala carte menu that included many things you dont usually see. Like, sea urchin, which I tried for the first time! Yummy! 2 thumbs up and 5 stars!!

We had dinner here Saturday night, October 1. Great selection of sushi on the menu. The waitress was very helpful, informative, and attentive. We (the three of us) ended up sharing five sushi rolls, 2 of which we had the waitress choose and surprise us. She nailed it! Delicious! Wish we knew it was BYOD, for we would have brought a bottle of wine. No worries, the hot tea was very flavorful and the waitress made sure my cup was always full.

Gross and dry sushi, high priced, crappy service pulls in a crowd that dont know a thing about sushi. Too bad its the only sushi in Manayunk. The decor is nice, but everything about this place screams scheme. Han dynasty is a much better option.

This is the go-to place for sushi if you are in manayunk. Fresh fish and unique special all the time. Staff is very friendly. The bill for a couple ends up being around $50-60.
