Sole is a neighborhood GEM. We have been here at least a dozen times and it never disappoints. The food is fabulous (everything is great), the service is friendly and professional at the same time. Karen has been our server most of the times weve been there and she is sweet, gracious and efficient. The restaurant is small and the only rest room is through the kitchen but I cannot rave more about the consistently fabulous food, service and cheer that we have at Sole. Call in advance for a reservation.

Shared a burrata for starters. Loved the burrata cheese. Spaghetti carbonara was awesome too. Really liked it. Creamy and flavorful. I am aware that carbonara in Italy is pretty dry with bits of egg yolk on it, but this carbonara is not. I prefer it this way, anyway. Nice ambience. Advisable to make reservation even for weeknights. Decent portions. USD25 per pax for party of 3.

Hidden gem in an unfancy part of San Mateo. The decor is pretty simple and its small, but the food and service really is surprisingly good. Great tasting authentic Italian dishes. The gnocchi is amazing, and many of the pasta dishes are handmade. Very reasonably priced compared to other Italian restaurants in the area, but the food here hands down is a mile better.

Some of best Italian on the mid Peninsula. Pasta homemade. If gnocchi is your thing it is a must try (not truely my fav, but its very good, and my friends that are first gen Italian and grew up on it swear Soles is one of the best). Oh, and the 3 tomes Ive been there service has been excellent (but be warned it is not that big and fills at dinner time).

Beautiful little Italian restaurant, we went for a work lunch and would love to bring my wife for dinner. My only complaint was that it was a little crowded, but I understand that it cant be avoided. Plus the large party taking up half the restaurant.

Gnocchis and tiramisu are fabulous. You can trust me, Im half Italian. Prices are very raisonnable and the team is great. A must go if you enjoy as me real Italian cuisine. Often full, specially Friday evening; dont forget to book!

Excellent authentic Italian cuisine, also there is no pizza here. Highly recommend it! It is a small place, so make a reservation it if you mind the wait.
