No questions. Five Stars. We will be back. There is so much to explore. This might become our favorite Italian place. Thoughtful, stylish interior. Attentive, friendly and very professional service. We felt welcome and cared for from the beginning all the way through. Wait staff was very knowledgeable about the food and the wine and wasnt bothered at all by us asking lots of questions. Food was delicious, refined, very tasty. They have a few standards, like Carbonara: But even these are made a bit different, presumably a bit more authentic. Most of the dishes from Descos menu you wont find in a traditional Italian place around here. Even better, several of the items are home made like the smoked duck breast or the lamb prosciutto. And they do taste that way. And they serve warm fresh bread with them. Very good selection of Italian wines by the glass. I like that they also serve by the "caraffa" 1/3 and 2/3 of a bottle. And an even more extensive and interesting selection of Italian wines by the bottle. We were there for lunch. Very reasonably priced. Paste are around $10 for a good portion size. Considering the quality of food, pretty good value. We will be back for dinner and lunch many, many times. So many interesting things on the menu.

When I first contemplated moving to the East Bay, I had one of the most incredible meals here or so I thought -- it might have been the wine talking... Anyway, this past Monday evening, a friend of mine took me to dinner here and everything was a flavorless mess. We ordered the grilled calamari and the buffalo mozzarella in addition to the scallop ravioli -- nothing tasted good. The ravioli was absolutely tasteless and rubbery. Lets not even talk about the fact that the server kept asking us to hand her plates instead of getting them herself -- its not like there was no room for her to maneuver. Also, when we asked the manager for the check, he said hed go get it but the next thing we know hes hamming it up with the servers at the bar instead of getting us the check so we asked our server who did pretty much the same thing. It was such a disappointment. We actually ended up going to grab sausages from Rosamunde across the street afterward.

I visited Desco with a buddy of mine who was visiting from out of town and it was the perfect venue for a sophisticated meal without pretense. We shared the spaghetti carbonara (which was not too heavy on the cream sauce but full of bacon pieces) and the bresaola pizza (the base was thin but fluffy and it was covered in fresh crisp arugula and hearty chunks of shaved grana padano) accompanied with a side of the roasted potatoes (perfectly seasoned and I was delighted to see it was a mix of traditional and purple potatoes!). We rounded the meal off with the tiramisu which we ordered on the waitresss recommendation - delicious! Definitely worth leaving some room for it! The cocktail list was simple but offered a good selection of the classics (daiquiri, old fashioned, moscow mule, sidecar, etc). The service was impeccable - food was served fast and the staff were friendly and courteous.

I dont get to rave about Italian food often in the Bay Area. This place stands out and Im grateful to work near it. I will use any chance to go here, for happy hour, dinner, or lunch when I have the time. I gasped when I first had the seafood trofie- it is that good- plus I can rarely even FIND Ligurian stuff. (Oh yeah, the focus here is Northern which is hard to find.) I am continually bringing more friends and coworkers here and havent heard a single complaint. I think even the pickiest eater would love their pizzas. Highly recommend coming for happy hour and staying later.

Nothing gets better than this little slice of Italy! With a beautiful location, impeccable staff and food to die for I could eat here every day for the rest of my life and never get bored! I usually go with the classic margarita pizza, the ingredients are so fresh and I will eat the entire thing... Its hard to share your food because it is so good that you want all of it! I love bringing new people here and impressing them with the amazing food and gorgeous facility! Its a great place to take the important people in your life! NOTHING beats Desco... I am now craving Desco!

I cant say good enough things about this place! I go to Desco once a month, because the food is authentic and amazing, the chef is full Italian and loves to come out and greet his customers. The drinks are on point, and reasonably priced. In addition the ambiance is terrific, it has a great style with the open space featuring exposed brink and floor to [20 ft] ceiling windows. Plus at lunch sometimes you get to catch Curry coming in for a snack, they are a block from practice facilities.

Mediocre lunch, stick with the pizza, the sandwich bread was hard, picture meat in between 2 bricks... the explanation was that the bread is made different everyday... nonetheless the 4 sandwiches/bricks where boxed up and we left hungry lol. The manager didnt seem to care, she was as firm as the bread that was dishes out. I want choose to eat lunch here again. Happy Hour is also mediocre. Not good, not bad

Every visit we have made has been met with awesome service and fresh, delicious dishes. The menu reflects the seasonal ingredients and it definitely shows. Dinner on weekends may be busy, so it doesnt hurt to set a reservation. For 2 people we usually get the pre fixe along with an additional appetizer and entree. Their Moscow Mules are very refreshing and delicious.

Pour un italien pas énormement de choix sur la carte, les repas restent bon mais très chère pour ce que cest. Endroit sympas mais pour un italien, la tradition nest pas là.

Worst service Ive had in a restaurant in a long time. Hostess seated us promptly but after that it was all downhill. Waitress took our drink order and never came back for at least 15 minutes. Cant tell you about the food because I didnt order anything. Was so pissed we just finished our drinks and left. Horrible customer service.

Went on a quiet Monday evening. The staff was accommodating, assertive and knowledgeable. Everything was served accurately and in the right order which is challenging to find in the US. Fantastic examples of typical traditional dishes and an excellent liqueur/amaro list, not to mention their hard to find wines on offer.

Solid casual-upscale dining in Old Oakland. The service was friendly, from the hostess to the bartender. We sat at the bar at had a few samplers (including the cheese plate). Along with the cocktails, the server (also the bartender) was super helpful with selecting some of their best items. Excellent overall experience.

For me, Zacharys Chicago style pizza is better than the famous stuffed Ginos of the Windy City itself. Its better than the pizza I had in Rome (which was flat of course). Nothing beats it. Yeah maybe Im biased. Ive been going since I was a child and their pizza ignites memories that warm my soul. Its comfort food for...

Chez Maman was definitely a solid 4-1/2 stars - hip décor, welcoming waiters/waitresses, and tasty food. It is located on the corner in a quiet neighborhood of Portrero Hill. They do not have much seating inside and do not take reservations, but still worth eating waiting to eat here. The food was on-point!
