A "zero" thats what Tropea deserves from our experience(no option to give less than one star). Our family has been anxiously awaiting the new location opening for this restaurant. In its old location we could never remember it as a dining out option, but with its new location we knew we would be eating there as soon as it opens. But after our experience today(3-19-2016 Saturday @ 5:50pm we will not patronize this restaurant an will not recommend it to others. We called beforehand to make sure we did not need a reservation, found out not needed so we walked down to the restaurant. Upon arriving. There was a lady in front of us who was waiting for her husband and the hostess was already attending to her so we waited patiently. When she left we were next in line. But another young lady came in door and hostess attending to her while we were clearly standing right in front of him. There was no way for him not to "not see us". I only have to take this as a race issue. I am tired of this in Redmond. I am white yet my husband is not an my son is mixed. I was disappointed so bad and my son was devastated. He has autism and loooooves Italian and we had plan this night put because of his birthday. But because this hostess was either being racist or had never had a hostess job before, I mean it has to be race because there is only a arms length of space right in the door when you come in, you just cant "not see a family of three. "Prices subject to change based on attitude".....great sign to have in front of business.......very classy.......should be ....we only serve white people. Minorities of any other race I highly suggest others think twice before eating at this restaurant. They obvious think they can pick and choose who eats there. Ill stick to eating in Bellevue even though I live in Redmond. Oh and thanks for ruining my sons birthday dinner its not often we get out for a nice meal because of the complexity of my sons Autism. He doesnt take change well and could not understand why we were not eating his favorite food, Italian. You may think oh we just lost one customer, but with my and my husbands connections with the disability and minority community, you may have lost way more than that.

Service was the worst I have ever had by a waiter. Absolutely ruined my date. I worked as a Restaurant Manager/ Sous Chef for 10 years and never even seen a waiter treat customers so rudely. Saul is the worst waiter there (who never said his name... I guess cause its not Italian). Hope you dont get him. He threw the wine menu with disgust when I ordered my second wine by the glass of Sangiovese because it wasnt a bottle I imagine. Took 30 min to get entrees and the waiter disappeared. Heard loud chattering in mexican from the kictchen... guess he was bored with working. Then saw him berate another customer for thinking the kitchen was the bathroom (who was also on a date). He was trying to force appetizers and deserts on us so I said calmly “No thanks dude.” When bringing the check out the waiter said in extremely confrontational tone, "Dont ever call me dude again. Im a person and waiter!" I had to make him repeat it 4 times because... seriously? It felt like the waiter wanted to fight me. Ruined the rest of my night and now Im wasting time writing this review. Food: Mediocre: Veal- Swimming in sauce and couldnt taste the veal. Looked like pea soup with noodles on top Lazangna- 1/2 cheese melted on 2ish layers of ok meats.

Not a Gluten Free Friendly restaurant! On their menu they offer a gluten free pasta, however when asked the waiter said they cook the gluten free pasta in the same water they cook regular pasta. I explained that by doing so the contaminate the GF pasta which basically put the dinners at an unknown risk. You trust the restaurant the offer GF option to give you GF food and not just say it without making the effort to keep you healthy and well. He went on to say that since the place was not busy at the time that I was there they will cook separately but when they are busy they wont. Which means that id I hadnt asked, they would serve me pasta full of gluten which as a person with Celiac I cant afford. Needless to say the charge extra 3.95$ for a GF pasta but have no problem making you sick being too lazy and careless. AS for the pasta it self, once it was serve (hopefully cooked separately as promised) it taste horrible. the worst pasta carbonara Ive ever had. So I paid 18$ for the worst pasta I ever had. If you cant eat gluten, DO NOT go there.

From the moment we entered the restaurant and were greeted by the owner, our 37th wedding anniversary was perfect at Tropea Ristorante. Our server respected our wish not to rush. With about twenty tables and its popularity, it might be assumed that you must eat and run. Not so. We celebrated for over 2 1/2 hours. We celebrated at our pace. The food was 6 stars. Bread, muscles, clams preceded a fantastic salad which my wife and I split. There is no shortage in the amount of delicious food. Our entrees were halibut with fresh vegetables and a lobster, shrimp mix. Amazing! The servers wine selection was perfect for our entrée selections. Then, after deciding we could eat no more, came a surprise dessert from the owner. Now I know you frequently get a birthday dessert from a restaurant but in this case our dessert was the best on the menu. We splurged but the menu is very affordable for any lunch or dinner out. Thank you Tropea Ristorante Italiano. Our anniversary evening was fantastic!

Delightful in every way. Dont be fooled by the generic strip mall that this little treasure is secreted in. If you pause youll notice potted plants & tables outside, an investment in ambience which is fully realized inside. I was there early & didnt know what to expect although the menu gave a broad hint but when people started arriving at 4:25 it was clear this place had what it takes. The herbed oil for the crusty bread actually tasted of garlic & herbs & not strong olive oil. The salad was beyond expectations - capers & little balls of fresh mozzarella, various lettuces, finely chopped tomatoes and a tasty house dressing. My pasta meal was a marvelous blend of tender, crunchy & chewy. Artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, that flavorful Italian ham with a cream sauce. I ordered the red wine the employees drink & it was perfect. And the prices are very reasonable . I live in Port Townsend, 3 hours away, but can see making a special trip to eat here again.

Well, I looked online and found this place with great review. Showed up with my family, seated, and looked over the menu. The waiter came over, and we ordered. The waiter was seemingly irritated when we did not order any wines or appetizers. We waited for nearly an hour before our pasta showed up. The spaghetti with meat ball was very sour and the meal balls were extremely dry. When we inquired about the meat ball with the waiter, we were told that our tastes were wrong. In any case, it was such a bad experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is interesting looking at other reviews here. I dont know what caused the difference in experience. Maybe because we did not order any drinks. Maybe we didnt order any other food items. Maybe we are Asian. I just dont know. However, whatever the case it may be, we all desire a good service.
