Good place to grab lunch or dinner. I like coming here for work lunches so I dont have to pay or fight for parking in downtown San Mateo. This plaza has a big parking lot with pretty easy parking. If youre coming for lunch, try to get here close to opening time, otherwise youll find yourself waiting for a table. Service is pretty quick and attentive. Goon Man Doo (6pcs) - Pan fried dumplings Shared these with a friend as an appetizer. yum! Ojing Uh Dduk Bok Um- Sauteed spicy squid with rice cake. (spicy) ($15.99) This is one of my favorite Korean dish but it was definitely a miss here, especially with that $16 price tag. Some of the rice cakes were not cooked all the way through and still a little tough. Hae Mool Dol Sot Bi Bimbop Seafood, vegetables, fried egg over rice served in hot stone pot (spicy) $15.99. They are very generous with the seafood and give you a huge portion. I love bibimbop so Ill order the seafood one or the beef. I havent ordered the tofu soup for myself but stole some of the pork dumpling soon doo boo from my friend.

Authentic Korean fare at affordable prices. Waited for approx 15mins before we were seated. Remember to pen your name on the board to the right of the entrance! We ordered a Kimchi Pork soup, bulgogi and side dishes (jap chae, kimchi and fish cake). The Kim chi soup and bulgogi was very yummy and a decent portion for the price. They charge for the side dishes which is kinda disappointing given that most Korean shop offer them as standard complimentary side dishes with main meals ordered. Perhaps because we had to pay for the side dishes, the portions were fairly large. They offered complimentary tea and they tasted really good. They are located within a shopping plaza so theres plenty of parking available. Overall, a good authentic Korean diner to satisfy your Korean food cravings. Will be back.

On a cold day, this is the place to order spicy Tofu Pork Stew or Bibimbap in the hot stone bowl in the San Mateo - Foster City area. The ladies here are friendly and will try to accommodate as much as possible. The ladies here will crack the egg for you if you order the stone bowl version. They will also continually fill up the banchans (aka side dishes) if you ask. If you get there early for dinner, be sure to order the "purple" color rice instead of the white. They do run out towards the end of the night. Its very busy during the weekends for dinner. The wait can be long because this place is really popular with families and they do not take reservations.

Used to live nearby, so it was easy to walk across the street whenever we were in the mood. The women staff were always friendly and welcoming. Myung Dong Tofu Cabin has been at this location for 50+ years for good reason. Food were always hot, delicious, and prompt and served with a smile. Unlimited banchan used to be served with meals, but its now charged as per item with no free refills. Guess too many customers were abusing this privilege and being wasteful (?).

Friendly and efficient service, and most of all, great food! We visited at dinner hours, while waiting to be seated we were asked to place our orders, and by the time a table opened up (~20 mins), appetizers were waiting for us and entree quickly followed. As with all authentic Korean restaurants, the waiter also kept our side dishes full throughout the meal. Food is absolutely delicious, although their "mild" is still a ted too spicy for me.

Im always looking for a good Korean place near where I live/work. This happens to be a couple of miles from work... perfect for a Friday lunch. The restaurant is not big but there are a lot of tables. Even so, it gets filled up for lunch, so arrive early. Service is fast and attentive. I got the tofu soup, of course, and thought it was pretty decent. Could have more flavor but I cant complain too much. Banchan was good too.

Myung Dong Tofu Cabin is one of the few Korean restaurants where you have to pay for each side dish you pick, however I feel that its a good thing because you can then just grab a main dish and a few side dishes with your friends instead of having two mains. I recommend the Jap chae ( Korean glass noodles ), seafood pancake and the soft ribs. The portions are not large but they are all delicious !

Never disappointed. My favorite go-to Korean restaurant in San Mateo / Foster City. I know you need to pay for the sides, but lets be honest, if it was free, everyone would just go buck wild. Pay for what you eat. 50 cents is a small price to pay for what you get. So far, got a free coffee mug & a bottle of wine. They know how to treat their regular customers. Same time, next month. Yum.

Okay I eat here a lot. Im not Korean I would consider myself Korean by food because its my favorite food and I look for it. The food here is quite good short ribs probably the best in the area. The bibimbap quite excellent. But I can only give them for stars based on the fact they dont give out the little plates anymore I mean thats part of the whole Korean experience so now I just take out

Term Korean food is. It includes side DISH and rice (free) with main dish. BUT THIS RESTAURANT SET NEW STANDARD BY CHARGING EVERYTHING. Do not eat at this restaurant. They give bad name to Honest all the other Korean Restaurant owner. And food... worst ever. It tastes like they use artifical flavor. Stay away. I dine there on 11/04/2015

We really like the tofu stew with pork dumplings. It is tastier than most other places. Tofu Cabin has gone to serving banchan, the small dish appetizers, a la carte, which seems to be quite controversial. Im not Korean so this isnt so much of a cultural affront to me. I actually prefer the new system because it reduces waste.

What kind of Korean restaurant does not give out free side dishes and rice? Even thought they claim that the price is reduced for the main dishes, but its really takes away the fun of having Korean food when they charge you for every little side dish! I stop going there, after being a loyal customer for years.

Positive: clean, relatively fast, main food price reasonable Negative: charges you for the side dish (this is not London), kimchi does not taste like anything, if you enjoy authentic Korean food, this is not the place to visit.

Our favorite Korean BBQ place in the Bay Area! Their Galbi uses high end meat and is much better than other places. They started to charge for their side dishes, but I dont mind since I rather get only what I eat.

Always reliable - perfect for those cooler days when you need something to warm you up. Tasty Korean tofu soup, the Korean BBQ is pretty good too. Most importantly, the service is always very warm and friendly.

Great food at this quiet strip mall restaurant. Friendly hostess and wait staff. Especially like that they dont default to serving rice and sides without asking first in order to cut down on food waste.
