When I found this place searching for nearby restaurants to my hotel it looked like this could be a great diamond in the rough place to check out. However, Island Grill ended up being neither diamond or rough and fell in between the two. It starts with the atmosphere when you first walk in. Its dark and unwelcoming and felt a little uncomfortable when I arrived. The staff was very nice but after noticing the decor of the dining room with plastic table covers, etc. we asked to eat in the adjoining Bamboo Room which offered the full restaurant menu. This area was equally as dark but at least it had some nice TVs to watch the local NBA game. After sitting, we got menus and ordered a couple beers. Their beer selection isnt bad and includes some local favorites like Fat Tire. As for food, I ordered the Chicken Sandwich (cant remember the exact name) and my co-worker ordered the steak sandwich. Both were actually not bad but the bread was twice the size of the chicken and steak so we were left eating a lot of unnecessary bread. Additionally, the french fries were soggy and tasted like they just baked some frozen french fries Id buy at the store. Not only that, but the sandwiches were $17 a piece. Ive had much better food for a lot less cost. And the entire menu was like that with the average entree coming in around $35. Again, the bright points were the friendly and helpful staff but the atmosphere was just depressing and for what you are paying to eat there you should be getting a much better ambiance, decor, and food quality. Bottom line...if you see this place...just keep driving. They over charge and under produce.

I have traveled extensively for several years, this by far was the worst experience I have had. My Order: They got it wrong! Service: Scary, Foul Mouthed, and very slow! Food: The only item that was right, and actually good, was the salad. The Rib-Eye steak: If I were to use Walmart Choice and Costco Prime Rib-Eye as an example of what a fair to decent Rib-Eye should be like. The steak was below Walmart Choice grade. It looked like I was served a Flank Steak! The steak I was served was an insult to Steak lovers! To make things worse it was not cooked correctly for a medium rare! The Dishwasher needs to go back to cooking school! Who serves a half inch Rib-Eye! Then charges people almost 30$ for it... Trust me, go to the store, buy your own steak then come here and get ripped off!

This place is a bit of a sleeper. Attached to a hotel I didnt know it existed and Id driven down this street many times. We came in and there was only one other table on a late Friday lunch. Got the calamari rings and tri tip sandwich. both were super solid. Co worker was really happy with the burger. Service was good but then we were the only ticket left but still Ive been ignored in empty places before. Definitely a diamond in the rough

I had my lunch today in here, I had island grill sandwhich no bacon since I cant have bacon, the taste was a little blend, though I enjoyed the environment. well decorated and furniture was very comfortable, very good service and friendly staff. I recommend this place if you like grilled food. The prices are very good.

Ordered the peppercorn NY strip medium-rare for dinner. Steak was medium/medium well (slight pink). Mashed potatoes seemed really runny, soupy but flavor was good. Veggies were excelent. I feel the price did not reflect the quality of food and will not return during my stay at the hotel.

If you are staying at the Holiday Inn and need a decent glass of wine and food, this place will suffice.

Food is just ok but absurdly expensive ($23 for a bowl of pasta), service not bad.
