So we were in Chinatown looking for dim sum, but we failed to consider that all the good, cheap, dim sum places were bakeries and would be closing by dinnertime. By the time we arrived at the place we intended to get food from (which was closed), we were hungry and tired, so decided to just eat at the first half-decent-looking place we saw that had dim sum, which turned out to be here. Well, yelp was right on the money: 3 stars indeed. It looked good from the start, in that we were the only non-Asian-looking people sitting down for dinner, which is generally a good sign, as is a waiter asking us what we wanted almost immediately. Less of a good sign was the fact that when we had decided, they explained (in broken English, of course, but thats expected) that they were out of like a third of the dim sum on the menu, even though it was specifically a dinner menu and it was only like 6:30 - though, he later came back and told us that actually the item wed tried to order that he said was out, actually *wasnt* out and did we want to order it? Good thing we did, too, as that item (the beef rice noodle roll) was the highlight of the dinner: it was extremely good. The scallops with spicy garlic sauce was also extremely good (Id say even given its price - scallops are expensive, and they do give you a decent number of them); the mongolian beef, Ive had better, but it wasnt bad. The pork spare ribs, on the other hand, were disgusting: they were almost entirely bone and gristle (maybe this is how authentic Chinese food lovers like it? I cant imagine.) We took one bite, and threw the rest away (actually, we tried to leave it on the table, but they wouldnt let us. Hilariously, they really thought we wanted it to go, and when we left the togo box on the table, they chased us out with it, so we just had to leave it on a trash can outside.) And the third dim sum item we ordered never showed up: apparently they ran out of that one, and didnt think to tell us until we asked about it as we were ready to leave. They asked if we wanted something else instead, but at that point we were perfectly happy to leave. At least they didnt still charge us for the item, as Ive seen happen sometimes. So basically, exactly what you would expect from a place that has 3 stars on yelp: some food good, some food not so good, some aspects of service good, some aspects of service not so good. I wouldnt be angered if a friend wanted to go here again, but I might encourage the thought of going somewhere else instead. edit: I will mention, their hot sauce on the table was super tasty too. No idea if they make it themselves, or just get it from a package, but if the latter, whoever they get it from makes good hot sauce.

My friend and I had a rather difficult time finding a nice looking restaurant or even seating for that matter so we found this place which was also packed in the weekend around 1p. After a 20 minute wait, we ordered the Peninsula Pan Fried Noodle and Mongolian Beef lunch special w/hot & sour soup. To me, the Pan Fried Noodles is almost perfect though saltier than I would have liked and the Mongolian Beef was perfectly spiced and beef certainly did not feel tenderized for a stir fry like it usually is in other Cantonese Restaurants. Although the Dim Sum ladies coming to you and sometimes asking you if you want their offerings can be annoying I was surprised they didnt have push carts which I actually miss seeing. They also brought someone elses order to my table by mistake twice. We also didnt order tea but they brought it over and charged us the $1 per person. Interestingly it is advertised as $0.50 but the boss explained that certain teas are $1. I guess she can say whatever she wants when adding up the bill-way to rip you off. Though they dont rush you and we were there for about 2 hours, the boss lady has to make it a point to charge extra and try to justify why she did so in a demeaning way. They do offer free WiFi. So thats my 2 stars for them.

waiter seemed mad to be there but we were only the third table in the place....took 20 minutes for spring rolls & walnut shrimp. spring rolls were best thing we ate, but they were cooked, traditionally theyre raw veggies & wrap. & the inside we THINK was mushroom but were too afraid to ask... the shrimp were tender & fresh but had no flavor, seasoning or breading & the sauce was...MAYONNAISE!!! nothing else added..... my boyfriend was not as lucky... he got the #121 pork & oyster clay pot and O MY GOSH it was gelatinous! slimy & the pork was just thick skin! even HE couldnt eat it! to top it off, we paid the wrong Bill, by more than 20 bucks & had to void our credit card & recharge is!

Nice restuarant, morning is packed with mostly locals for breakfast. If you have a party less than 5, you have little wait time, any more its a little while before being seated. You have staff walking around offering various items for breakfast, and can request for some items if they are for breakfast. Lunch hours make the restuarant wait time vary, could have some to little people. Order via menu given on table. Dinner times starts off slow and picks up later in the night, also order via menu. The food overall is nicely prepared, yet can have some problems, not too pricy and a nice selection of items. Its really a cheap version of The Great Eastern Restuarant right next door.

Ive been eating dim sum here since I was a kid! Its a staple in the local San Francisco Chinatown community. The restaurant is filled to the brim with locals every morning and its super hectic on the weekends. You know the food is good when its filled with locals and the employees only speak Cantonese. I love their selection of dim sum, they have all my favorites like shrimp dumpling, pork and shrimp dumpling, beef rice noodle, sesame balls, spare ribs, sticky rice, and egg custard. Their service is standard of a Chinese restaurant but we all know the majority of Chinese restaurants with good service usually lack in quality :P Give this place a try if youre in Chinatown!

I would give no stars, but thats not an option. I visited San Francisco, and decided to go eat at Chinatown. Worst place to go eat Chinese food. I had ordered a shrimp dish and the description said nothing about containing pork. I received my dish and asked just in case, and the waiter said there was pork. I told him I dont eat pork, and he took my dish and brought it back. He said he would replace my dish, not take the pork out. Their service was horrible. They thought it was funny when I told them I dont eat pork. There was no taste to the dish. The place was a mess. This place is good for people who want traditional Chinese. Not a place for tourists.

I pick 1 star because there is no option to select zero. The plates are awful, their customer service is the worse, they didnt brought the dished we ordered and they tried to charge us from that. On top that, the invoice was writen all in chinese and the tip was preselected without the option to change it and I believe they are doing a fraud to the state without reporting the tax in their invoice.... Stay away from those cheaters and scamers!!!
