Where to begin with this place: I had a reservation for 2 for 9 PM. Walked in and saw there was a table available (two small tables pushed together) but was told by a waitress that she wasnt exactly sure when she could seat us, and that we couldnt be seated and that the table was for a party of 4. She also explained that there were parties whod been sitting and talking for 20+ mins. after eating and paying, to which I suggested she kindly tell them that a party with a reservation is waiting to be seated (she refused). Then I reiterated that we had a 9 PM reservation because we were in a hurry and had an event at 10 PM, to which she said, "Then maybe you shouldve made a reservation for 8:30 PM." (So, needless to say, she was terribly rude). I wanted to leave and find another place to eat, but doing so after 9 PM in San Francisco when you have a show coming up is practically impossible. My friend and I finally got seated after 9 PM (they took my suggestion of separating the two free small tables, but not before denying us that table). We ordered the grilled rib eye, medium rare. Worst steak Ive ever had. Ive never had a steak with so much fat on it, and the pommes frites were soaked in oil. I shouldve stuck to my gut - any steak in this city below $20 is probably a bad steak. Given how bad the food was, and how rude the waitress was, I left no tip (my friend left a decent tip - he arrived right after the argument with the waitress). We were on our way to our show when the waitress used my number from my reservation to call and complain that I left no tip and tried to explain that they did their best to accommodate my friend and me. When I attempted to speak on the phone, she interrupted me and talked over me during the entire call. The fact that she even called my number crossed the line, because its obvious that she wouldnt have called me if I had left a tip. Never going there again, needless to say.

Ok. Lets get the negative out of the way. Service. Ridiculously slow. Have some patience. Let the food do the talking. Try not to get upset that service is unfriendly and snail-like. Sounds terrible cause service really initiates the standards at a restaurant but I feel like this place should be given another shot. The prix fixe menu is fantastic. For $14.50, its just ridiculous. You start off with either soup or salad. Pick an entree. I ordered the trout that evening which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. For dessert, they offered a meringue which was alright. I think the star of the show was the entree. Fresh, tasty, delicious. They also offer no corkage fees on Wednesdays but you cant order the prix fixe menu. Its a small spot so you can smell everything thats going on in the kitchen. Get past the service and youll love this place. 4 stars.

Sorry (but the chef is still terrific)... We had an unfortunate evening though. The staff was inept. Trying to fix a wobbling table for the people near by and couldnt, the people got so frustrated they left. Then the host put a stack of napkins under it and it still wobbled badly...he just left it like that for the next people. The waitress was clueless about the menu. Food was good except the bouillabaisse was so "nouvelle" it should have been an appetizer. I dont know what they were thinking; two people had it and both left hungry, be forewarned. (We had to ask for bread.) They did comp us the price of one, and for the salad that had a hair in it, but it doesnt really make up for an evening we hoped to enjoy with friends. They need to keep the chef and find new staff! We probably wont be going back...too bad, it used to be nice.

Knifes and glass dirty. Bad service. Unpolite owner. Fish soup with kanikama, really??? White fish dry and 1 shrimp. Beef bourguinon, cold. Beef...full of fat and cold. The plates come at different times. They pour that green oily sauce in my friends coat...she ask for club soda to clean it up and the answer was that they cannot open a Perrier bottle for that. The owner is a freak and he never come to apologize. Its funny how the owner response..."it doesnt sound like our standards...blah blah blah...give us another chance..." but he never face the problem when you are there. I will give you another chance...give me a gift certificate for $200 and a bottle of champagne and you will have me there!!" MAKE YOURSELF A FAVOR, SAVE TIME AND MONEY AND DO NOT GO!!!

Heard great things about this place and from the reviews it also looked excellent. Was disappointed with the main courses. The blackened shrimp was not bad in taste but for a restaurant known for its seafood, the shrimp wasnt fresh. My friend got the crab cakes and didnt finish it because it was too dry and just not worth finishing. Other people at our table got a variety of the fish the restaurant had that day and the taste was good but fish quality questionable. My favorite thing there is the free sour dough bread with a basil olive oil dip and crispy calamari. You cant go wrong with fried calimari with lemon.

This was our favorite restaurant during our week in SF. Fantastically prepared fresh fish and shrimp risotto. The duck and lamb earned top ratings from those in our family that werent in the mood for seafood. A small, quiet place off the beaten touristy path, but just around the corner from the famous Painted Lady houses. The waitress took great care of us and brought complimentary warm chocolate cake for desert. She even overheard us say that my son couldnt eat the cake due to allergies and quickly brought him some ice cream. Next time we come back to SF we will go out of our way to eat here again.

We ate the Sauteed Scallops with mushroom risotto tonight. BEST MEAL for me in San Francisco! My husband and I did the typical touristy thing tonight by seeing the Full House house (I am an 80s girl, what can I say) and then of course we saw the Painted Ladies. We just used google maps to find a place nearby and I told my hubby to pick. He picked this place and we are glad he did!! I wasnt sure I wanted to stay because it didnt appear to be kid friendly, but it was fine; the chef made her some buttered noodles and thats all a 3 year old needs! Dont hesitate to go in if you are in the area!

If we are ever in SF again, you can bet well return to the Alamo Square Seafood Grill. We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary so I wanted something special. The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent. The Alamo Square Seafood Grill did not disappoint! When we arrived about 7pm we were almost alone, but by 8:30 the place was full. We left enough room for dessert - the chocolate bread pudding was really good!!

After a long dreary rainy day walking mostly uphill to find the Painted Ladies (huge disappointment) we were hungry. Not in any mood to walk much further, we found this place less than 2 blocks away. What a wonderful experience, food was excellent. My wife had the salmon platter and I the spinach pear salad. Phenomenal. The shrimp risotto was fantastic and the steak ( yeah, I know) I had was super. Wine and beer served. Well priced.
