As a whole, this restaurant was pretty solid. Nothing I had here was bad We ordered chole bhatura, onion rava masala dosa, gulab jamun, and a mango lassi. This things I liked about this place: nothing was loaded up with sugar to taste good. Many of the more fast foodish type places in Mira Mesa have their chana masala loaded up with sugar. This wasnt. It wasnt as heavily spiced as Im use to, but it wasnt bland at all. The thickness and texture was right. The bhatura was also very good. It wasnt too dense, but not so thin that it hardens when cold. I hate mango, so I found the mango lassi disgusting. That probably means others will enjoy it. It was one of the more mango-y mango lassis Ive had. The rava dosa was weakest part of the meal, which isnt to say it was bad. The best rava dosa Ive had was kind of like eating a bread net. The dosa here was very thin and flakey. The coconut chutney had a very subtle coconut taste with a little bit of kick to it. The sambar was probably the best sambar Ive ever had. It wasnt thinned out like most restaurants. It was the consistency of a thick soup, but not quite a stew. The masala had a nice texture. Both the sambar and masala were a bit on the peppery side. Lastly, the gulab jamun. It was as good as youd expect. Its pretty hard to mess this one up. Overall, you should give it a try. Its the best south indian restaurant Ive found in San Diego thus far. Ill be returning here.

Been here twice. First of all what is nice is the rare experience of actual friendly waiters who know the food and can explain the different curries. Second is that this is pretty close to home cooking. The fish curries and biryani were very well spiced with all the correct spice no skimping on cinnamon, clove, cardomon. The chutney was also very good. Many of the Tamil Nadu places make the chutney very plain, Brahmin style. Which is fine, but i like the one with pottu kadalai added in, like they used to make in Chettinadu. Have not yet had the iddli or dosai, or am on my way now! The only dish i did not like was the vegetable korma, which, while it actually had great veggies in it like brocoli, which rarely do Indian places spend the money on, did not have much in the way of aromatic spices. It may be that is the Kerala style, but in Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu veggie korma is going to have cinnamon, cardomon, clove, ginger, garlic, coriander--really aromatic. That is the only dish yet that was not 5 stars. Thank you F of M for a great restaurant!

I came here not expecting much from it, we had a groupon and were just ready to try the food. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the madras chicken curry. The madras chicken curry was a lean curry with a mild spice and very flavorful. Now the tikka masala was like no other. Ive had tikka masala before but theirs was so good, I almost got off my seat and was gonna head straight to the kitchen and complement the chef myself and ask for the recipe. I dont usually write reviews like this and this is my first time doing so, I really recommend this place. Also the customer service was great, the waiter suggested very good options and made us feel comfortable.

Please never eat at Flavors of Mayura. These folks have no clue of cooking. We ordered Bisibele Bhath, and my family and friends family all consumed 10 one Litre bottles of water. The food was so HOT, that I dont understand how someone can cook food so horrible and still be in business. California department of food, please close this place immediately. We ordered egg fried rice, and it had tons of black pepper in it, which set my behind on fire. I am capable of handling good level of spice, but this food was beyond comprehension. This place needs to be closed immediately.

Firstly if you are hungry this place does not know the word "fast". Be there at least 45 mins before you start getting hungry! I waited for around the same time even for the appetizer. Secondly they should drop the word " flavours". The food I ordered was missing salt, chillies (literally it was a plain bald food). Samosa was one of worst I had. Bread was hard and palak paneer was bald and literally tasteless. Id advise to avoid this place in all possibilities. Only bright light of hope was the mango lassi. It was the only thing I could feel taste for..

Finally an authentic Kerala style food. The taste of pepper corn and all that rich spicy Flavors of Gods own country yes guys that is what Kerala is known in India as. My children are all born in USA and every time we visit Kerala they love authentic Flavors of Kerala. When we visited F of mayura we were skeptical and thinking that it is yet another Americanized Indian restaurant. My children with that taste of Kerala food endorse the food. More important the young blood behind this restaurant make it a pleasure visiting

This place is interesting because its good, non vegetarian food particular to Kerala, India. The food itself is above average, not to be compared to ammachis home cooking, but it will take you home in a craving. Ive been here twice and its positive experiences overall. The portions are quite small and the food is quite expensive. Beef fry is something like $14 for 2/3rd full container. They are a niche market since there really zero other good South Indian places in SD. Id go back again, on a payday.

Im not sure how people had rated this place so high ( or maybe it was not my day?? ). The food quality was horrible. I do not see any authenticity of south indian cuisine here. The onion rava dosa (not even close) was cold that i felt it came right out of the refrigerator. The poori was too oily. Everything tasted like left over old stuff. When the food is pricey, i would at least expect a decent quality , but i was completely disappointed. I would never dine here again for sure...

Friendly staff and Great place to enjoy spicy non vegetarian Kerala cuisine. There is a limited north indian and non-kerala south indian items on the menu. The down side, there are just three items on the dessert menu, we tried the ras malai .. and it was not sweet at all. We tried the Dum biryani, beef fry, porotta (malabar paratha) and chicken fry. The Porotta and Poricha Kozhi (Kerala style chicken fry) are a must try!

Ordered food. Chefs special chicken fry and Bezawada chicken biryani. The chicken fry is burnt and its frozen chicken deep fried. Pathetic and cannot be eaten by humans. The biryani didnt have basmati rise and sticky. The chicken in the biryani was frozen as well. Cant imagine why restaurants such as these become responsible to serve food which human beings cannot eat!! Sandeep T
