Ive truthfully never been so disrespected and infuriated by a staff in my entire life - and at a family run establishment no less... Food was decent, albeit pricey, however I was left with a wretched taste in my mouth that still has me reeling a day after this horrible experience. The three of us sat down to a quarter-full restaurant at 8:30pm on a Saturday. Service was slow but we didnt mind as we were enjoying conversation and our drinks. Around 9:20, we were three quarters of the way through our dinner when we started being asked every 3-4 minutes if we were done, wanted a box, etc. We thought this was odd as the restaurant is open until 10pm on Saturdays and we were clearly still in the middle of our meal. Eventually at 9:35 the waiter dropped off the check without being asked and we knew we were being rushed out the door. At 9:50pm the waiter came up to the table and told us we needed to leave as the restaurant was closed. I still had a full beer in front of me and my friends had half a bottle of wine left. I was absolutely outraged as we had just spent $200 on a meal for three and tipped the waiter generously, and now were being prompted to chug our drinks and vacate 10 minutes before the official closing time. I asked the waiter to remove the tip off the bill as he had not just ruined the meal with this encounter, but also was pestering us nonstop for the previous 30 minutes. The restaurant manager responded by telling me he had already run the check and there was nothing he could do but would "remember my face and provide me a discount the next time I came in" (still before 10pm at this point.) After that outrageous answer, I told him I would never come back and asked him how he was planning on compensating me for a tip I did not want to pay. He responded by saying there was nothing he could do and to get out. I have never in my life witnessed such a display of deceitfulness, disrespect, and laziness. I implore you not to visit this restaurant and truly hope this family gets out of hospitality before issuing too many more of these experiences to people looking to pay good money for good food and a good time.

Horrible Horrible Horrible service. As a line started behind me with only a couple of girls in front of me the host continually ignored us everytime he came up to the front. He wouldnt even look at or address us. Finally after 20 mins the ladies in front of me got his attention he gave them some rude response about not asking customers to leave while they are eating when the girls asked about how long the wait would be and tried to walk away before he addressed me and the 30 people in line behind me. I grabbed him in time and let him know we were all waiting forever to get our name on the list, I was thinking in my head I could of been grabbing a drink next door while we waited! He seemed to get the picture that a line was waiting to check in and he came back to Earth and took the names. It was like we were ghosts and not even standing in front of him for the first 25 mins of this experience. I had a Groupon or I would of left already, money already spent kept me here. I was so mad by the time we were sat I wasnt interested in their food really. We tried Veggie Momos and they werent as good as I was hoping. Good Garlic Cilarntro Naan. Very spicy Vindaloo and I tried a Lentil Soup which was pretty good. I wont be back, this was horrible for service and the guy we were dealing with is a total idiot! They were busy but, thats no excuse to be rude and ignore a line of hungry customers trying to give you money. We spent the Groupon and said we would never return. Well go to their other location in Midway by us. So much better service and the food is good so thats sad for La Jolla.

Taste of the Himalayas offers extremely authentic Indian fare. Im a fan of true, homemade style Indian food, which is extremely difficult to find in the USA in a restaurant. This place has nailed it! Paneer Pakora as a starter, perfectly done, and the chutney was the best weve ever tasted. Two flavors Naan bread, onion and herbal both were freshly made and delicious. Wife loved her Chicken Tikka Masala, just the right level of spices. My Chicken Korma was the best Ive ever tasted, and Ive had it in several good restaurants in India. I asked for 10 on the spicy level and received it, and still all of the other flavors made it through. THAT is a sign of someone who knows what they are doing in the kitchen! We WILL return!

Worst experience ever...they treat Indians very badly and rude attitude. They do not accept if you order multiple times, they directly told us on face to stop ordering. I would like to share everything in detailed. We initially asked how many pieces of naan are served per order, he responded that it will be same anywhere in the world. And we asked for a curry that contains gravy, but they came up with a very dry one. They asked for spice levels, we ordered for spicy food but it was too sweet. They are not even ready to take the feedback, they just ignored us. We came all the way to visit such a beautiful beach, we were so hungry and excited to have food in that restaurant, it ended with lot of disappointment.

I cant say enough of this amazing restaurant. Ive already tried over a dozen of their menu with my cousins and friends who have also fell in love with the delicious food and atmosphere. The manager there has been the most accommodating, professional and genuine person. The chefs are great. The staff is attentive and nice. The artwork is intriguing and the area is gorgeous by the water. Now for the food, its unique in seasoning and rich in taste. This is the one of the best restaurants for me. Hope you all can experience all that I have.

One of the worst restaurants in San Diego. We came an hour before closing time and he rudely turned us away saying we are sold out, even though the tables were half full inside! He said we have been busy since morning so cant take you! I believe looking at other ratings they behave rudely with Indians and play a facade in front of other people!! Not at all recommended to experience Indian food at this place better go somewhere else to spend your bucks!!

We walked in to a mostly empty restaurant with nice ambiance and were seated immediately. The waitress refused our request to swap naan for rice... Not cool. One star off for that. The prices are pretty high and the waiter said each entree was supposed to feed two people. After waiting for fifteen minutes after we ordered, our food came out. The portions were indeed solid and the food was really flavorful. Definitely a two dollar sign restaurant though.

The restaurant and quality of the food is about the same as the one found in the Midway District of SD. This location is close to the beach so you get a nice breeze. Food is great, I suggest starting with the Tikka Masala and then moving on from there. Get the Mango Lassi its pretty good. There are no low-rise tables and pillows to eat like the one in Midway District. Service could improved by ordering a little faster.
