Ive been going to Tamba for a couple of years now - As a Las Vegas local this place has been a real revelation for me in the world of delicious and affordable food. The lunch buffet is absolutely wonderful, with my only warning being that they can let it run down a little toward the end of the lunch sitting - anytime prior to the final 30 mins of that time and everything is well stocked, fresh and delicious. I have to say (and here comes a rant) that I STRONGLY suspect that the bevvy of 1 star ratings here with almost identical tales of "extremely rude waiters" are part of some sort of ongoing smear campaign by rival restaurateurs - If you look at the reviews for other Vegas Indian places youll find a similar fleet of reviews saying how "mean" the owners are or how "rude" the staff are - Nothing could be further from the truth with regard to Tamba, or for that matter any Indian restaurant I have visited in Vegas. Even though we order only water the polite to the point of being humble waiters are hurrying to top me up even before my glass is half empty. As a regular customer Im greeted specifically, asked where I have been if I havent been to eat there recently - the whole atmosphere is genial, welcoming, non-threatening and respectful. Read these reviews with a critical eye - Please dont believe the 2-3 line, one star reviews that say the same thing over and over and over - Ask yourself, if someone "found hair in their food" or was treated extremely poorly, would they post a one or two sentence review as people seem to be doing here, or would they perhaps post a larger review, detailing their ordeal in every possible way?

I was staying at Cesars palace and this place came up as the closest vegetarian option (walkable). I was tired by the time I reached there, but pleasantly surprised by the decor. The restaurant is set behind a conglomeration of local sidewalk vendors, but dont let this fool you. The restaurant itself is quite lovely with comfortable booths offering privacy and nice looking tables for larger family meals. The host sat me immediately at one of the booths, despite the fact that I was alone. I was greeted politely without any over reference to the rude "just one" you get at some places. The drink and dinner menu offers an excellent selection of cocktails, wines, beers, sodas as well as classic Indian drinks (Lhassi, etc). I ordered the Spiced Tomato Shorba, and the Dal Sagwan as well as an appetizer I dont remember and some garlic naan. The waiter was polite, responsive and calibrated the spiciness of the food perfectly. There was no rush, though the place was fairly crowded and the food was superb. I highly recommend the Tomato Shorba (spicy tomato soup). I dont know if the negative reviews are slander by a competitor or simply misguided travelers who dont understand what a buffet is (you pay for it, regardless of what you order). In any case, dont listen to these reviews, theyre either out of date, or simply lies.

Price for 1 Adult Buffet is $18.95 + taxes + tips. The guy who is standing in front is impolite and will ask you to pay upfront before you even enter the place. We went there on Sunday night buffet. Naans were absolutely horrible - at least 3 days old. Samosas were frozen(Swad variety). Vada were fried at least 5 times. Sambhar was out of place. Dal was tasteless. Paneer Subzi was bit better. Zuccinni subji was average. Chola was smelling bad- at least a week old. Salad was also not good. Gajar Halwa was good. They fall short of food at least 3 times. People have to tell them. Tamba is taking advantage of being at Strip otherwise i will suggest if you like Indian food...try away from strip. I am vegan but heard that Non Vegetarian was also not good. For the price they are charging it is absolutely ridiculous. I am visiting this place after 10 years. In 2005 - Jan when i was there with the group - we identified that they had borrowed the food from Gandhi restaurant(it seems both owned by the same person). But at that time food was good. I will suggest - skip it.

I have gone through the vegas history. All the hotels and every thing re-constructed to get give more satisfaction to the people. I went to this restaurant not because it is tamba...i went because it is indian restaurant. There is no quality and taste in the food and they are not worried about that.more salt in the food.i complained about that they took that food and re cooked and again gave me the worst food. They could concentrate more on the food quality instead of more decoration inside because the vegas itself more colorful.I am not writing this review by one visit.i went many times and frustrated. There is no sincerity in the business..they are not worried about the customer satisfaction. One of the worst indian hotel.

Great indian restaurant on the strip, food is cery tasty. They offer lunch buffet in $18 and dinner buffet in $20. The buffet will have salad, daal or kadhi, a gravy like shahi paneer or malai kofta, a dry vegetable, another gravy like sambhar, roti, pakodas, uttapam, idli, samosas, mint chutney and a combination of 2 desserts from gulab jamun, rice pudding, sawayi and carrot halwa. I am not sure about the non vegan food, but I heard from my friends that non vegan was good too. Great indian restaurant operated by a sikh family. Very clean tables and dishes, self serve and very friendly and sincere staff. I spent 6 days in vegas and we ended up eating lunch or dinner at this place every single day.

After having tasted food of different countries at LV, I wanted to try Indian restaurant to feel at home. But to my surprise, it was such a disgusting experience to have food at Tamba. Very discourteous and arrogant staff. Hopeless and unauthentic Indian food I ever had. Even everything we ordered was cold and we had to wait for long till they overheated the stuff for us. I would never ever suggest anyone to go to such a place and waste money on overpriced and overrated food joint. Rather, I would advise them to taste reasonably priced Mexican food which is authentic and very much tastes like Indian food. Overall, we had very bad experience. ..

This place is a rip off. The food is okay. The service is flat out horrible. The waiters are usually so rude. I have eaten here a couple times and the nicest experience was .... Once when I was joking around with the waiter and a manager. They offered me a drink (some special alcholic beverage) Wow - that was so nice of them right? Then a $7.00 charge on the bill for a drink that just showed up to my table without anyone ordering it. If you are on a date with a girl.... Its embarassing to argue over $7. So I just let it go. In general this place is overpriced, and located on the strip to rip off the tourists.

The owner talked very rudely. They asked us to pre-pay for our food (which I dont mind but just read ahead). We arrived there in separate groups and my friend wanted to just check whether the other group is already in or not and the owner freaking forbid him to even have a look inside. I mean thats just too much. Also, food was below average. I had to eat a dish full of watermelon to feel stuffed. Had to wait for 5 minutes for a piece of naan. It was expensive too as its on the strip. Go to some other places like India oven or Mt. Everest if you really wanna enjoy Indian food.
