Ive told many people about an excellent steak house in Northern Idaho, bragging it is the best steak Ive eaten and would stack it against any. I was hesitant to go to Caldwell to yet another try at a steakhouse in Idaho after having what I thought was the best already. A friend invited me to go and try Indian Creek. He also held the same opinion I did about the Northern Idaho steak. We went on a Wednesday and I arrived a little early and was greeted by the owners Dillon and Jenn. They were fun to talk with and I told them about my experience up North. Jenn showed me the back of the menu where I found out that the two restaurant owners were related. I told them I was very excited to try their version of the same recipes. Mike and I both ordered the ribeye. Our server, Kimmy was excellent and fast. The salads came out cool and crisp and we were given the right amount of time to finish them. Our steaks followed shortly afterwards and both were cooked perfectly. Medium for Mike and medium-rare for me. They were tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. No extra doctoring required. The potatos were good sized Idaho bakers loaded with enough toppings to last the entire potato. The accompanying scone and beans were an excellent accent to the meal. Following our meal we were paid a visit by Dillon and Jenn where I informed them I was now confident I had enjoyed the best steak available. My compliments all around. I look forward to returning and watching their progress with expansion plans and enjoying the rest of the menu one steak at a time. Rich

Okay so the ONLY thing this place has going for it is a decent steak. My prawns tasted like salt and pepper and charcoal, the salad was DRENCHED in ranch, the beans are served in a 2 Tbsp catsup cup ( really- Im not exaggerating ) My overpriced acidic wine was a 3 oz serving ( again- 3 oz serving ) We paid 70 buks for good steak crappy prawns, vinegary wine and lots of ranch dressing. The bathroom is falling apart the décor is dirty and ugly- some might call it rustic but its really just outdated with some wood and brick and dead animals. I wanted to love it- I wanted them to make me feel snobby for thinking it was gross that the popcorn celing was stained where the vents blew dust on them... but We were so disappointed. We pay less for Brick 29 and can have a cocktail and dessert and are happy with everything every time... not just the meat. We will never go back. Our whole table shared in our disappointment by the way and I never do reviews I was just so unhappy with this. I just have to warn you. We really hoped that because it was so pricey we would love the food but it was nothing I couldnt do at home for 1/4 price. Id say Texas Roadhouse is better- and can handle more than steak and doesnt use condiment cups for all their "sides". So chinsey. Shame on them for overcharging and being so cheap on their end. Bleh.

Since it was the day after Thanksgiving, I called to make sure that ICS was open. An extremely friendly lady answered the phone, very inviting..... so my fiancée and I went in for dinner. We were immediately sat at our table, I had noticed that our friendly server had been triple sat, meaning that she got three tables all at once. Not only did she handle this like a professional, but she was doing so with a smile, and acknowledged us every time she came close to our table. She seemed to be very knowledgeable about the wines and the entire menu. Steve had the grilled chicken salad with honey mustard dressing, the flavor was incredible and the chicken was definitely moist, and without char marks which turns steve off to grilled chicken. Perfect! I had the Prime Rib, which was also perfect in flavor as well as temp.. We did have two extremely small problems, of which our amazing and funny server Katie M. dealt with immediately. We will definitely be back, Katie M. deserves a 5 star +, the restaurant deserves a 4.5 star, just wish that they had linen napkins though.

Oh, man. Its really not good. The steak tasted like it had an inch of salt as the crust. The mashed potatoes are those instant powdered ones and were cold. The fry bread is an abomination (how do you make bread taste gross???). I was excited to go here, paid $44 for a steak that I would have believed was seasoned by popping the lid off the salt shaker and dumping it on, and sides that were completely inedible. The prices are ridiculous, but the real problem is that no restaurant should serve food like this. You know its bad when you actually prefer a chain like Texas Roadhouse to a locally owned steakhouse. Service was slow, but the waitress was nice and knocked some off our bill... said if we let her know earlier she would have brought us another steak. It was honestly so awful I wouldnt have wanted another steak. Theres no way to make it right for the customer when you are literally just serving terrible food. At least my dogs got the $44 leftovers... I wouldnt dream of serving steak like that to any human.

After all wed seen and heard, it was disappointing. Pros: cool, western atmosphere w/ just enough deco so it felt authentic and not over done. the bartender was very nice, even brought our drinks upstairs to our table!! The owner stopped by the table to ask how dinner was - a nice touch. Cons: steaks were probably very good. they tout that cooking over an open flame of local applewood but it was impossible to tell with the heavy dose of season salt - a little salt and pepper would have been fine. baked potato was not fully cooked, the highly promoted bbq beans came in the smallest cup ive ever seen something other than a condiment served in. waitresses were visibly flustered with the busy night and at times, literally running through the dining room, rushing us to order, barely tolerating menu questions. Price: not worth it. we wont be back unless food improves a lot. Overall: hostess, bartender and owner were great. food prep, taste and wait staff attitude were severely lacking.

Had dinner there last weekend and well definitely not be returning. My wife and I like to split our meals since most times its more than we can eat. Who ever heard of a $10 split fee??? Also, weve never seen a menu that restricts what can be split. I dont think they understand the concept of splitting. You split because you dont want an entire potato or salad, etc. Well we ended up splitting their 14 oz rib eye (wasnt on the "split menu" but we convinced them to split it anyway). I think they better get their scales calibrated. This 14 oz steak was about 8-9 oz. The flavor was pretty good but we think that was because they used steak seasoning which they also put on their prawns. Of the 8-9 ozs we received, more than half was nothing but fat and grizzle. The rest was like shoe leather. If this is Caldwells best steakhouse, we will not be eating steak in Caldwell again. One up note, the servers were extremely friendly but cannot make up for the HORRIBLE food.
