Some positives, some not-so-positives based on 1 experience. Food: The Aloo Gobi lacked any subtle flavor, and had a lot of heat for medium (I like spice, and this was mostly spice vs. flavor. Also, who asks spicy level on Aloo Gobi?). The rice was meh. On the plus side, the buttered naan was about the best Ive had; perfectly cooked. The bathroom was a bit... under expectations. The press-to-work faucet turning off after about 1-2 seconds was annoying (I know theres a drought, but this simply forced me to lean on the faucet w/one hand and attempt to get enough water on my other hand). The prices are good, the service was fine, and the location is nice. However, I mostly eat somewhere for the food, and it would need to be better for me to come back.

This is the best Indian Restaurant in San Diego. This is a new place, been around for about 9 months but - Wow! Me and my wife travel to San Diego once a month. The Indian Grill will now be part of our agenda. The location is great ( huge outdoor patio that is nice and shady with a wonderful ocean breeze right off San Diego bay) and the food and staff are outstanding. The food, they make my Chicken Tikka Masala as hot (spicy ) as I need, the Naan garlic bread is hot, chewy and crunchy - perfect. The Raita is the freshest and best we have ever had. Did I mention that they have draft beer on tap, my favorite is the Karl Strauss Mosaic Session Ale. This is nice place to chill with the wife and enjoy a good meal after work or on the weekend.

Sorry, I totally dont get what folks like about this place! Our family ordered 4 separate lunch dishes out of which, 1 chicken dish was so gross tasting it was inedible, while our two "Lunch Special" wraps were flavorless and barely edible; only 1 dish had the right amount of flavor to it. To make it worse, the service was equally bad - our appetizer came AFTER the main dishes and she never came back to inquire about the food, until it was time to give us the bill and collect her tip...amazing! Yes, you can sit on the patio and enjoy flavorless Indian food, but in my opinion, you should save your precious time and money and go to many other good eateries in the neighborhood.

Best Indian Ive ever had and a breath of fresh air in an area dominated by Mexican cuisine. This was actually the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere was great with plenty of outdoor seating, outdoor bar, and comfortable inside seating. Service was awesome. I was actually served by the owner. Great please, will absolutely return each time I’m in San Diego.

Absolutely amazing tastebud experience. Layers of spice aroma fills atmosphere. The staff willing to please. We request extra Hot and they delivered. For the children mild spicy level perfect. Belly dancers grace dinner patio occasionally. Been loyal since restaurant opened. This is a must destination for your taste buds. Cheers!!!

Always amazing food and services. The owner and his fiancee make you feel like you are family. This is not a restaurant for "fast" food, its a resturant to hang out and enjoy delicious quality food. So the reviews that say they waited 45 mins go find a chain resturant. Best Indian food I have had, Daal saag is my favorite.

Stayed at a local hotel, wanted take out. This place was fantastic. Got the lamb vindaloo, medium hot. Just hot enough to hurt a little, but still edible, and full of fresh spices like cardamom. Service was great, they gave me water while I waited. Give them a chance when you get tired of the endless generic tex mex.

Not sure how other reviewers are giving this place such a high rating??!! The outdoor venue is ok - but the food took 45 mins to arrive - even though we were the only ones there... And the food wasnt anything great either Would avoid this - especially for first timers vacationing in San Diego area

Very disappointing. We were looking forward to have a good Indian food. After waiting for about an hour after ordering our food, it was nothing close to an authentic Indian food and nor was any good. It does not deserve any stars for the food but staff were courteous and thats worth a star.

I ordered medium spicy chicken Biryani and I was served soaking rice cooked with chicken and spice which is termed as plain rice in Indian cooking terminology not "Biryani" by any means. Staff who served the food did serve the food well but food was not authentic Indian.

Good flavor but way too spicy, especially we stressed that we didnt want it too spicy and the waiter didnt refill the water very often. We heard pretty much everyone at the nearby tables say the same thing. Has great potential but not good customer service.

Goat and lamb as regular dishes. Good service. Indian wings are amazing. Butter and garlic naan is pretty amazing. I was happily surprised at the spiciness and recommendations for flavor. Currently noon and place has plenty of available seating.

The owner greeted you as soon as you arrived, explained any menu item and was super friendly. The food is very well priced and is fantastic. I was passing thru on a work trip, but if I lived in San Diego I would definitely be a regular customer.

We dined there last evening and sat in their outdoor venue....very nice atmosphere. The owner welcomed us with enthusiasm and made us feel special. Their food is wonderful! I highly recommend this place as a great alternative to Mexican food.

Looking for something different then your normal everyday food. This is the place, the service is fantastic, and they will make food to taste. Also the Haywards 5000 beer is amazing. This place is a must stop for those in the area.

Knock your socks off traditional Indian Food. Family run, attention to details throughout. I had the Rogan Josh (lamb) and it was amazing. You have to get through the sea of Mexican restaurants, but a well worth extra block walk.

Late deliver it took almost 45 minutes to get the food. We placed an order vegetable biryani, some curries and naan as well, none of them is good. Biryani was made with frozen vegetables and no salt same as well with curries.
