My research group at Caltech has a weekly science meeting. We are a group of about 11 and we give the group lunch. I have for 2 years picked from about 4 restaurants that we like and ordered lunch. One of those restaurants has been the Mediterranean Café. I order the afternoon before and pick up lunch at 11:30. I ask my group to pick from the menu before I call. This week I spent the day getting orders from the café and called to order. I spoke with a man who said he was the owner but would not tell me his name. He said he wouldnt make 11 wraps for me because he was busy at 11:30. He also said if I wanted to order dinners he would do it. How crazy is that? He wont make 65 to 85 dollars from me consistently but would do it for more money. He obviously doesnt realize that my group has luncheons for big crowds on a regular bases and uses local restaurants. And his obvious greed is so crazy to me I cant even believe he did it. Not to mention, I have ordered this same lunch there about every 4 to 6 weeks for 2 years. I am so flabbergasted at his response and rudeness. I will never go there again and will certainly never use it for any event. I even asked if I came in to the building at 11:00 and ordered the wraps would he make them and he said no. So beware, when you go into that restaurant you might be told you arent spending enough. Shame on you mr. I dont want to tell you my name.

This place is epic. Fastest service. Probably one of the busiest lunch places in Old Town Pasadena, given its size. Its pretty cheap (below $10) for the meals, and every meal selection comes with everything you can possibly want in Mediterranean food. The only drawback here would be the dine-in option and the lack of seating that ensues. Cant fault the place for being so popular. -=-Beef Kabob-=- This is practically the only thing that I get here. Ive heard the chicken and shawerma were good, but why mess with those when Ive already settled for my favorite. The beef...its juicy and never dry. Your beef kabob plate comes with 2 skewers of all the meat youll need, rice, salad, hummus, pita bread and epic garlic and hot sauces.....Emphasis on the "Epic Garlic". Eating here for my first time made me realize I was not a vampire in this, or previous, lifetimes. Its just so garlicky good. Good enough to disperse conference rooms and turn away prospective clients. Just do it, and overdo it....its worthhhhhh it! Ill be back again to ruin yet another meeting.

Quite simply the best quick Mediterranean place around Lake, and arguably the best quick lunch place in Pasadena. It also may be the most efficiently run organization Ive ever seen. The unique arrangements, optimization of processes, and consideration of menu items is impressive, and the result is both surprisingly fast and excellent. The friendly founder was until recently often present at the counter assisting, but passed away, with his picture now on the wall. Note that despite the efficiency, going through orders in 30 seconds will still result in considerable waits when 50 people are in line, and this isnt that uncommon at lunch hour on weekdays. Avoiding typical lunch hours, even by a half an hour, is by far the better choice.

No fuss. Just good food, super fast service, and really unbeatable prices. I come for lunch here about 3 times per week. The chicken shawarma is so flavorful, the rice pilaf is delicious, and the falafels are big, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and really good. I always get the cucumber yoghurt dip on the side, its always fresh and great. I personally dont eat beef so I cant tell you what thats like but it does always look good on other peoples plates. The BEST part about this place?...the service is hands down the fastest Ive ever seen anywhere. Seriously, sometimes it takes longer for the card reader to read the chip on your card than it does to get the food you just ordered. Amazing.

So far, I have tried their chicken gyro plate and falafel wrap. The chicken gyro was a bit bland and could use more flavor but I really liked the falafel wrap . I also like that this place is open until 10pm. Not many dining options in the area are open late, so I love that I can call in at 9pm and its ready to pick it up in 10 minutes. They also serve coffee, beer, and wine. Service is also very welcoming and friendly. Mediterranean Cafe also makes a great place to grab something to eat before or after a Giants game.

I got the lamb kabob which has great seasoning and the hummus is really good. The place was super crowded but I got my food very fast anyway. There was no place to sit, so Im glad I was getting it to go. The servers were very friendly too. They serve everything, for there or to go, in Styrofoam, which is horrible for the planet. Since I know I am going back, I am going to buy my own three-section container to bring, to see if they will put my meals in that.

This is probably the best lunch spot in the area for a lot of reasons. 1) Prices are very reasonable. 2) Quality is great. All the food tastes super fresh. 3) Timing to get food is very fast. Service is always great here. My favorite item on the menu is the full serving of grape leaves for $5.25. Lots of free parking is in the lot right next to the restaurant.

No-nonsense mediterranean food. Prices and portion sizes are very reasonable. I tend to order the chicken kabobs or shwarma and they have never been dry. The garlic sauce (order extra) and hummus are very tasty. What really makes this place stand out, however, is the speed of which you get your food; its often ready by the time youre given your receipt.

I come here roughly once a month. Ive only tried the kebab plates and they are really good. i usually get a mix plate with one chicken and one steak kebab. the plate also has one pita bread, hummus, rice and salad. Service: they are nice and really efficient. you get your food FAST Parking: theres a big parking lot and its not a problem

right after the first bite I fell in love with the food here. every thing is good. I was told it was on the cheap side and I had my reservations regarding the quality of the food. but it was a great surprise... I would recommend all to try this place, go for the taste and not the ambiance. btw, lamb is my favorite.

Awful. Stinky. Smelly. Sweaty. Arab. Yep thats whose hair you will find in your food. This place gives everything in a styrofoam shell, whether it is to go or dine-in. GREAT for the ENVIRONMENT ! Boycott this place on their hair in the food, and continue it because of their negative effect on the environment.

While I have yet to try the beef or chicken, I love the vegie combo. Hommus is great, falafel, if fresh, is fantastic, and babaganoosh (sp?) is smokey and wonderful. There can be very long lines during lunch but they move quickly. Seating is limited inside but there are a number of tables on a covered patio too.
