The food was "ok" - I just think people should know its over-rated. I had their fish plate. It was good. Except both appetizer and entree were SUPER salty - and I actually like my food salty, so thats how extreme it was. I always wonder if this is a restaurant gimmick to get me thirsty so I will order more drinks. I recommend saying "no salt" and add "al gusto". I went on a Sunday afternoon. And although we made "reservations for two", they stuck us in the back patio. It was super noisy. Very "family-friendly" with kids screaming and crying with the waiters singing happy birthday multiple times during our meal - with everyone joining in "family style" - yikes... If youre taking someone out on a date - avoid the noisy back patio and popular family hours (which could be: "anytime kids are wide awake" + "parents are not at work" = most weekend daytime hours). Its rowdier than you would expect. Definitely not that "Romantic Italian" vibe back there. I think they are attempting to create that loud "Its Italian!" thing - but it wasnt that kind of vibe either. It was annoyingly loud where you cant even hear the person across from you speak - so youre forced to raise your voice too. Its defintely a mood kill if youre trying to impress the lady. I was relieved when I left the restaurant and walked onto the quiet street. Could be the tent patio structure amplifies the sound... Regardless, that was not the experience I was expecting. Keep in mind, this happened last Sept - 6 months ago - and I just passed by this place today, remembered all this and felt compelled to write and post this review. Im still baffled that this restaurant is SO highly-rated... I read a bunch of the other reviews raving about the pizza. Im open to giving this place a second try since it is local. If you must go, you may want to wait for sidewalk seating (that looks ideal) - and say "no salt"

Food: I had the terun pizza and my date had the squid ink pasta. I also had the white sangria. The pasta was actually really good, not too salty with a generous portion of seafood. The pizza was alright. I think the dough was a bit thick and got real soggy real fast. As far as good true Italian pizza good, its middle of the pack in comparison to the other options in the south bay/peninsula. We had the panna cotta fit dessert which was also good. lots of fruit and well made panna cotta. 4/5 Service: we had reservations and were promptly seated in the back corner of the patio area. It took a long time for the waiter to show up, no real friendly demeanor after I asked him how his night was going. We ordered an appetizer that never came (which the waiter was surprised at as he was cleaning up our dishes from our mains). I had 4 total interactions with him throughout the night. Order food, flagged him down to get bread (which took a long time), dish clearing, and the check. The people delivering food couldnt have been nicer though. I also had a note in the reservation about celebrating my dates birthday, and while I didnt ask or expect dessert or anything. For a nice place in PA, I kind of expected a comment or question about it. But the score was based more on the lack of good service. 2/5 I give this place 3/5 because the food was good enough to consider going here again to give it a second chance, but I would not volunteer this place as an option if asked for where to eat in Palo alto.

Went here with a few coworkers the other day. One of my coworkers is from Italy, and he says the pizzas here are remniscent of his hometown in Italy, so the pizzas here are definitely authentic! Terún bakes their pizzas in a Marra Forni wood burning oven. The Italian coworker ordered Pizza Quattro Stagioni; this must be one of his favorites, since he ordered this last time we came here! Another coworker had the gnocchi. I tried a gnocco, and immediately tasted purple potato, which is a variation of sweet potato (common in Asia). I had the Pizza San Daniele, which had Prosciutto San Daniele 24mo, cremini mushrooms, mozzarella, arugula, shaved Parmigiano, and truffle oil. This pizza was light, with the absense of tomato sauce. It was also salty from the cheese and prosciutto, but the bitterness of the arugula countered the saltiness! Will definitely come back when craving thin crust Italian pizza. Oh, and parking is CRAZY here. Park away, on the other side of El Camino for 2 hours and that will be just enough time; its good to walk a bit after eating!

My wife and I first met Maico a number of years ago at Pasta? in downtown Palo Alto. One visit he was gone and we heard later that he was at a new Italian restaurant on California Avenue. Once Terun opened we had dinner and Maico shared this was a family owned and operated restaurant. We met Franco, Maicos brother, Giusippe and Kristyan, the certified chef of napoli (?) pizza. This is our second favorite restaurant after iTalico (their second restaurant)! We ve taken 4 trips to Italy and visited Rome, Naples, Florence, Frascati and Paestum, just walking, eating and drinking!! The attention to detail and quality of the food at Terun is equal to any of the restaurants weve visited in Italy. Weve had most of the items on the menu and they are all extremely tasty, not heavy, and generous portions. But our favorite is the Tri Colore pizza which we always finish every bite. This is a fun, authentic, family owned, well managed Italian restaurant, with staff who are engaging and competent in their trade. Buon Appetito!

First off, the place is very busy so expect to wait, especially if youre in a party of more than two. The antipasto selection and quality are quite good. The "piatto misto" in my opinion was extremely good, even though overpriced. Burrata is also good quality. And now the pizza: ingredients are certainly fresh, but the crust and overall taste are different from the original certified pizza. They do a great job with the timing, though, which is extremely important to me: the pizza comes to you straight from the oven, as its supposed to be (Ive seen places where pizza is ready before youre done with your appetizer...). Other food is also great quality overall. The service can be good or just OK. Some of the waiters/waitresses/barista would require a better professional training. The place is owned and managed by Italians from Calabria. They are friendly and, in my opinion, they know how to run the business. Food 4, service 4, price 3.5, location 4. Overall: 4
