We came over for a lunch, on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The place was quite busy, but there were still a few tables free outside by the side of the restaurant. The problem is they are more like bar tables youd use for a drink and maybe a dessert, but thats it. They are uncomfortably low for a person to be able to eat in a normal manner (note to self: if you ever go again, sit inside). The service was fast enough, though somewhat confusing since 4 different waiters came over and all wanted to take our order?! Obviously they keep poor track of who has which tables. Anyhow, lets skip to the food. We got a plate with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and some bread to dunk in. Plus points for warm bread and no points for the before mentioned "meal". Seriously? Whose idea was it to make some sort of a vinaigrette on a plate for you to eat with bread? Is that whats fashionable now? Im seriously disappointed if thats the case. Id understand if theyd bring cheese or some paté or just something truly Italian with or without bread... but oil and vinegar... that was really unnecessary. We ordered an appetiser - Burrata con Prosciutto, which was delicious, no complaints there at all. Id order it again without a doubt. As the main course my partner ordered Fettuccine Bolognese and I ordered a Chicken Sandwich. Fettuccine were okay, maybe had a bit too much sauce, but not to complain about. Chicken Sandwich on the other hand was anything but Italian. The size of it was American (I know this is America, but theyre running an Italian restaurant....). There was more bread than chicken on my plate. In between were mushrooms, very sticky cheese, some salad and tomatoes. This was such a miss on my part. I was sorry I didnt order a Chicken Salad instead. To make it even worse, the dish comes with fries. At that point they lost lost the second star for me. Italians would serve you anything but fries. So all in all, Id say its an okay place to go to, but its not nearly as Italian as it should be or as they advertise it to be. I know its supply and demand, but seriously... you can get fries 500ft away in 5 Guys. Ill seriously rethink about coming again.

Very disappointed. My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner, expecting something special. We had a reservation and were taken to the last table at the wall. Uncomfortably small and very close to the next couple. Fortunately they left [without finishing their entrees] when we were seated next to them. More room for us! But the table was next to the fire emergency exit [safety hazard?], and there was a cabinet right next to me. This contained the pepper mills which the staff occasionally would come to take or replace...annoying.. Now for the food, edible, but nothing exciting. For most of the items the favorite spice appeared to be salt.. We were told as we left, that we should have denied the table...I felt we shouldnt have had to. A good hostess should know how unacceptable it is, especially when there were other empty tables available. The service staff was ok, but I felt we had some one in training as we had to ask for things like cocktails, and a steak knife.. I may give it a second chance..if I am in the mood for pizza at lunch.

My wife and I visited Trabocco last Saturday night for an anniversary dinner. The service staff was great. Very attentive. However, the meal will hopefully be our least memorable anniversary dinner. In retrospect, Im embarrassed I didnt send back the "Pollo all Cotadina" I ordered. The root vegetables, including the non-root brussel sprouts, were not just grilled. They were overcooked and burned-- except for one baby carrot that somehow escaped the scorching and was barely cooked. That was the whole dish besides the chicken. The half chicken itself was okay, but nothing special. My wife had the "Ortolano" pizza, with zucchini, eggplant, artichokes, and mushrooms. Again, nothing special. The crust was kind of wet and floppy with big slices of the vegetables on top. You had to eat it with knife and fork. Finally, the dining room is very large, seating maybe 120 people. With the high ceiling and no noise dampening, it is very loud. Its difficult to converse. The noise level is a problem with many restaurants, unfortunately.

If you want to visit Italy but your schedule wont allow..... go to Trabocco. This is the only Italian restaurant that I would take my Italian In-laws to. Tonight was their 55th wedding anniversary and Guisseppi the chef/owner made the evening unforgettable. His menu is true to his heritage, start with the polipo y potate, our Friday night favorite the porchetta the osso bocco or the pasta of the house flavors of theses with just the right spice. What makes this restaurant stand out is the sense that you are entering into your family dinner, each and every day. Welcomed by all the fantastic staff, and they owner and his wife.

We ordered two dishes, but I forgot to take a picture of our first dish with an oxtail pasta. It was just so delicious looking that it was gone in a few bites! The waiter was very charismatic~ love his voice! He was very considerate and asked if we were sharing, which I didnt know what that meant until he came back with two plates of one of the dishes! They had already split it so that we dont have to do the whole exchanging thing over the table! The interior was gorgeous and everything was very fancy! Definitely a must-go place for a date, it leaves quite an impression! :)

As a life time resident of Alameda I must say, there are better restaurants in Alameda. The food looks good, but tastes bad and very over priced. Food was served cold, and the sauce tasted worse then Safeway sauce. Service was very pushy especially trying to push us into buying wine. I didnt want wine. As poor as it was I should not have had to pay $75 for such crap. I do not understand the good reviews, did these peoples tastebuds die? Next time I go out for Italian, Im going to Cera Una Volta or the Alameda landmark, Linguinis.

One of our favorite places in Alameda. The owner, Giuseppe, is a total sweetheart. He really makes you feel welcome, making his rounds to greet customers personally. As someone who is now on a gluten-free diet, Im thankful I can still enjoy some of the delicious pasta dishes that Trabocco has to offer. Some of our favorite dishes: Cristina pizza, Ravioli con Coda, Chitarrine al Cacao (gf pasta option available), Burrata Con Prosciutto, Caprese Salad (off-menu item!).

Four stars for the Bolgonese. But for me and my friends vegetarian pasta entree, bleh. The pasta was hard, they did not cook it long enough or properly. The portions were laughable teeny tiny and the prices were up there. The ambiance nice, the waitress distant. The whole experience was to remember NEVER to return. When I saw how the fat woman on Check Please blantantly lie to viewers, I had to review this restaurant and tell the truth.

We had such a great experience at Traboccco. Even though its located in a shopping center, once inside youd never know it. Best of all, we sat at the "chefs counter" and had the pleasure of watching amazing dish after beautiful dish being prepared. They were totally busy on a Thursday night and the food looked and tasted incredible. The chef was super friendly and personable and totally hands on. We will absolutely be back!
