We wanted so much more from this place. Sushi is very under represented in this area. First. Its operated by a Chinese family, which is TOTALLY FINE. However, you have to deliver! Sushi, the food AND the service. The first person to the table was an older (probably 4 years older than me) woman who said nothing but "what do you want to drink"? It went downhill from there. Food was incredibly late. Not as described. Thrown at us. We paid and left. We then went to the, not great but very good, Korean run Sushi bar 10 minutes away.

Wonderful ambiance in the tradition of Japanese atmosphere. Delicious food, probably the best tasting Japanese food along the Rockridge College Ave food strip. A bit on the pricey side, so if you eat Japanese food pretty regularly this might be more of once a month thing rather than once a week. The one thing is that their portions seem to be smaller than other Japanese restaurants in the area and for more money. But all in all, a worthy experience if you want to go to a nice restaurant for Japanese food. Delicious!

I was pleasantly suprised with the quality of food at this small restaurant. Definitely not one of those places where you go crazy looking through the pages of colorful and overly-stuffed special rolls. They do it simple and right here, but with a variety of more traditional japanese dishes that Im sure all taste delicious. Mushrooms with sake and butter (highly recommend), hamachi sashimi, uni, and chawanmushi were all on point. Well done Rikyu

Went here 2 nights ago and still dreaming/drooling over it. The chawanmushi was delightful, the enoki mushrooms in butter and sake - I could swim in, the sashimi was so fresh, and the uni was heaven - I even closed my eyes for a sec. Very impressed, definitely comparable to Kirala. My coworker told me I definitely have to try the miso black cod, hamachi cheeks, and sweet potato pie... So Rikyu same time next week it is!

I have had lunch twice at Rikyu and was very pleased with the ambiance, the service and the food. I had a bento box both times. The grilled teriaki fish was just fabulous. the portion was generous, the seasoning perfect and the fish was moist and succulent. Every other item in the bento box was equally good. In addition to great food, the price was modest. I highly recommend Rikyu.

Good, not too expensive, sushi restaurant. Lunch Prices are cheaper. Chicken teriyaki is one of the best in the area. They have good udon options too. Make sure when you order udon you let them know if you want tempura in the udon or on the side. :)

Very much enjoyed our dinner. Good selection of sakes, sushi well presented and fresh. Staff was attentive. We were "happy campers".

Easily the best sushi in Rockridge, and possibly the region. Their chicken teriyaki is also sublime.
