I went last night for my girlfriends birthday. The food is always good. But, my girlfriend is allergic to shellfish. We ordered rolls that we knew did not have shellfish in them. Well, one of the rolls we ordered did not come the way it was supposed to. It didnt have the asparagus that it was supposed to have and it had CRAB in it. We didnt notice it at first. We thought it was roe. But after my friend ate 1/2 of it she discovered the crab. We panicked. The first waitress we talked to said nothing when we told her. She just stared at us. The second waiter we called over, he said "Do you want something else?" I tried to explain that she could end up in the hospital because of this. Nothing... no apology... nothing. Then the last waitress came by. I asked to speak to the owner or manager. She said that neither were there. She did say sorry, but nothing else. Being that it is a restaurant that serves a lot of fish, they should be prepared for such emergencies. They were clueless. I will never return to this restaurant.

We are frequent patrons and give Matsuri an enthusiastic recommendation for Food and Service. The only drawback is the size of the restaurant. It is cozy. Thankfully, during the summer they open up a few tables outside. Heat lamps are also turned on if needed once the sun goes down. The fish is always fresh and the salmon is especially tasty. Lots of rolls to choose from. For something different, try the Nacho Roll; diced seasoned Hamachi on tortilla chips.

Food is always good. Wait time was acceotable today. Service can be a hit or miss. Today was a miss. In all fairness, its always been a hit. Normally its been good overall. Today, when you said, thank you to our server, you would expect a response like, my pleasure , youre welcome , no problem, instead we got...uh huh ..everytime. its a small thing..yes. but enough not to give a 5 star experience. I will say yes. We will try again next time.

Fresh and tasty food, small and hard to find place, very reasonably priced. We ordered The Pink Lady, Philidelphia, and Tekka maki. They were all fabulous. There is a ramp on 1st street that takes you to the restaurant. It is just SW of the alley that is SW of the church. We mistook it for apartments at first. We got there right when they opened for dinner at 5, on a Wednesday. The service was great.

The food actually is below expectation. We ordered the classical "eel on rice", but it was not as good as other Japan Restaurants. Rices cold and too little eel "juice". And it was pretty expensive. The eel on rice on Bay Area is around $16-18, but here it is $21, way too expensive. Also we ordered the rice noodle soup, just so so, the seafood in it was not very fresh. Not recommended.

Good sushi, but our waitress left us for 45 minutes after ordering and when we finally flagged down another wait staff to ask where our order was, we were told the sushi chef hadnt started it yet. We left hungry. Too bad, because the other sushi place in town isnt quite as good, but much more efficient.

Love this place! Its our go to for delicious and fresh sushi. Our favorites are seared albacore special with added garlic chips and sriracha, seared tatki, and lobster and/or snowcrab tacos. Absolutely delicious food, and the staff is super friendly, and give awesome service.

I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant, however, take care not to go when its busy. You may end up waiting upwards of 1-1/2 hours to receive your full order, especially if you decide to order more sushi after placing your initial order.

Sushi tasted dry and kind of bland, service was pretty slow and they forgot to bring us a spoon for miso soup until we asked the second time he came around, and they completely forgot to bring us our sake.

They have a delicious lunch bento box and its also quite filling. Theres several good options for the main part of the bento box as well. Service was a little slow but not too bad. Definitely recommend.

Great fresh food. The place is small and in a little bit if a weird location. We walked right past it the first time. But the food is great and at a really good price for such good quality fish.

Everything was delicious. Had the sashimi sample platter and enjoyed just about everything. My favorite was the gobo tempora which was super tasty. Wish I had room for desert

This is the best sushi bar in the bay area hands down. the chefs are friendly and the fish is fresh. If something is not perfect they wont serve it.

Tucked away in back of building. Good selection of high quality sushi, bento boxes combos, and Japanese beverages. Intimate seating.

Best sushi in all of Benicia. I did have issues with takeout a couple times, but the food is so good it still makes up for it.
