Finally came here! Originally my friend recommended this restaurant to me about a year ago but didnt get around to making a visit. Newport Restaurant Week is what brought me here. I came here last night with a friend for the prefixed dinner menu ($40). We arrived, parking was atrocious so ended valeting which wasnt bad, only $4. My friend and I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. What caught our eye was the jellyfish decor. The tables were beautifully setup and we were excited for a good night. I ordered some red wine for the both of us, it was Pinot, but forget the name. Will have to update this later. So dish selections - Appetizers - °Ahi Tuna Poke: I really enjoyed this dish. The Ahi had a little kick to it and served with crispy wonton. °Piquillo Peppers: This was the better of the two. The flavor was amazing. Peppers were stuffed with creamy goat cheese. A definite must try. Entrees - °Swordfish: The fish was nicely cooked. The fish was served with a potato puree and roasted mushrooms. °Braised Short Ribs: This is also a fine choice if youre a meat lover. The ribs was very tender and served with truffle creamed corn. I enjoyed the Swordfish more, theres my biased for seafood. Desserts: °Chocolate Molten Cake & Carrot Cake: I am not a fan of cakes for desserts because they tend to be very rich and sweet. It was the same with both. The Chocolate Cake was too chocolaty, while the carrot cake was too sweet. Dont get me wrong, both were good but not my type of dessert. Id say the molten cake was the better of the two. Service was pristine. I could not have asked for anything more. Our server was attentive, explained the menu to us, and had a sense of humor. This definitely made the night enjoyable on top of the delicious dishes. The Cannery was a winner for me and will back!

I took my wife here for our anniversary and we had a great time. Everyone treated us extremely nice, the food was superb and served pretty fast and we had a great table with a beautiful view of the water, boats, and rich people with too much money pulling up their yachts to the dock to come have dinner. Our waitress was very nice and got us some cocktails very quickly, but she could have been a bit more attentive, though. she did have her hands very full and we werent in a hurry so we just relaxed and had a nice leisurely time. We ordered the scallops for an appetizer and they were delicious but we were quite disappointed that there were only two scallops, also served with a little pile of risotto, i believe, but the taste, texture and flavors were amazing. ($16) No regrets there. My wife had the old man and the sea ( a mix of shrimp, scallops and catch of the day) and i had the lamb shanks. both dishes were extremely delicious and perfectly cooked. we had a nice dessert and shared some wine. overall we will definitely be back and recommend the cannery to others. its a bit pricey, some high $20s and mostly mid $30s and their wine list is a little ridiculously priced. i could be wrong, but i think we found 2 red wines on the entire wine list under $40. some of these wines we even recognized from the store and know one of them sells for around $12, but was marked up to $42. but hey, its a wonderful, romantic restaurant i recommend highly that will be visiting again in the future and hopefully, next time well be the ones pulling our yacht up to the dock for dinner.

From the moment we contacted The Cannery regarding the planning of our celebration to the final guest leaving on the night of the event, our experience with them could not have been any more outstanding. Not only were my wife and I delighted, we received raves reviews during our event and days afterward. Everyone was simply blown away with every aspect of the food, service and ambiance. Were it possible to post six stars we would do so gladly. Though many restaurants were available for our celebration, none compared to quality, kindness and genuineness extended to us by the Cannery. You can pay any venue to put on a good dinner but you cannot put a price tag on people who go out of their way to ensure every detail was attended to. Our guests, family and friends, young and old alike, were treated with the utmost care. Several our guests even asked us if I was friends with the owner and staff...thats how remarkable they were. As to the event, it may be of interest to note it was a celebration of the lives of my mother and father, who had recently passed. We scattered their ashes at sea and afterward docked at The Cannery, where The Cannery then made our day most memorable. My parents loved the ocean and moved our family of nine from Ohio to California so we could be near it. We could think of no better place to say our final goodbyes than at a location they so loved. I cannot imagine how our day could have been made more special. Thank you everyone at The Cannery - we owe you such huge debt of gratitude!

Oh. My. Yumminess! Everything was amazing! We went fir brunch (which they have on Saturdays. Yay!!! And until 3 pm. Yay again!) I ordered the special which was prime rib eggs Benedict with chipotle hollandaise sauce. It was sooo good! The prime rib was tender and flavorful. And it was cooked exactly how I asked, which honestly doesnt usually happen at restaurants. The chipotle hollandaise sauce was just the right amount of spicy. The eggs were poached perfectly. And the potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was absolutely perfect. My husband got the free sh tacos and said they were the best ones hes ever had. The friends we were with ordered the huevos rancheros and the Chilean sea bass. They both said it was very good. We had a side of bacon and the bacon was thick, yummy, and perfectly crunchy. As an appetizer we had the Ahi Poke. I didnt taste it because I dont eat seafood (especially raw) but my husband said it was amazing. He loves sushi. And our friends dont love raw fish but they tasted it and said it was very good. We also got an appetizer that was toasted sourdough bread with feta cheese, honey, and hazelnuts on top. It was also amazing. For dessert we ordered the caramel pudding with toffee on top and the balboa Sunday. They were both SO GOOD! I just cant even get over how yummy everything was! I will definitely be going back. Oh, and aside from yummy food, our waitress was very nice and offered wonderful customer service.

came here for my company party. We were seated at the dock area (outside part) of the restaurant. And the view was breath taking. Someone was docking their yacht nearby, and hop on to the restaurant. It was pretty neat. The service was great, the ambience was great. You have to dress appropriately for this particular restaurant. But we were having company christmas party, so we were just wearing our company tshirt. They were cool with it. The food was great, THey have lunch deals where you get salad, a choice of main, and a dessert for less than $20. The prices were reasonable and the food wasnt bad. The food is not exquisitely well, but it didnt taste bad. If you like the dock view with the yachts, then youre bringing your date to the cannery restaurant. OH, try their seafood platter for appetizers. Its good. And their crab cake is the best, no flour and no gooey thing that binds the crab cake together, it just pure chunks of crab meat. The best crab meat Ive ever ate so far. Not liking their meat dishes, especially their steaks, we had steaks and fillet mignon, they were overcook and tough, when I asked for medium well. Their dessserts were good, our company ordered a lot of their desserts, eventhough we were stuffed from all the dishes we ate, they taste pretty good.
