Comfortable casual atmosphere, GREAT food, young and enthusiastic foodies seem to be running this place. The seafood has been impeccable, creative and not too expensive, though their market prices on the fish in the counter are a bit high. Now they open for breakfast on weekends, and if you pick and choose, you can get extraordinary meals early too. The french toast is special, custardy in the middle, crunchy and carmelized on the outside. Oh, and their bloody marys are excellent, if you like them spicy but not cruelly hot. This is an order-at-the-counter and then seat yourself place. Weve never been there when its been very busy, I imagine the line could back up as there are only two order stations. Whenever weve been there, weve walked right up and placed our order. The system seems to work, as our food always arrives hot and very quickly. The wait staff brings everything and times the entree properly after youre halfway through the appetizer. They do add 4% right to the tab for tips, as I suspect many people neglect to tip because they had to stand in a line to order. Its not McDonalds, people, those waiters are hustling, so tip appropriately, keeping that 4% in mind. We wondered what would follow the Westbay in this spot. Early on they didnt seem quite confident, but now Fish Camp has settled in and become an excellent stop in our "where shall we eat?" menu.

1 block from Sunset beach, this indoor/outdoor corner seafood cafe couldnt be any simpler to dine on seafood. They structured it in such a way that makes even the pickiest eaters enjoy a great seafood meal. Its simple; walk in, choose the fish you like from like 15 different kinds fish, then decided..."do I want my fish as a salad; sandwich; tacos; or a plate. Ive tried the sandwich and tacos versions and it very tasty and filling. But thats not all, dude these guys have the tastiest fried calamari and sourdough bread. Sucks, the bread is extra for a half or full loaf, but totally worth it. Lastly the price are actually reasonable...it is seafood after all. You and another, if you like to eat will probably spend about $40-60 easy. Individually though maybe $20-25. BTW, they charge I think a 4% service charge in the total because its not a traditional restaurant style place. You just order and sit, you get your drink, theyll bring the food and clean up (i.e. theres waiters but theyre not specifically waiting on you). Anyways, great place for quick, casual, great tasting seafood.

This place is a local jewel and am not sure why this sister of Kings Fish House does not have more "Fish Camp" locations. I challenge anyone to find this combination of so many types of fish, with so many options on how to have it cooked (i.e. grilled, blackened, etc, etc), and so many options on how to have it served (i.e. plate, salad, sandwich, taco). It is sort of like a takeout place (place order at cash register), however with tables to eat inside or outside. Due to the light service in which the meal is served to your table, there is a 4% surcharge is added to each bill (in lieu of a tip I presume). My favorite is the mexican yellowtail, grilled, in a soft taco, topped with avocado. It is stuffed with the toppings. It is NOT small. Also, for an appetizer, the Baja Shrimp Cocktail is amazingly good... Calamari by the 1/2 lb or full lb... Oh, and the sauteed spinach is awesome! The prices are very reasonable for quality seafood in this casual dining setting... Enjoy!!

First visit was very good. Prices are reasonable. Fish display for retail was helpful in deciding what fish to order. Second visit was the worst. Ordered the Scallops and Shrimp Battered. Batter has no taste. It was over cooked as the shrimp and scallops were like rubber. I tried to eat it after taking the batter off. The cocktail sauce helped save it. One of the scallops did not get battered very well that left half the scallop exposed so the deep frying made the scallop black.. Veggies and Slaw was my lunch that day. Retail fish display that day could have used a lot of love. Alll of the fish was old except the farmed salmon

We were on a vacation to L.A. and stopped randomly at Fish Camp while driving back from Huntington Beach around 9 pm, exhausted. Normally when I see "market price" for seafood on a menu, I know Im about to get kicked in the pants - but not here! We got swordfish, trout, shrimp skewers, and a few other meals for $10-$12 for 8 oz fillets. They all came with two sides and we had TONS of food. It was great, too. We ate every bite of the fish - especially those prepared blackened, I couldnt get enough. Really good food, cheaper than I expected, and a clean, fun atmosphere. Oh, and the clam chowder was great, too.

Pricey but decent place. 1.pick your seafood (fish, shrimp, eat). 2. How you want it (sandwich, salad, plate), 3. Prep (grilled, crusted, blackened, etc). Cute closed outdoor patio area, well lite by the site. Dog friendly, outdoor area not covered area. Crew brings fresh batch every 2days, although I would check the fridge for freshest look. American style preparation of seafood, but offers marinated versions. Free parking lot. Not crowded for Sunday brunch lunch. Clam chowder and seafood mahi mahi garlic marinate was good.

Im sure they habe better days. We had a lot of problems with a variety of dishes (4 in our party) so Im eating based on my one and only experience there. Other ppl in our party go often especially for the banana pudding and they like it. Even without the problems I wasnt impressed. For that area there are much better places to eat. And I wasnt as impressed with their banana pudding or other desserts. My wedge salad was okay and the loaf of bread was awesome. Sorry to say I will not return.

We were very glad we gave this place a second chance. Today our shrimp & salmon Were perfectly grilled, our sides were delicious, everything came hot to our table. Last week my Alaskan Halibut $24.95 was the size of a deck of cards (maybe). It was prepared blackened which tasted like burnt chili powder, no flavor. My husbands salmon was very dry. The staff is friendly and gives great service. Were hopeful that Fish Camp will turn out to be one of our lical favorites.

We had a nice morning at the dog beach down a ways. Got hungry. Long drive home. Stopped here. Shouldnt have. The nice lady at the counter took our order very politely. 3 stars. The food; shrimp and scallop plate, halibut taco, not good. Also, taco took 30 mins and I had to go ask her about it. Waited longer because they had forgotten about it. Didnt want it any more. Never got it. - 2 stars. Left hungry. Clam chowder was...was it clam chowder?

This is our Date Nite go-to. Truly the ambiance of a fish camp, the extensive menu is sure to please. A choice of several different preparations for your choice of fish makes for a multitude of selections. I always favor the steamed clams with a loaf of bread and white wine or the fish and chips with the to-die for lightly battered crunchy goodness. This place is great for a crowd!

They were out of yellow tail at 7:00pm on a Saturday night??? so ordered mahi mahi fish tacos. received a piece of fish about the size of my thumb which was greasy and hiding under to much cabbage stuff. Should display fresher cuts of fish in th glass case! once you get your food they forget about you. they need to re-think the prices and ditch the ording system.
