All the stars given are for the nice atmosphere, location, and decent service. The food though... I order the $60 steak and lobster. I knew they served the inferior spiny lobster, but man was this lobster bad. It was dry, and HARD. It had the consistency of a rubber bouncy ball. You could probably throw it on the ground and it would bounce right back up to you. As for the steak, it was cooked perfectly rare like I asked it be, but it was the most bland steak I have ever eaten. Tasted like they use USDA select grade steak and sell it at mid tier steak house prices. overall I felt like I could have received a better meal if we had gone to outback steakhouse. We werent looking for a super fancy restaurant, something nice but not super expensive. What we got was bottom tier steakhouse food at mid tier steakhouse prices. My meal was $75 and my friends was around $50. Hardly worth it considering I can get higher grade steak at albertsons for $16 cut fresh and actually sear it and add some salt and pepper. It tasted like their steak was cooked in an oven with no searing, and no salt or pepper, let alone anything like rosemary or thyme.

Bluewater Grill is gorgeous. The setting is perfect as it is on the top of the marina on Balboa Peninsula. I enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The manager, Rodrigo has a great helpful, attentive personality. He is very proud of Bluewater and rightly so for many reasons. Bluewater was packed even though it is a bit off the main Blvd on the Peninsula and even though there are so many other restaurants nearby. The place being packed (tells you something) and people were waiting to get a table either on the large patio (sitting next to marina) or inside to enjoy the upscale feel of this fine restaurant. The bar area is large and friendly and well stocked. More than one bartender to serve the customers every whim. I had no problem engaging conversation at the bar and surrounding tables; locals tell me they love Bluewater Grill. I am now a Bluewater Grill fan! I think you will love this fine restaurant. Hope this helps! Note: Give Rodrigo a raise and mention that cmilton111 (Google Guide) sent you. By: cmilton111 Google Guide 7.15.2017

Its not that it was really bad it just used to be a lot better God is the fishstew I ordered fish tacos which used to be spectacular sadly there was barely any fish and neither one of them the side consisted of a little blob of beans and an iced tea it tasted fine but truthfully I would have been WAY better off with happy hour at Woodys Wharf for $2 a piece or the $5 monsters at Bear Flag its a lovely place but they streamlined the menu because they now have 6 locations Im told and the reasons I used to go there which was the fabulous fish tacos and the amazing fish stew both are absent Ive been eating there since it was Delaneys probably 40 years ago as I was raised in the trailer park sadly its not what it was even 2 months ago I think Im probably done sorry guys I guess 6 restaurants make it impossible to have one really great one I was disappointed and Ive never said that about this restaurant its right take everybody that I wanted to impress.

This was without a doubt, One of the very best dining experiences I have had during my visits to California. From the manager who stopped by to check on us to our extremely attentive waiter we had a fantastic time at Bluewater. The food was quite simply amazing; sanddabs in a lemon caper sauce and the best fried clams Ive ever had outside of New England. The drinks were delicious and the desert of chocolate cake was divine. Even the valet staff was unusually friendly and engaging - a welcome change from the typical disinterested grumbles Ive experienced at other spots in the area. I dont give out five star ratings two places very often but this definitely exceeded my expectations and fully deserves the ranking. Well done!

This place doesnt care about customers. I brought 6 people for Brunch on Saturday. See their website and Saturday & Sunday Brunch. The waitress said they stopped Saturday Brunch THREE months ago!!! She said, "We keep telling them to change the website, but they dont care" She said, I hear your complaint all day on Saturday and I apologise. Also, we provided an exceptionally decorated birthday cake. When we wrapped up the left over cake, I asked where were the decorations? The waitress said, "We threw them away." They said they couldnt get them out of the trash! You know they didnt and someone took them home. Never again at a place that doesnt give a "fig"! about their customers. Not like the old Delaneys!

Was not pleased. I ate here with my dad as a young man and thought it to be one of the best seafood places Ive ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Since I was visiting and remembered this place I decided to take my family. I had ordered the Oysters Rockafeller and they ran out of it even though the waitress told me they just got a fresh shipment in earlier that day. Second they gave my sons crab legs to someone else so he had to wait an extra ten minutes to get his food and when it finally came out the top portion of each of the crab legs were still cold. To top it off the manager never attempted or even tried to make it right. Not what I was expecting from a restaurant of this quality.

Can give 0 ZERO stars but it deserves no STARS horrible foot, my daughter order had to be sent back twice, and she could not even eat, we went in to celebrate her Birthday, and she could not even enjoy the day, that runner her birthday dinner wich was supposed to be special, and I should have walked ou the first time we had to send her food back because her steak was too dry, they did not even had any deserts and we had told the waitress earlier on what we wanted for desert because it was a special day, she came back at the end with 2 scoops of ice cream...over all they RUINED my daughter birthday dinner

Bluewater gets 4 stars for a few reasons: Ginny at the bar knows how to help customers get the food that they like. The place is filled with locals who are regulars. Bluewater does not deserve 4 stars because on our only visit there, the Bouillabaisse had rubbery fish and the king crab sandwich screamed for mayo, with stale toasted bread and overly arid ingredients. Other comments: The osyters Rockefeller were excellent. The sofas and fireplace by the bar are cool, if they have the fireplace lit. You have to pay for parking. A caring employee saves this restaurant and obviously keep locals coming back.

My wife and I ate here more-or-less on a whim the night before going to 21 Oceanfront nearby for a celebratory dinner. It turns out we should have celebrated here at Bluewater and skipped 21 Oceanfront altogether. The experience at 21O was bad (food bad, service mediocre); the food and service at Bluewater very enjoyable and good. Our server Brad very helpful, I ate clams and lobster, my wife had scallops and tomato/mozzarella salad. All items well prepared and tender. We come up from San Diego occasionally and will return to Bluewater, will likely never go to 21 Oceanfront again.
