We discovered The Wild Plum earlier this week, the day before Thanksgiving. We went in for breakfast based on its serving mostly organic, local fare and on some great online reviews. We also were really appreciative of Chef/Owner Pamela Burns’ Mission Statement: At The Wild Plum everything is made with love and care. Our passion for food and sharing that passion with others is our reason for being. We strive to bring you the best of what is available as well as the best of ourselves. We love serving you with genuine warmth, enthusiasm and integrity. This is the kind of place we love to support, and we were not disappointed! The frittata was fantastic—delicately flavored, with a fine use of herbs, dried tomato, and cheese—and the house potatoes were also rich in flavor and cooked perfectly. The side of bread was not just a throw-in—it also was subtly flavored and had a beautiful texture. The order of pancakes was huge and delicious, and the crispy, still-moist bacon was done just right. At breakfast, we learned that Chef Burns offers everything for easy, take-home Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. With an extensive list of possibilities, we decided to give the take-home a try—some organic, free-range turkey, rosemary olive oil Yukon gold potatoes, cranberry sauce, traditional stuffing and gravy, as well as a pumpkin pie and a rustic fruit galette. This was a small sampling of what was available. We placed our take-home order the next morning, Thanksgiving Day, and had a wonderful breakfast again. We returned several hours later as things were being packaged for us. Chef Burns was so gracious and appreciative of our order, and it was hard to wait until we got home to taste it! We had an early lunch—the turkey was moist and flavorful, with none of the gaminess that turkey sometimes has; the stuffing was bursting with subtle flavors, and the carrots and celery in it cooked to perfection; the gravy was smooth and flavorful, and just right to enhance the already-delicious turkey; the cranberry sauce was not overly sweet or tart, and tasted amazingly fresh and piquant; the pumpkin pie was delicately flavored and textured, with decorative, crust-dough leaves on top; the apple galette was wonderfully seasoned with a light touch. We couldn’t have been happier with our first purchased Thanksgiving dinner, and it felt like a friend or family member had cooked it for us. We are so grateful for this meal, and for Chef Burns’ commitment. She says online that “My goal for each of my clients, whether an extravagant event or a simple meal is to give them a food experience they will treasure.” We treasure our experience with The Wild Plum, and couldn’t recommend it more highly!

The only nice thing about this place was the nice lady that greeted us. The waitress took our order and coughed all over us. I ordered a BLT on sourdough with no onions (it usually comes with Caramelized ones) and pressed in the panini press. My husband just ordered a burger, and we both asked for the house potatoes. We also asked for water, and got tiny jam sized mason jars. Everyone else in the store had large ones that didnt need to be filed after every other sip, so Im still not sure why we had teeny ones. After completely missing my glass and spilling water on the table, she left. About 7 minutes later she came back and asked what we had ordered again. We told her, and my husband asked if he could add bacon. She said "of course!" And went on her way. Fast forward to our food arriving (more coughing from the waitress). My BLT had onions, and was on a weird bread with a bunch of seeds in it (not the sourdough she said that it came on), and it hadnt been pressed or even toasted. There was no bacon on my husbands burger. Half of the potatoes were over cooked and too crispy, and half were okay. I ate not even half of the sandwich and gave up, trying to pick off the sauerkraut smelling onions as I went. We told the waitress that there wasnt bacon on the burger because we didnt want to get charged for it. My husband went up to the counter to order a coffee right after the waitress had taken our plates. She noticed that I hadnt eaten much and he told her everything that was wrong with it. When we got the bill my sandwich was still on it, even though she had mumbled something about "...you didnt like it" when she brought the check. I went up to the counter to ask if she had said she was taking it off. Since, you know, I hadnt really eaten it. She said "well SHE (points at owner) wanted to take it off, but you ate it, so I left it on". At that point I was just angry and wanted to leave before I got into a yelling (and coughing) match with the lady. I will not return here. Obviously.

Today my friend came from out of town and we tried this restaurant for the first time. I loved it and this is going to be my new favorite place to have breakfast and lunch. - - It is more like a deli in the setup. - - The service was fantastic, didnt have to ask for anything. - - The portions are large. - - The prices are great. We both agreed that there were 3 or 4 things on the menu that each of us wanted and we had to take extra time to decide what we were going to have. We both ended up having the burgers and I had a bowl of soup (cream of asparagas) which was excellent. Burgers come with sides, I had a salad and my friend had roasted potato. I took the burger home because the side salad with my burger and bowl of soup were larger than I expected and filled me up. I can hardly wait to go back and try more things and bring my friends who come to visit to The Wild Plum for breakfast/lunch.

Family took us out for breakfast. They had breakfast here the day before with other family for the healthy options. We loved the breakfast so much we came back for a late lunch/early dinner that same day! The food was DELICIOUS! We enjoyed good pancakes full stack and a short stack, bacon and eggs along with two orders of the Potato Skillet. Hubby eats a lot. The food was amazing! Around 4pm we had a Super Natural Salad with chicken and the Mediterranean Tacos (no cheese). I had the tacos and they were AMAZING!! They make there own tortillas and everything was so fresh and delicious! Would recommend to EVERYONE!! Also took a strawberry scone to go - YUMMY!! We will definitely come back next time we are in Monterey!

The Wild Plum is an interesting spot and I think they have quite a few regulars. The burger that I had was very tasty and came out fast. However it didnt have the bacon I ordered on it. I wasnt to upset, however my wife had about everything wrong with her order she could have wrong and hated it. She ordered a BLT. I Believe all of the faults in our meal could be attributed to the server. She was pleasant and seemed attentive but messed pretty much everything up. She also kept coughing on everything which was fairly off putting The fact that the burger alone was tasty isnt enough for us to come back.

Was here for lunch during our trip to Monterey in Jun16. Food - Amazing place to be for great food. We absolutely loved the food. They have big portions and the biggest plus - most of it is organic, which is something we care about a lot. We did a take out and ordered Garden Veggie Burgers, Mediterranean Tacos, House Quesadilla, Fajita Platter and an Oatmeal Apricot cookie. Loved every bite!! Seating - They have a cozy seating area (may be hosts about 20 people) and have a few chairs outside. Parking - They have a dedicated parking shared by other restaurants or you can park on the street.
