Not All That Barbecue! I should just end my review there, but I will give this place a chance first. I am going to split my review into two reviews: one for the average person and one for the hardcore Korean BBQ expert. Just imagine me in white make-up like a Chappelle Show skit for the non white person review and Im Bobby Lee for the Korean expert. The White person/ Non-Asian review: 5 Stars!! The best Barbecue ever! Its all that! This was verify by a friend of mine. The meat does taste good and if this was a first time experience of Korean bbq the food is great. Although it might seem odd to you that kbbq is indoors. You may be use to outdoor bbq near the pool. Dont get me wrong I like to have kbbq by the pool it definitely makes the neighbors jealous. Beer and Bbq is how Korean do it. So enjoy. The Korean BBQ expert (real review): I keeps it real!! I dont consider myself an expert but kbbq is one of my favorite foods. I have tried varies places in Ktown and a few in Orange County. Im offended when other people say this place is good for Irvine. We are not in ktown but why would I waste time traveling to Garden Grove when there are a lot of great Korean food restaurants and markets in Irvine. So your argument is invalid. Or you might not be a creditable source. I dont want to sound snobby. All that Barbecue is good but not good enough compared to shik do rak or even the meat from a Korean market both examples beat this place. The only items I enjoyed were the shrimp and rib meat. The brisket which is usually my favorite was unflavored. The side dishes were lacking. The salad tasted almost like Japanese and they serve Saki. In the words of the Korean lady from Next Friday "Im Korean motherf**". Really?? This is a Korean restaurant? Talk about not authentic. Im use to old korean ladies servers. I have a feeling that if I spoke only Korean I would not be able to get my food. I didnt see any korean people eating here. Where are the Korean menus? Everything has odd names that are trying to sound witty. Im not ordering ice cream or starbucks. Stick with Kalbi, bulgogi, and pork belly ( I dont know the Korean word for pork belly). Oh thats right no Kalbi here! Wtf? Most kbbq you can order kalbi sometimes at a higher price but at least have the option. I apologize for this semi-rant review but I want to give you honest feedback. To my white peeps I recommend. For my Asian peeps that have eaten kbqq at least once, dont go here :(. One of my friends claimed that he will never go back again. Also, last gripe. Its hot as f**! My friend said this place should be called "hot yoga bbq". This place needs to open the door and crank the air conditioner!! Set it to 60 degrees or lower. Turn off the energy saving option! It was unbearable. Even with the record high temperatures in Irvine this summer. Outside felt better than inside the restaurant. Its also a bad sign when you can tell that the servers and hostess are suffering from the heat just like the Spurs. Too soon?

I usually dont associate Irvine with amazing Korean BBQ, but All That Barbecue has definitely changed my perspective on that mindset. Usually, Ill make the trek to Koreatown for Korean BBQ because where else would you go? Theres Road to Seoul, Hae Jang Chon, etc, and ever a whole slew of non-AYCE BBQ spots. Nonetheless, during this specific weekend, I was down in Irvine, and my lazy friend did not want to make the hour or so drive up to KTown. Per his suggestion, he said that All That BBQ is just as good, is only a 5 minute drive from John Wayne Airport, and there isnt the infamous KTown AYCE 1-hour wait. With that being said, I was sold. All That BBQ is located with in a huge Chinese plaza that, of course, has a 99 Ranch Market. Parking here is hit and miss because these plazas are always packed with people so its really a roll of the dice. When we got inside, I was surprised that for a Thursday night, we only had to wait 5 minutes. This is due to the fact that my friend stopped by earlier to put our name down, left the restaurant, and then came back with me 30 minutes later. This definitely plays into the whole equation because who wants to wait an hour to eat a meal, and what restaurant allows you do things like that? Once seated, the experience was just like any other AYCE Korean BBQ spot in SoCal. For dinner, the price per person is roughly around $20 which is just around around the median price point. With your meal, you get the usual Korean banchan, as well as your BBQ additions such as the rice paper and different sauces. As far as their meat choices, they pretty much offer what youd expect. From brisket, to tongue, to chicken, All That BBQ has it all, and the meat quality looked and tasted pretty decent as well. I did find it funny that All That BBQ has these interesting names for their meats. I suppose thats because they want to cater to the clientele in Orange County who cant pronounce words like kalbi or bugolgi. Service here was pretty good as the staff here are pretty attentive. I did miss the little service button that they have in many Korean restaurants, but I digress. Im not too sure if All That BBQ is the absolute best AYCE spot that Ive had in SoCal, but its definitely up there. The restaurant is clean, service is on point, the wait time is more than reasonable, and the price point is perfect. Now, something needs to be done about the parking situation.

This was my second time coming here and although I had a good experience my first time, I can honestly say that I am sorely disappointed. We ordered our food and would have to wait about 10-15 minutes since our server was busy helping other tables. Then when the 2 hours was up, they literally came over and turned off our stove. The guy who turned it off apologized, but was not sincere about it at all. I dont mind having a 2 hour limit, but at least bring out the our order within 5 minutes.. I dont know if they intentionally do that so that you realize youre full, but that only made the experience worse. Rather than getting your customers out prior to the 2 hours, youre lengthening my dinner time, and then you cut me off before I can eat everything I wanted. I had to ask for a refill for my water and even then I had to wait about 10 minutes. Based on tonight, I would definitely not be back. Sadly, the table next to us felt the same way and asked to speak to a manager and their response was that there was no manager available.
