Nice looking place, but we should have been warned when we walked in and no one was at the front counter and it took them quite a while to come. We were seated at a nice window table with a view and things started out well. When the food came, things stared going wrong. First they forgot one of the drinks. Then they forgot the salad with one of the dinners, then even after asking about the salad it did not come. After asking a 3rd time about the salad it came after the meals came. The kitchen has a big glass window so that you can watch them cook over the open fire, but it seemed like they were more about trying to make a "big" fire to impress people. The food was pretty blah, with 3 hungry kids that did not want to finish the meals because they just did not take very good. Oh well, sometimes meals just arent great, so we asked for our check and were going to chalk it up to just one of those times. Then we asked our our check again....and again....and again. Finally on the 4th time the gal told us that our waiter had the check and he was in the bathroom being sick and we would have to wait for him. SERIOUSLY? Finally got the check and got out of there as fast as we could.

Ive been going to Shamus for a while now and theyve been around for as long as I can remember. It is a great example of an original steakhouse and provides great food, great service, and great times. Their steaks are nice and juicy, and well cooked. Their pastas are perfectly al dente and to die for. The seafood is not too fishy and is fresh. The burgers are sometimes not quite the way one wants them cooked, but as a cook myself I know how difficult it is to get a burger exactly how you want it, and no one is perfect, but despite that theyre still some good burgers! And the salads are not too large like many establishments make them so that ordering anything else is essentially pointless. Their variety of sides to choose from is very diverse and tasty too. But the best part, coming from more than just myself, is their barbeque foods. The ribs, chicken, and other BBQ foods are what Shamus is well known for and if I had to choose from any restaurant in town to go to, Shamus would be in the top selections.

Went as a group of six on fathers day.we waited almost 2 hrs for our food! It was a rediculas wait.did they have 2 kill the cow??! The wait staff was very apologetic& didnt hover a lot(wich is annoying when @ sum restaurants they ask every 5min) we watched people come in after us,eat& leave most werent much smaller then our 3 couples. Dont order the fish& chips.almost all mine were burnt or close to it,the fries tasted old, reheated & looked it( but I guess thats what I get for ordering fish @ a BBQ place..I dont like BBQ Sauce*LOL*. They did comp it tho without having 2 ask 4 a refund.everyone else ordered ribs& 1 Burger& they all liked it. The mashed potatoes were awesome. So long summery short. BBQ is great, fish not so great& dont go on a busy day.expecially in a group of 5 or more if u got kids.( thank goodness we didnt bring ours! 9 yr old MIGHT have made it,our 2 yr old def. wouldnt have.& the wait staff are very nice.

The first time I went here was with my in-laws from out of town. I remember it being awesome. The food was great and the atmosphere was just the right amount of cooky and wtf. The second time I went here was again with an out of town relative. We hyped it up because of our previous visit. But this time it just wasnt as good as we remembered. My aunt was kind of creeped out by the dead animals everywhere. The third time a friend of mine whos in town for business occasionally (Chevron facility right behind shamus) had always wanted to try it so we went. Everything was over smoked, over priced, gave me heartburn and our service was bad. It was worse than last time! I dont see myself going back.

Ive been there twice now getting food to go. It is 5 miles from the beaten path (highway US 101), but worth the side trip. Today the pulled pork is my favorite, but it is all good. The fairly typical bar-b-que menu cant begin to describe the full range of flavor. The meat is slow cooked over a wood fire. The meat comes dry with sauce as a side, both the dry rub and the sauce excel on their own. Unfortunately, they dont sell either. One meal feeds both my wife and I. Oh, one more thing, the corn muffins are the best I have had outside of my Grandmothers kitchen! So, draw up a pint of Eel River Ale and get ready to feast. Hmm, my nephew lives out that way, maybe I should go see Him today.

WARNING! WARNING! If you have kids are who are very sensitive to animals, this is probably not the best place to take them. My daughter wasnt happy to see all the mounted animal heads the covered much of the walls, there was no place to look to avoid staring at one. The other thing is you is they have a electric ball that lighting zaps it on the hour. The popping and zapping sound is pretty loud. My friend got the beef brisket sandwich which she liked a lot. I got the ribs, it was ok, not as juicy or tender as I like it. This place is hopping busy and theres cars in the parking lot waiting for a space to free up. We got there early, about 5:30ish so we got one of the few open spaces.

Really cool place. Loved the layout and design of the building as well as the quirky sense of humor. WARNING: there is a Tesla coil in the middle of the restaurant that will go off intermittently and scare the living bejeezus out of you while youre eating. Regardless of the sideshow attractions, the food is really good. Porterhouse steak was huge, cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and had just the right amount of fat. Came with a trip to the salad bar and its probably the only salad bar in the country I actually want to go back and eat at. Good, fresh items, immaculate cleanliness, and a bay view. Only complaint, its on the pricey side. Like, fancy steakhouse pricey.

The servers are wonderful. Friendly. Caring. Responsive. The food is AWFUL. Had the brisket and fries. $20. NOT worth it. No salad. No nothing. Old, overcooked tiny piece of broccoli at the side of the plate. The brisket was cooked in 1973 and oozed water and was terribly overcooked. The fries were anything but crisp. Shame on them for charging those prices and subjecting those nice servers to such awful food! Ugh! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY THERE! The people who write their reviews dont get out much and have too much money to waste. They are RIGHT about the servers, however. The best service I have had in a long time. Lovely people. AWFUL food.
