Underwhelmed was the word Id use to describe the food. The service was good but food was overpriced. My partner ordered fish n chips for $19 and there was little there (Only thin fries, two sauces, a limp coleslaw and four small pieces of battered fish half the size of my palm). The fish was tasty -delicious in fact- but for $19 I could have gotten two fish and chips meals double the size. Not that size matters- but this was wayyy overpriced. I would expect a better salad or a soup or SOMETHING remarkable for $19! I ordered a beet and salmon salad that I was assured was gourmet- but it was a lifeless plate with no flavor and at $20 the portion was skimpy and mostly over boiled beets that were poorly cut in large chunks. It had no flavor, no special sauce or spice that would have made me think that it was anything other than leftovers the chef piled together in haste. It could have been a salad from Whole Foods Market and I wouldnt have known the difference. Overall this restaurant is just a puff piece wanna-be with no substance or value. Eat elsewhere for better taste and value.

The good: truly outstanding customer service. I visited Ona on my birthday last year (staying in Yachats on my birthday has become a tradition). The gentleman who waited on me was attentive without hovering, and was very knowledgeable about the menu, both for food and drinks. He asked for my ID when I ordered a drink, noticed it was my birthday, and comped my dessert (something I didnt realize until I saw the bill, which was a nice touch). At the end of my meal, I paid in the main restaurant and moved into the bar, where I had a few night caps. The bartender was awesome - friendly and very professional (and a good Seahawks fan to boot). The "bad" - I had to take off one star for the quality of the food. The prices at Ona are steep, especially for a small town on the mid-coast. This is not a destination restaurant, and the food quality does not match the cost. Its serviceable, but nothing to write home about. Youre better off eating at the place next door, then heading to Ona for dessert and cocktails.

My husband and I went to Ona April 27,2013 to celebrate my Birthday. We had been there once before and had a great experience. I can hardly say that about our last visit. The service was cold and unfriendly, the waitress expressed absolutely no interest in us at all, didnt discuss any of the specials, never told us what they were out of or what was popular. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, and when we got them, our waitress asked if we were ready to order, not if we cared to start with an appetizer. Meanwhile, the table next to us was greeted with handshakes, smiles, drinks, and appetizers on the spot! We overheard their waiter discussing the menu and that they were out of the stuffed sole (the menu item my husband planned on ordering) I dont care if we are from out of town, we were treated like second class citizens. The hole in the wall bar behind Ona treated us with more dignity and regard. We wont be back.

Just south of Cape Perpetua, the town of Yachats boasts some of the finest seafood Ive ever eaten... and Ive eaten at some great seafood restaurants from NY to LA (my brother owns The Chowder Room in Denver and isnt a bad chef himself) We started with oyster shooters and they were beyond anything I ever expected. The oysters perfect ... tasted like the ocean! Firm and juicy with a lemon wedge and hands down the best "cocktail sauce" Ive ever tasted. I wanted to use the bread to mop up whatever sauce remained at the bottom of the shot glass ...it was that good. The clam chowder is simply superb. Packed with clams, not ultra thick, and seasoned correctly. The salad s are fresh, dressings are creative, , (poppyseed/ horseradish is perfect, neither overwhelming the other) The fish combo had a little of everything... and we wanted more! We loved loved this place!

First impression is excellent. Very nice decor inside and out. Great ambience. Crab cake appetizer was out-of-this-world, amazing. Our main lunch dishes were also excellent. Had fish and chips and tomato bisque with grilled cheese sandwich. Even though these dishes sound fairly plain, this restaurants twist on then was nothing short of delicious and innovative. Even the coffee was gourmet. Unfortunately, the service was sub-par. We had to wait way to long to get our order in, too long for drinks, and service throughout the meal was slow or non-existent. This is unfortunate because everything else was A+. It wasnt really super busy so we couldnt figure out why service was so slow. Despite this, we both agreed that wed definitely go back again. The food was worth it. I recommend this place highly, if only for the food and ambience.

Found this place last year and had such a wonderful experience that we sought it out again this year. Friendly, attentive service. Excellent selection of delicious, well-prepared food from the appetizers (oyster shooters were very tasty topped with slightly spicy sauce) to the salads, soup (omg, the clam chowder has bacon in it. ..do I need to say more?), main courses (perfectly prepared salmon! ),and desserts (ok, we were watching our waistlines so we didnt sample a dessert this year but we fondly remember last year. ..). Their drink menu features fun, original cocktails and reasonably priced wines by the glass or bottle. Overall, Ona is a very pleasant experience!

We came to the coast to escape the heat; driving south toward Cape Perpetua we spotted this new-to-us restaurant and decided it was time for lunch. Imagine the delight of my two gluten-intolerant companions when they found that Ona not only offers gluten-free options, but an entire gf menu! The crab cakes are to die for, as is the simple side salad of field greens with a luscious blood-orange vinaigrette. They were hit by a large party of Nissan sales force trainees right after we arrived, but the wait staff was cheerful and unflustered and managed to get us served after a very short wait. Well be back!

My Wife and I stopped for lunch and had a most delightful time. The waitress was efficient and friendly. We chatted about the food and the area of the coast. The clam chowder I had was incredible, very fresh and really good. My Wife had crab cakes and I tried them and have to say the were the best Ive ever had. Locally sourced and exceptionally fresh. Even the bread they served with my chowder was great. We also had sticky toffee pudding for desert, that I have never seen at any restaurant weve been to. Were going back, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

At first, I wasnt sure about going to this place due to some negative reviews on service. But I am so glad I went !!! Our server went above and beyond in ensuring his customers had great dining experiences. He gave multiple updates the on arrival times of different courses. The staff must have come by to refill my water 10 times. Got the crab cake as recommended - and they were indeed very delicious. Also tried the seafood yakisoba on the specials menu and it was very good as well. Seafood definitely tasted very fresh. Overall a great dining experience.
