We have heard a lot of good things about the Luna Sea eatery and on our last trip early this year, we gave it a try! While we waited to be seated, 3 or 4 people came in and got fresh crab from the seafood counter. This made us decide to take a crab back to our rental house and have it with our steak that we brought from our ranch! It was divine! Two days later we picked up two of them for dinner! They cook them, and when you pick them out of the case, they take them back and clean them and pack them in ice for you to take home! We had their shrimp cocktail and clam chowder for lunch a few days but since we had a house rented, we had food there and never tried a whole lunch but while we were there, we sure saw a lot of good food being served! YES! It is a very small eatery but we never had to wait very long for a table, but then it was January. The waitresses were very nice, especially Kristy! Everyone was always very friendly. We will be returning to Luna Sea on our next trip! I am trying to get a hold of them to see if they will ship fresh crab to Nevada!!! We loved the Luna Sea experience, but we dont expect 5 star service, just good old local fare and friendly service...we werent disappointed!

Used to be a good place to eat.. Last time I ordered the salmon it was a small but nice filet piece..Very casual atmosphere with limited seating.. This time it was little pieces that looked like they recovered them from the carcass bones after filleting the salmon.. a few tiny very thin odd pieces about the size of a quarter, one of them looked like a cheek piece chunk from the color shape and texture.. I am guessing that they didnt weigh but two or three ounces altogether.. That with half slice of bread (guess they thought I couldnt eat a whole slice) and a little scoop of coleslaw along with some fries $16.95.. All on a very tiny miniature platter to make it look bigger. Asked and that was the salmon used for every item on the menu presented me (around 3PM). There are much better places to order salmon in Newport and Florence where it is just as fresh if not more so and they will feed you not fool you for around the same price. Disappointed former customer..

Ok so I have mixed feelings about this place. We went there for dinner Sunday evening and it was awesome. The food was fantastic and the service was great. So we decided to go there for breakfast on Tuesday morning. Wow what a 180. The server didnt even acknowledge us for over 5 minutes. She was on the phone, however she didnt even give a nod to let us know she would be right with us. So we order our food and it takes forever to get it and were the only ones there. Im thinking at least 20 minutes. Then my wife finds a hair buried deep in her potatoes. So we/she had to wait again for her breakfast. They did comp us my wifes food so that was nice. The server spent a lot of time on the phone clearly on a personal call. But she was okay and kept our coffee filled. Definitely a different experience between the two shifts. I would for sure go back for dinner but not breakfast. So Im going to give it a 4.5 for dinner and a 3 for breakfast.

Incredible fresh/delicious seafood and friendly service. Driving up the coast with 5 friends, we picked this place at random and boy am I happy we did. We were greeted by friendly faces, our server was incredibly nice and patient with us, and the gentleman who cleared our table took time to give us some highlights on the local sights to see and experience. Its hard for me to convey how welcome and valued they made us feel, but it was like being in your good friends restaurant. You must try the Slumgulion with Crab. Best bowl of chowder I have ever had; Rich and full of seafood. My friends also liked the two types of fish and chips they ordered. Good selection of bottled beer. They also sell fresh seafood. Based on the name of the place and the fishing boat pictures (boat has the same name), I think the owner is a local fisherman. This place is now on my list of places to eat every time I am in that area.

Ill start with the good: the food is really, really good (far better than the higher priced, "fancy" restaurants nearby), and the prices are low considering the quality. During the summer, you can sit outside, and they have live music some days of the week. The bad: the beer selection isnt great, which is especially weird with a brewery less than a quarter mile away (maybe less). It would be really nice if they had one beer from Yachats on tap. One other thing: customer service was hit and miss during my visit. My first interaction with my server was great - he was very friendly, and we chatted about the music and the menu. But every subsequent interaction, when I could get him to stop at my table at all, was disinterested to the point of rudeness. It was really weird. Anyway, Ill definitely be back for the food, and will hope that it was just a chance thing.

The fish here is FRESH! Most of the food served here is straight from the owners fishing boat. I had the fish and chips combo with salmon, halibut and tuna. All of the fish was tasty and perfectly battered and fried. They also offer a grilled combo that a member of my party ordered and raved about! I also tried a piece of my Moms fried ling cod and it was incredible. It is much firmer and better tasting than the typical Atlantic or Pacific cod. On the second day of our vacation, we stopped by the counter and picked up some prawns and sea scallops to grill back at the beach house. Both the prawns and the scallops were huge and so delicious! If you can, sit outside under the covered tables. There are heaters by the tables and a live music stage! We cant wait to come back and enjoy this neat restaurant.

Ive never wroten a review before, but I had to take the time and give this little place a great review. We stopped off here out of shear hunger while driving down the coast. I couldnt understand why a bowl of soup would cost $11.75 until I tasted it. The Slumgullion was the most amazing bowl of clam chowder/soup/seafood Ive ever had. It had large fresh potatoes, tons of clams, bay shrimp and cheese. I would take a trip back to Oregon just to have another bowl of this. I was with family, a party of 5 and everyones food was amazing. The lemonade was really good as well and we enjoyed eating outside at the picnic tables. Afterwards, we headed to the candy shop at the other end of the complex and rounded out a perfect lunch. If you are in the area, stop and have lunch here. You will be so happy you did.

We arrived at 615 on Friday night of spring break. The staff were hustling sweating serving food like crazy people and all were quick with a smile and a thank you. We had the combo fish and chips and the slumgullion. The salmon, halibut, and Ling Cod had to be the best fish we have ever had. I am not a big salmon guy but already trying to talk my wife into going back tomorrow for more. The slumgullion was delicious clam chowder with shrimp and melty cheese that got all over your chin. The garlic bread was ok. The only low light was the slaw. I love slaw and this was not bad or good. The prices were jawdroppingly low. We were filled up after starving our selves for $14 each plus $4 beers. Do NOT miss this little tiny unassuming shack on the west side of hwy 101 on the south end of Yachats.
