A gem in the middle of nowhere while road tripping across America. I mistakenly found this place thinking I was going to have McDonalds for dinner. and who knew I was going to find the best New Orleans cuisine restaurant that Ive ever had in Eureka California. I had the catfish special and my other half had the poboy oysters. We too had fried pickles as appetizers. Both dishes had homemade sauces that complimented. The best part of the meal was the at home, Sunday dinner over big mamas house atmosphere. the owner was so friendly and approachable, her daughter was our waitress and her son-in-law was the cook. Yes the food may take a while but they put a lot of love in the food. Plus it is written all over the menu. There is only one cook; not three chefs, a sous chef, a line chef, 1 hostess and seven waiters. Be patient, hang out and enjoy.

I went for my birthday dinner and was thoroughly disappointed. Their high prices were off putting but we stayed, expecting the food to match the price tag. We started off with hush puppies, they were dense and a little oily but the aioli was good. Next I had the soup which tasted like it was day old dish water with soggy greens. The mac and cheese was oily, congealed and lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes and gravy again lacked any flavor. The only highlight of the meal was the fried chicken, but overall it was not worth the price. The service was also not great, the waitress was at times rude and impatient when talking to our table.

I now know why its called Bless My Soul... because its a religious experience. Had an appetizer of spicy honey glazed frog legs. I ordered the jerk fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. My niece had the jambalaya with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Im not sure who made out better. Both dishes were divine. The caramelized bananas with the fried chicken, the spiciness of the jambalaya. The corn bread..oh, the corn bread. Finished with a voodoo pudding...speechless. Soooooo worth the wait. Sweet Mama Janisse came out and thanked us for stopping in.. bless you, Mama Janisse. We will definitely see you again. :)

Bless My Soul Café is now my favourite restaurant in Eureka. Every time we have been there, we have tried different menu items and they have all been superb. While this remains a "special occasions" place, the prices are very modest for the quality (and quantity!) of food served. I never hesitate to bring visitors over, and the personnel has shown great courtesy and patience handling last-minute arrangements for groups. One of our friends who is originally from Louisiana has even given Bless My Soul her own blessing!

For starters, The waitress didnt even bring us our drinks for over 10 minutes, We got our salads before we even got our drinks, the food was horrible and the waitress asked me if I was allergic to tomatoes and I said yes and she brought me a bowl full of tomatoes with a little bit of spicy sausage and some corn and my wifes pot roast was awful as well she said it had about as much flavor as boiled meat (water only) no taste, the waitress was rude and lazy as well, And last but not least extremely over priced.

I was in town for business and was looking for interesting place to eat. I ordered the chicken waffle since I never had any before. I was really surprised by the taste. The food was great. It tasted as good food should taste. The chicken was juicy and tender. The waffle were really good. I asked the server and told me that they make and cook almost everything. I would go back again next time I am in town. I do recommend giving it a try. The restaurant is simple and has this nice family ambiance.

The longest Ive ever waited for mediocre food. 30 minutes after being seated (a party of 2) we were finally able to place our order. For some reason it took a over a half hour to prepare overcooked hush puppies. They had sat in the oil too long and had been allowed to absorb a half inch into the breading. 1 1/2 hours later the entrees came. The steak special was fine, but the etoufee was bland, oily and mostly green peppers with very little sausage or crayfish. Very disappointing.

They advertised this as a southern,Cajun, Caribbean food restaurant it was a lie. I was raised in the south and the food taste nothing like this. It was greasy, bland, the fish wasnt cooked properly. I would never eat here again. The atmosphere was ok, it was obvious that they are loyal and only concerned about their loyal customers. Word of advice DONT EAT HERE! If the cooks got better than I would consider it again, until there I will not return.

This was my first foray in Creole food, and it was everything I wanted. My girlfriend got their gumbo, and I got their Chicken and Waffles. Both were delicious. The side salads were wonderful, the cornbread was scrumptious, and the service was great. The owner came by to greet us; she was always stopping by tables to talk with customers and check on their food. The music playing was also great - blues, mostly. I highly recommend coming here.

Some of the food was good, but it couldve been more authentically Southern. It seems like theyre try to cater to the North Coast "hippie" tastes - for example, the rice had waaay to much rosemary and the vegetable sides seemed a little bland. But the entrees were good and spicy. Id say its a pleasant change from some of the other dining options in the area and worth trying. Plus the service was nice and they seemed to care about their customers.

Good old home cooking, stopped in to eat with my brother on our way home to Washington my brother is not a big fan of southern cooking but he liked the fried chicken and sides that he ordered and I loved the food I ordered. The only bad thing is the price. I think the price should be a few bucks cheaper or a little more food on the plate other then the price cant wait to go back.

AMAZING! One of the best eating experiences we have ever had. If youre going through Eureka you NEED to stop and eat here. Food was worth every penny, very original. Tried the frog legs and I can say Im a fan. Very kid friendly too. They provided a "sippy" cup and when our 16 mo. daughter was getting fussy they had a toy box. Service was super friendly.

Amazing little Cajun hole in the wall restaurant, right on 101 North! Every piece of food was made to perfection, from the salad dressing to the cornbread to the main dish. Each bite was so delicious! And then the owner/chef came out and was so happy that her food made us happy we all ended up getting big warm hugs! What a beautiful place!
