stopped here for dinner March 27, 2017. I ordered the large bowl of New England Clam Chowder, my wife ordered the whole dungeness crab. (you had the option to order the crab hot or cold), my wife ordered it hot. The clam chowder was better than some that I have had, but not fantastic. The crab on the other hand was absolutely .... terrible. My wife took one or two bites, and had me try it to be sure she was on the right track with her opinion. It tasted like iodine. Absolutely worst crab ever. We contacted our waitress "Maria" and told her about it. She promptly took it away and told the manager "Carlos" about it. They deducted the $30.00 from the final bill but, you could tell that Carlos wasnt happy about the situation. Maria had to remind him to deduct the charge. I am giving the three stars because our waitress was bullet proof the whole time. She was pleasant and apologetic about the crab issue and continued to give us fantastic service until we left the restaurant. Overall, the service was great. The food , not so much. As it was a Monday, and at the five oclock hour, we were two of maybe 8 People in the whole restaurant. I should have took that for a clue , that perhaps there might be some "food issues" here. As a side note: I manage people for a living, and had I been that manager, he should have come over to us to apologize directly. Perhaps even comped the entire meal as a sign of good faith. However, just sitting in the background and letting the staff take the heat isnt good business. Just saying.

Two words: RUDE and TRASHY. When we walked in there was nobody to greet us. The elderly waitress expressed with disdain - quite openly - that "someone" should be there to greet us. Well, yes, its a restaurant and its dinner time. Restaurant 101. Second, as we were led to a table, the place seemed warm - no, hot. As we were seated, we realized just how hot it was. 90+ was our estimate. It was an absolute sauna. I observed a woman fanning herself with a menu and another was fluffing her blouse to keep cool. We had to eat somewhere else. So we got up and went to the wait station where confused and unsmiling staff suggested another table. As a man led us to another table, the elderly waitress scoffed openly and mocked our complaint loudly enough for us and the other waiter to hear her clearly. Of course, the entire restaurant was a sauna so we said we would eat somewhere else. We didnt leave without telling the elderly woman how rude she was. The male waiter asked what was rude and we ignored him. As if he didnt know what she said? He was RIGHT THERE AND HEARD EVERY WORD SHE SAID. Never going back. This place is trash from the word go. If you cant even greet people, have a pleasant environment, and be nice? Shut it down and do Bodega Bay a favor.

The food was good, but the busboy hit me in the neck with the service tray. I am now injured trying to figure out how to get the muscles on the right side of my neck to relax again. I actually think he did it purposefully out of anger or jealousy, because no apology was forthcoming. In fact we waited for him to come back and he never did. He just disappeared, period. I let the waitress know what happened and I guess management can take it from there. So either he did it on purpose which is an assault, or it was an accident, in which case hes an idiot and could just as easily in the future hit some woman in the face with that tray. Either way, we will not be returning there again, and thats unfortunate for the restaurant because we had frequented that restaurant numerous times over the years. Our incident occurred on Monday, 3/30/2015 about an hour before dusk on the far left side of the restaurant at window seating. Guess we should have sat with our backs to the windows so we would have been at a protected distance from the busboy. Live and learn, right.

This review has nothing to do with the food, we didnt get that far! Three of us went for lunch and didnt wait but a few minutes to be seated. We ordered drinks and asked the server if it would be OK for my wife to eat some food she brought in; she has a severe gluten allergy. Most places offer gluten free options, as this place does however she has been exposed to gluten (by accident) and its not worth being sick for two days so she brings food most of the time. My wife started eating and after a few minutes he approaches our table and stands very close to me. He is very angry and starts questioning why outside food was brought in. He didnt care that the server approved this and kicked us all out of the place! We had ordered $50 in food and it was just about to come. He was an incredible a-hole about this and couldnt wait to get us out of there. There are a lot of other great places in the area, you might want to select one of them over this place; remember the soup nazi episode on Seinfeld???

We were there for breakfast on 5-25 and normally go for lunch or dinner. The service was fair but someone decided to give everyone huge glasses of ice water in cheap 7-up plastic glasses which are not attractive and in keeping with the view and ambiance that you enjoy while there. We ordered juices that came half way through our meal and the shrimp omelet was overcooked with just shrimp and no stuffing that has come before on previous visits. My poached eggs were under- cooked and the plates felt like they had been left out for awhile. The fish I ordered with my eggs did not seems like red snapper to me; if so it was overcooked. All in all we will go back but stick to lunch or dinner since breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. They should definately go back to glasses for water and be sure to ask if we even want water so that it will not be wasteful.

My wife and I have come up here from Marin many times to enjoy the coast and to share a romantic dinner together. I was concerned when I saw all of the negativity in these reviews. I am glad that we went anyway. I am glad to say that we had a really nice dinner, as we have always had in the past. Sure, we had to wait a few minutes for a nice table, it was dinner time on labor day weekend. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food was just great. I wanted to leave a positive review because I believe the staff of the Tides are good people working hard to provide a good service for their customers and we appreciate them. I think because it is also a bar, they might be getting some unfair, negative reviews over some very petty details. Thanks again for another fine dining experience!

I have been coming to the Tides for 20 years, and have noticed a steady decline in the quality of the food. The menu has not changed in 20 years. I had breakfast there yesterday, and was terribly disappointed. The avocado, bacon and cheese omelet looked like it came out of a frozen package. The avocado was all mashed up like potatoes, and the hash browns definitely were from a freezer package as they were compressed into a square and dry. I requested fruit instead of potatoes, and was denied. The service was ok, but the food experience sucked. Im done eating here, and its a shame because I keep a boat year round at the marina, and enjoy sampling all the different restaurants in the area. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the spicy bloody mary was atrocious!
