I had the opportunity to spend one night in one of the Peak houses at The Post Ranch Inn and felt I had an appetizer and now want more days and nights in this incredible hotel. Greeted by friendly staff at the Reception area, offered refreshments while registering. Our valet took our luggage and drove us up to our house, completely explained and pointed out the amenities on the 98 acre property and in our house. It was such a beautiful, serene setting, we didnt even want to wander around. So peaceful - only the sound of birds. Near sunset, we strolled over to the Sierra Mar dining room - an architectural treat of glass, steel and wood - and enjoyed a five course culinary dinner that was a work of art and the best I have had. It had been so quiet around our house, we felt like we were the only guests and were amazed that the dining room was full. Many of the ingredients grown in their own organic garden. Our waitress was very professional and enjoyed explaining every dish - timed perfectly. As we walked back to our house, the stars seemed so close we felt we could touch them. The Peak house was beautifully stocked with fabulous soaps, lotions, refreshments in the refrigerator, plush robes and slippers and the bed was divine. There are no televisions or phones. We made a fire in the fireplace and just relished the evening. In the morning we awoke to the serene mountain and forest view. My companion enjoyed the hot tub on our deck and later went to the Sierra Mar dining room for their buffet breakfast which had everything you could ask for. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the morning fog was just burning off and one of the guests spotted two whales in the cove below. Our hostess brought a set of binoculars so we could see them easily. We wandered past the infinity pool - all beautiful landscaped. This environmentally friendly property is a jewel. We could not have been happier and cannot wait to return.

I absolutely adored this experience at the PRI. I stayed there from Friday through Sunday and enjoyed almost every moment (besides the one where these two snobby, uptight, and obnoxious prima donna men next to me complained because I had to make a quick phone call to the airline to change my flight during my al fresco breakfast; the hostess asked me to remove my phone bc the men were "uncomfortable"...not cool). I did yoga in the yurt, tried 2 out of the 3 pools, used 2 of their loaner luxury Lexuss to take out for the day, tried their restaurant for dinner also (great food and ambiance), and enjoyed the turn down service and front door car service in the evenings. I especially appreciated the open air double headed showers with the private hot tub just around the corner on the balcony. The fireplace against the mountain setting was beautiful as well. At sunrise, birding was amazing off the balcony; the nights, star gazing was immaculate. I could view every star in the sky from this spot! On one side of the street I faced the mountains and on the over was the spectacle of the bluest ocean. Also a great place for a honeymoon or some movie star gazing:)

Post Ranch Inn is unquestionably beautiful because it commands unhindered views across the Pacific, however I felt that the price purely reflects its monopoly on Big Sur and I got much better value at other 5* properties (Auberge du Soleil in Napa; Amangiri in Utah; Villa dEste in Como, Italy). We stayed in an Ocean House for the views, but the charm of the dark wood, large furniture and square bathtub were a little lost on me. Hikes around the property are more like gentle strolls, the pool is quite small and the food is average at best and expensive for what you get.

Best customer service weve experienced traveling in recent years. Staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgable, and aimed to go above and beyond in each interaction. We immediately booked a second night as soon as we checked into our room because it was THAT good. It helps that the setting is so picturesque. Breakfast overlooking the cliffs and ocean was one of the best aspects, although we loved a mini fridge stuffed with goodies we wanted to eat and that were provided without extra charge. Courtesy rides to other locations in Big Sur were also a pleasant surprise.

Absolutely perfect! Unbelievable view of the Pacific from an extraordinary vantage point. Sweet outdoor cocktail spot where we enjoyed our first course. Inside the architecture - glass and timber - was magnificent as were the cocktails, wine and food. The fois gras "three ways" ... especially the one a la "creme caramel" with crunchy caramel topping was "to die for." Every item on the menu was totally unique, full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was elegant, informative and attentive. Well done!

Dan and his amazing team once again continue to surprise and delight me and my husband. We are on our 9th year for my annual birthday pilgrimage to Post Ranch and we were overwhelmed with the service, accommodations, food, staff, scenery, grounds, weather...everything. The chilled bottle of Tattinger upon our arrival for my birthday was perfect as well as the lovely cheese plate. We are counting the days until our next visit. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sandi and Rick Werner

Yesterday we had the most Amazing and Incredible dining experience! The service was flawless and our server Colby, treated myself and my wife with the utmost of professionalism and provided us an uncanny lunch service. Every staff member was attentive to our needs and it was the perfect place to celebrate my wife, Sandis birthday. We could not asked for a better day and place to celebrate. Thank you Post Ranch Inn & we look forward to coming back!

One of the best experiences Ive had. The views are amazing, the staff is great, and the food is top notch. We stayed in one of the tree houses facing the woods. We played a chill and relax playlist on the surround sound system and had some of the complimentary champagne right by the corner window facing the woods. Highly recommended it if you need to relax and get away for a weekend from the hustle and bustle of everyday work life.

Google maps location is slightly off. Its actually closer to the Ventana Inn but we were still able to find it. Call ahead and make reservations. Ask for the tables by the window which will give you an amazing view! Standard 3 course fixed price menu for lunch ($40) but the food selection is amazing. Had the wagyu steak and it was fabulous! Enjoy the views as they are truly breathtaking.

Absolute heaven. The staff is wonderful, rooms are stunning, and the details are perfect. Lots to do on site, a fleet of Lexus vehicles for use. We booked an ocean house, the balcony view is breathtaking. Loved the small touches like the jar of chocolate chip cookies. Yes it is very expensive but worth every penny.
