I am writing this from the restaurant. When my boyfriend and I walked in we stood there awkwardly. It took the wait staff a while to tell us we could sit anywhere. The waitress barely even looked at us while taking our orders and kept looking elsewhere. It was obvious that she couldnt care less about paying any attention to us. I ordered the from scratch skillet and my boyfriend ordered an omelette that had avocado in it. When our food was served, the waitress sat down with us and struck up a conversation. Once we finally got to try our food, my boyfriend noticed he had no avocado. We almost finished our food before she came over to ask how our food was and we could tell her we had no avocado. She brought out a quarter of an avocado even though we were practically done. Nobody paid attention to us until it was time to pay the check. Id much rather go to the breakfast club next time.

I love the food at From Scratch, but of late, the service has been severely lacking. The last 3 times I have taken friends there for breakfast or lunch, our wait person has not been attentive at all. The previous 2 visits, our waiter just stood around, kind of staring into space. "Hello, were over here", I felt like saying. Yesterday, our female waiter disappeared after I asked for a "doggy bag" and was gone so long, I had to ask another wait person to please bring our bill and a bag. Thank goodness, she was attentive and brought the items right away. I was late getting to my next appointment, due to poor service. Our wait person came out as we were leaving and said "Oh, Im sorry." ME, TOO!

I absolutely loved From Scratch. We recently moved from the Monterey area and From Scratch is one of the restaurants I miss the most. Their breakfast is wonderful! We loved the scramblers and the pancakes the best. The lunch is also good, but the breakfast was what we went back for each time. The setting is very cozy, with a fireplace. You seem the same servers each time, which is nice. The prices are reasonable too.

Absolutely the best breakfast I have ever eaten! The flavours were on-point and the service was amazing! They went the extra mile to make us happy! It was a year ago we were there- I had to come back and leave a comment...I think about that chilli all the time. And the portion- WOW! Crazy! Thanks for sending us home with those sauces- fantastic! Weve only eaten brunch here, but its been amazing each time. Waiting for a table can be awkward as theres no space to stand and the staff can be a little slow, but worth the wait. The cinnamon french toast is some of the best Ive ever had. Definitely their specialty. If youre coming up from a weekend of hiking/camping in Big Sur, this is a great way to end it

Nice restaurant. I sat outside and it was very nice. The staff is friendly and relatively attentive. The food was good but not great. For a restaurant that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, I expected to be wowed a little more by the food. Overall, I enjoyed the experience was good and I would probably eat here again.

A great place for breakfast if you want large portions and arent looking to count calories. I ate here a few days before my marathon and it was very filling. The outside patio was cute. We were greeted immediately coming inside and our server/wait staff were very nice. Our food came out fairly quickly as we came during a non-peak time.

Wow, fantastic breakfasts, and great service too. We will definitely be coming back next time we stay in Carmel. The biscuits and gravy are to die for, the brisket chili is also quite tasty. Kids had pancakes: one had blueberry, the other granola-banana... both absolutely delicious. Exceptional place.

Omg! This place was to die for. The breakfast was the best one we had on our trip to the area. I had a make your own omelette with a side of fried grits and a cheese biscuit all of 13.95. Way too much food, but everything was delicious. The bacon as nice and crispy.

Really good food and friendly service. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my wife got the blackened chicken sandwich. Huevos are nacho style which was a cool twist with the crunchy chips. The blackened chicken was really good too, but messy.

The cozy restaurant is a great place for breakfast. My family and I hit this place on Mothers Day and were very happy with our experience. The food was great and the service was dependable. Highly recommend the sausage biscuits and gravy.

Wow! Amazing food. The corned beef hash was the best I have ever had. And the pancakes were each the size of three normal pancakes, so a plate of three is really a plate of 9. They were so good. I very highly recommend this place.

I am a local, have been coming here for years & always enjoyed atmosphere. I like their blueberry pancakes but they have gotten much smaller, for $10 you expect big pancakes, not like pancake batter is expensive .

Mmmm - biscuits! Had a great omelette here with a load of bacon. Biscuits were great too. Everything, as the name suggests, is made in house. Featured on Guy Fieris DDD. And deservedly so. Youll enjoy!

We came here because of the great reviews but I dont see what the fuss is about. Nothing special. I mean not bad but not worth a detour. No cell reception whatsoever but they have free WiFi.

Waitress was rude. Drinks came quickly but food never came. So cant really comment on the food. It wasnt even busy so it doesnt make sense. So we went to Flanagans they are awesome :)

Huge portions beware! Hard to find, but cute restaurant. Service was ok, not crazy friendly but quick. Burrito was really good and so was the wrap. Took more than half home with us.

Service flat out awful. We had to go inside after 20 minutes to find out waitress. Food greasy and eggs undercooked. No one seemed to care. Avoid at all costs.

Great gluten free quiche and salads with bacon, blue cheese and very tasty strawberry sauce. The waiter was very up to date on gluten, which is a huge plus.

Best breakfast place around! It is the place to go! Favorites for me are the Eggs Florentine and the Extreme Sausage Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs.
